Maddergascar
Right, I've downloaded this awesome video of Van Halen live in 1983 with DLR. They play this really awesome song but I've no idea what it is. I can't really say very much about it.It's sort of half way between a ballad and a rocker, with a really catchy riff. It's starts off with a quite slow, low pounding riff, then EVH goes a bit higher and faster for the main riff. He plays the song on a sort of mini-guitar and it sounds quite high (but not acoustic). I can't make out much of the lyrics, but the chorus is mainly just DLR singing oooh-oooh-ooh-ooooh-ooooh over the main, high riff. The first line sound something like "see you there on top of the gang and I'm back yeah yeah" followed by the rest of the band singing something that sounds like "taking the rip ahh" then "mumble mumble mumble talk to idle...talk to me" (this second like is higher).I know it's not on Women And Children first, 5150, or The Best Of Both Worlds, but it must be pre 1983. It could be a live cover, but that seems unlikely, since EVH brings out a special guitar for this song.I absolutely must know what this song is, it's one of the best VH songs I've ever heard. Thanks. Binge_And_Slash
Actually, re-reading that I see you mention mini guitar. Now this is going out on a limb as I'm not a huge Van Halen fan, but it might be "Little Guitars" it is by Van Halen, and I do remember some "Oooh's" in that song. JONEZY
Edward Van Halen has always said he hated "Diver Down" due to all the cover songs(Where have all the good times gone,Big Bad Bill, Pretty Woman, Happy Trails). But as a huge fan of VH, I love the album. There are some great original tunes on it. At that point in time, Van Halen was mega-huge, they could not do anything wrong. It's a good album, and it probably doesn't cost very much. I'd probably pay to hear Eddie play a harmonica. Eddie rules!
