johnezz
EDIT: FOR THE STUPID, A BASSIST IS NOT A GUITARIST!OK, i'm quite bored, and though this was an interesting topic.Of all the bands you like, do you like the ones that have 1 guitarist in them over ones that have 2 guitarists in them.Personally, i'm more of a fan of 1 Guitarist bands.Infact, basically all my favourite bands contain only 1 guitarist, except for a few. Genesis
One, definately. Two reminds me of guitarists that duel, a la Quo. Plus the bass is usually drowned out.Downing and Tipton make a nice pair though.
penz
2, when done tastefully, just look at gnr!
Yamisonic
2, especially in rock and roll music, when you weave the parts and cant tell who plays rhythm or lead, a la Rolling Stones or Beatles.1 guitar bands are cool, too, but I like most bands with two guitars. Ringo
i picked 2, cause its always better to have a sweet rythm in the background of a solo, plus i used to be a rythm guitarist in a band(lead now bitch!)with one guitarist it makes the guitarist seem a bit more legendary, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, so on...i like 3 or more but it only works good if you know how to use three guitarists, Lynard Skynard, The Eagles... sabre
Well if you're gonna have four people in a band it's best to have a lead singer who doesnt play guitar imo, at least when he is singing. So in that case one. But if you can have more, the more the merrier. Look at skynyrd.

Led ZeppelinDeep PurpleOzzy Osbourne's bandBlack SabbathSRVThe Hendrix Experience, and Band of GypsysVan Halen<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Very True, a rythym guitarist in one of those bands would ruin them, and cramp the lead guitarists style.A band only needs 1 guitarist, and a good bassist.Bands with 2 guitarists useally have a shit bassist and the rythym guitairst is shit too. IzzySixx
2 guitarists because i think 1 guitarist can sound weak live.plus i'mn a rythm player myself and i don't rythm players get enough respect for what they do in a band.
Wild_Child
2 guitarists. The rythm needs to be carried during the solos.

caamora4
I said two because i feel it can add a bit to a band, but it realy does depend on the band and the style of the music.
