sword&tulipz
It is no secret that Freddie Mercury is one of Axl's big idols. I guess it is natural then that Axl found inspiration for his own career through Freddie. From what i have found these are the similarities im aware of:They both changed their names. Freddie Mercury was Farrokh Bulsara before, while Axl used to be "Bill" BaileyJust like Axl, Mercury seldom gave interviewsThey both play pianoWide range of genres in their songwriting, and always looking for progression in their work."I hate doing the same thing again and again and again. I like to see what's happening now in music, film and theatre and incorporate all of those things."Freddie Mercury, 1986Both big fans of Led ZeppelinRudimentary skills on guitarWas Freddie the inspiration for this pic?The white pantsThe jacket:(Allthough it seems to be more inspired by Elton John)The moustache? Russel Nash
I don't see a lot in common. Maybe the legendary status. But still Freddie is a God in the fuckin olympus.
ARX77
There's lots of similarities. IMO it's not secret they way Axl dressed during UYI tour was very Freddie Mercury esq I watched a concert of Queen from the early 80's even the stage set up was similar to GnR during UYI. username
There's differences as well. Freddie released music throughout his career. Freddie's voice was consistently good. Freddie's band stayed together until his death. The list goes on....

trqster
Queen is probably Axl's biggest musical inspiration and also the band he envisaged to have. R.I.P. King Freddy!
