Death Star
Gibson or ESP. I really dig Washburn acoustics. In my opinion they outclass Martin and Taylor every way. Edited June 26, 2008 by Death Star

GUNSNROSES513
Its a hard question. It all depends on what im playing and my mood. Every guitar is different.

Max™
Gibson, Fender and Martin for acoustics.Martin guiars are awesome one set up. You pay £1500 - £2000 for an acoustic with a plastic bridge and nut which is insane. For the higest quality bone would only cost them £10< to put in place. browser
Max, bone nut doesn't matter. Hell it's even plastic on vintage guitars. a burst comes with plastic nut.You read too much bullshit forums. My brands are Collings for acoustics. Nash for Fender style guitars. And Keebler/Max for Gibson style guitars.
Max™
Max, bone nut doesn't matter. Hell it's even plastic on vintage guitars. a burst comes with plastic nut.You read too much bullshit forums. Exactly my point. You pay shitloads for a decent guitar and the maker cuts corners which cost them pence.Different types of nut would alter the tone of the guitar - and bone would beat plastic anyday. kok
After you play a Parker and your fingers run freelly on its amazing carbon fibre fingerboard, you cannot settle for anything less. Parker - the only way to Fly! Edited July 9, 2008 by kok

Bucketslash
The god of guitars to me is the goldtop gibson les paul with p-90 pickups. HEAVEN IN A GUITAR I TELL YOUfollowed by squier strats-the strat was never meant to be a high end guitar. It was made to be cheap and thats how it got famous. Now they cost lots of money cause people want the classic tone, but why pay so much for what was trash to begin with. Squiers are more of a bargaini occasionally use parker flys, epi casinos, and a certain type of univox guitar thats shaped like a mozerite. i also REALLY like the japanese effector guitar in the explorer shape
ffrankwhite
this is gonna sound ridiculous but...in my entire life, in terms of electric guitars i've had a yamaha pacifica, an epiphone les paul and a telecaster. the epiphone was okay, the telecaster i cant really properly judge i suppose cuz im a leftie and its a rightie and i've strung it backwards without having change the nut yet so it sounds like a piece of shit so i find myself in the strange position of finding it more enjoyable to play this fuckin shitty little yamaha pacifica at the moment. odd. bearing in mind by the way that i cant play for shit...im awful. Death Star
ESP's and LTD's Can ESP Japan still make the Explorer shape? Not the new EX shape but the Explorer shape Hetfield made famous and Gibson sued for? Heard they could somewhere.
jkdrummer
Ibanez, Gibson, Fender also the Japanese Squiers are really good guitars they actually sound and feel so much like Fenders not like the cheap Squiers which i hate as i have both a Japanese Telecaster which is really good and a cheap Squier strat that was made in some sweat drenched factory which is why it is so dreadful, the guitar i use the most though is my Ibanez RG350dx i really like the neck its really smooth and fast. I am also going to be receiving a Gibson Les paul standard on the special occasion 'christmas'.
transformerryan
I've always been partial to Gibson, although that's mainly based on my love for the Les Paul line. I've played a couple of flying V's and SG's, and their quality was excellent as well, but I've always loved the tone of a Les Paul.Strats are good guitars, and I may want to own one someday for variety, but if I had to choose based on playability and tone, I'd go with a good 'ol Gibson Les Paul, that's my personal preference. A Northern Soul
fenderbut i would love to own a gibson les paul, as well as a gretsch. i use to own a dillion les paul, with p90's - was a wicked guitar for the price.

Strats are meant to be beaten, hence Japanese and Mexis. No one should ever have the misfortune of playing a Squire. Rough fret edges, shitty pickups, bad tuners, crap wood. I needn't go on.ESP's and LTD's Can ESP Japan still make the Explorer shape? Not the new EX shape but the Explorer shape Hetfield made famous and Gibson sued for? Heard they could somewhere.Yes they can, but it is illegal for export outside of Japan. You can however custom order them since they are technically a custom shop. It is the same law passed in the 80's because of lawsuit guitars. US copyright law (ie instrument shapes/design) do not apply in other countries. However, if they export to the US, or a place that they hold the original copyright, then it is illegal.
