ryne Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I'd gonna vote for the 80's, I hate the 80's radio station *puke* and the 90's gave me some better music. Guns was late 80's so I'm gonna shove them into the 90's category just because I wanna. Quote
African Slash Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I'd say 90's BUT only after kurt Cobains Death. Everything before that was good. After Nirvana everything has been shit. No good bands worthy of old legends like AC/DC or Guns n Roses have stood up. Quote
J.T Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I'd say 90's BUT only after kurt Cobains Death. Everything before that was good. After Nirvana everything has been shit. I agree... Quote
Wild_Child Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 90s was shit really. 80s is the best ever. Quote
highvoltage Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 90's suck.80's are great - without the 80's, no Back In Black. Quote
Genesis Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Without the 70's - No AC/DC80's introduced Thrash Metal, but 90's had Opeth. I still picked 90's Quote
highvoltage Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Without the 70's - No AC/DC80's introduced Thrash Metal, but 90's had Opeth. I still picked 90's AC/DC's biggest year was 1980. Not their best in my opinion - but certainly their biggest. Quote
Juventud Guerrera Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I'd say 90's BUT only after kurt Cobains Death. Everything before that was good. After Nirvana everything has been shit. No good bands worthy of old legends like AC/DC or Guns n Roses have stood up. Nirvana was the worst out of the 4 big Seattle groups, Give me Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains any day. Quote
chicagocoma13 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 The 80s and 90s were fine. The worst era is around 2000 when all the mouseketeers started to put out albums--- Quote
cold*heartbreaker Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 ^ I agree. There's nothing bad about the 80s or 90s when you compare those 2 decades to the shit out right now. Quote
stratomaster Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Maybe the 90s, still good by todays standards but I think that's where things started to go wrong. I'd say 2000 onwards for worst decade so far given the choice.. Quote
stradlinrosechik Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I was born in the 80's so I can't vote accurately but from what I have gathered, the 80's was the last real year for music. But I also agree that you can't compare the two to the crap that is played on the radio today. Quote
ryne Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 I was going to put 2000's (or however you'd type it, 00'?) as a choice but we're only halfway through and next year Jesus could return with Jimi Hendrix on his back for all we know. For me, music's last stand was Pink Floyd's The Wall in 1979, none of the 80's bands impressed me, including AC/DC even though I've listen to Back in Black every now and then. Def Leppard sparked my interest for a day and that was it. Somehow I managed to like Stone Temple Pilots and some 90's songs by other bands more than the 80's bands, seems weird considering how much more popular AC/DC is than STP and the way this poll is going. So what would GNR really be considered? I threw them in the 90's category just so they weren't competing with the 90's bands I like. I love GNR but I love a lot of the 90's for some reason. Quote
brud Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 The ninetys was the worst by a mile. It was either depressing or was just shouting down the mic.musics only just getting back to some kind of desency with bands like Hurricane Party,The Darkness,American Pearl,Backyard Babies and the Beautiful creatures. This is proper music. Still not GNR or Whitesnake level but its getting better. Quote
Dan the guitar man Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 The NINTEYS was the worst because you had cheesy pop groups like STEPS and S CLUB 7 Quote
rocketking Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 90's is definitely worse, what with the rise of pop-punk and boy bands. Except for NSYNC. That Justin is just so dreamy! Quote
scottyboy_1986 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 one word..OASIS!terrible...so the 90's gets my votes Quote
Duffan Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Early 90's =Good , Late 90's=trash . Everything after '94 was pretty dull and repitive and well very "formulaic" . 80's was hit or miss for me lots of good - GnR , AC/DC / Metallica , Maiden , and VH , but lots of Garbage - New Wave and "Hair-Metal" . Peace GnR Nation B) Quote

Sl@SH Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 80's all the way! 90's produced a bunch of bands that sound the same and they thought it was cool.ppl will say 90's cause of mr.overated himself.............kurt cobain.but i stand by the 80's era Quote
Larkoth Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 80's was best, remember where GnR started, not the fucking 90's that's for sure, btw when i voted i clicked the wrong one, lol Quote

Peace GnR Nation B) i see where your coming from...it is 'Fake' musicbut then again..isnt most of todays music fake?Rap music is usually just a beat machine on the computer with some guy talking over the top.at least the new wavebands played their instruments...better than a computer punching out the tunes Quote
Gunner Boy Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 (edited) I'd gonna vote for the 80's, I hate the 80's radio station *puke* and the 90's gave me some better music. Guns was late 80's so I'm gonna shove them into the 90's category just because I wanna.I personally think the 80s was the best music decade.....I love the music made in the 80s...THe 90s were ok, apart from the second half of the GnR era, the music was average.....there was good and bad shit....THe 2000's music is a total crap......the worst music decade ever (till now)well, anyway I voted the 90s kuz there were no more options to choose Edited October 30, 2004 by Gunner Boy Quote
UsedToLoveHer Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 GnR bustin out, Metallica at their prime; 80's were great. There really hasn't been much good since '91. Gettin as formulaic and corporate as the 70's. Things need to be shaken up again, but I don't see the trend reversing. Quote
