Signature Question - answered

When I joined here years ago, I honestly didn't bother to read the signature guidelines so I made a signature linking to another forum I help mod. Then when that got taken away, I went to read the guidelines and saw that you guys don't allow that. So I changed my signature to link to my music blog.

It's been like that for sometime, almost a year maybe. Now all of a sudden it's censored again with a link to the signature guidelines. When I click on the link it gives me an error.

What's the deal? Is linking to my own music blog allowed or no? And if not, is there a way to get a working link to the guidelines? I just made the decision to contribute monetarily to this site a few weeks ago so I'd like to post here without crossing any lines but it'd also be cool to be able to link to my blog as I work hard on it.

Sometimes signatures with links are not noticed for a long time, they are not a priority when it comes to day to day operations of the forum, however there are rules:

http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=9592

LINKS are absolutly not allowed by users. Does not matter how long they have been on. You can however post a thread in this section about your blog and advertise it that way:

http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showforum=30

Again however there are guidelines for that section as well please read here:

I will ask Eric to correct the link to the guidelines when a mod edits a signature.

Hope this explains it?

Gotcha. Thank you very much for all of that. I appreciate the time.

can we increase the signature

MAXIMUM SIZE : 20K in size
to something a fair bit more?

these days, everyone who is on a pc/laptop, have fast internet speeds, and those on the iphone etc view the forum in mobile mode (no sigs viewed) anyway?

it should be more like 80-100kb in size, nothing major, but 20kb is too small.

Why is this the only GNR site that doesn't allow links in signatures?

That is untrue, in fact some sites don't even allow signatures! This is a discussion forum not an ad blog, we do allow you to post links to your sites in Aint It Fun

This was brought up a few times, howver I believe the Admin would rather focus on the forum then huge signatures that could slow things down

Name one.

cd.com for instance, you can put a sig line of text but no graphic. I think however that with some creativity we have had some very cool sigs that fit in the guideline no problem.

Graphics are also not on HTGTH last time I checked..

Well as far as links go they have never been allowed here in signatures, that won't change. You are free to advertise in the Aint It Fun section if you like.

I like this policy as if everyone posted links that could get messy and also could lead to virus and other links that we have no control over to the other users
