Juventud Guerrera
I've just bought Stone Temple Pilots greatests hits and apart from 3 or 4 songs (ie Vasoline, Plush, Sex Type Thing, Wicked Garden) they all sound pretty bland. The guitars sound too fuzzy and lack any sort of kick, most of the songs are either slow or mid paced and Weiland sings in that same monotone voice. I'd say they were an average band at best. What do you guys think?
santana
Their first album was great. To this day, it's still one of my favorites. But in my opinion, they sort of went downhill after that.
JeffreyIsabell
i tihnk they rule. purple is a great record
ryne
In my opinion, they're the best band of the 90's excluding GNR. I hate Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and any other band that started around that time. I think the band was really talented even when they started going downhill. Purple's my favorite album. And if you don't wanna hear Weiland sing in that same tone you're talking about then listen to any of the albums besides Core and Purple, although that's when everyone says they go downhill. Bruno
I only like a few songs by them.
cold*heartbreaker
Well I don't think anybody was ever claiming STP to be the best band in the world, but I like some of their material. I was watching the video for "Creep" today, and good lord - Scott used to look so scary. He's much better looking now.
stradlinrosechik
I guess, its true, after a while they do all sound similar. But all in all they put out some wicked tracks..

-Sephiroth-
Core and Purple is fucking masterpieces. Their third album was also quite good, the two newest aint nothing special
Carne_asaDA
If the Greatest Hits album is the only one you've heard, than you cannot judge. However "All in the Suit That You Wear" is a great song and it's only featured on the Greatest Hits album. Personally, I like Tiny Music and No. 4 the best. ryne
If the Greatest Hits album is the only one you've heard, than you cannot judge. Yeah, I didn't really start to like STP until I bought "Core" and "Purple", now I got them all in some form or another. It seems to be hard to find any other album but those two until you go into a bookstore that's overpriced or go online. Somehow I found "No.4" at Wal-Mart. I'm pretty sure the song you're talking about is called "Creep" and yes it's by Stone Temple Pilots from the album "Core". If you find the lyrics they do say something like "cause i'm half the man i used to be" which is probably where the wrong name got taken from. It's a good album, very worth buying in my opinion. eschman
Core and Purple were awesome... Tiny Music was a step down, but I really like No 4, and about half of Shangri La Dee Da.4 would've gone down as a better album if scott were out of rehab to promote it.
