spunko12345
Can anyone recommend a good album of his to get as a starting point? I want to try and get into Bob as he is held up as such an influential musician but so far ive overlooked him compared with other old legends like Beatles, Johnny Cash etc. With so many albums to choose from its difficult to know where to start. I dont want to get a Best Of compilation either as I think that way you only get the big hits and miss out on some classics tracks within the record.Thanks. Wild_Child
Yeah you can't go wrong with either one of those 4 really. Great starting points.I'd suggest Highway 61 Revisited for an absolute beginner though.

Shuffle
The four mentioned above are the usual starting points... I'd argue for Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited over Blonde On Blonde but that's just personal taste. His best album (imo) is Blood On The Tracks. Lithium
I'll also include Freewheelin'.
GivenToFly
Blood on the Tracks is probably the most accessible for someone not familiar. It's also the favorite Dylan album for most people who aren't big fans.
SpUd_Jr
Depends what you're looking for. If you want the folkie Dylan, go with The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. If you're intersted in the hipster rockstar, go with Highway 61 Revisited. And if you want the confessional singer/songwriter, then do Blood on the Tracks. Johnny Blaze
I'd have said to go with Highway 61. That's his best album when it comes right down to it.
Midnight Rambler
Id start with Freewheelin. My favourite dylan album.
rocketqueenxll
I'm a big Dylan fan, I saw him in concert and it pretty much completed my life. Well not seriously, because I still need to see Gn'R, hahaha, nah, but I would say my favorite is probably Blonde on Blonde, so I suggest that, and I really like Infidels too.. really anything. Have fun gettin into him

Have fun gettin into him Infidels would have been so much better if he'd have kept "Foot of Pride" and "Blinde Willie McTell" on.You can put John Wesley Harding in the 'underrated gem' category also. worldwideboss
Planet Waves is very underrated too, amazing work by The Band in conjunction with Bob Dylan. The Dylan & The Band association is one of the best in the history of music.
