finck n fortus's guitar tones suit gnr?

Nuno helped to write "More than Words", which, on guitar and vocals, sounds like it took 5 minutes. I don't think he'd be much help on the writing front, though he's a skilled player. Besides, he's famous from the exact type of band that Gnr shouldn't be pigeonholed with.

Dude, have you heard any Extreme other than More Than Words? Nuno Bettencourt is one of the sickest guitarists around and certainly my second favourite next to Slash. Check out Pornograffitti and on that album tracks like He Man Woman Hater, Decadence Dance, L'il Jack Horny, Money, Get The Funk Out... well basically every song on it. Trust me, the man is a genius on the geetar. The way he fuses hard rock riffs with funk edges and grooves, and the way he can make the most badass funk/rock lead parts into tangable rhythm parts is, to me, phenomenal. The band went down the pan a bit when Gary Cherone started making all the lyrics a bit too Christian and 'Stop the bomb'ish on their later albums, but check out Pornograffitti and I'm sure you'll change your mind about him as a guitarist.

Agreed, he'd not be the best choice for the new GNR sound, but I'd just love to see him play, and with Axl... WOW!!!!

And I hope it is Finck! The guy isn't fit to clean the stage ...regardless it is exciting to hear Axl but don't forget ...the new band hasn't even came close to the old one and never will ...thats half the reason this have been taking so long......heading for a big disapointment

I agree that i think the new band is a joke compared to the old one, but let's not underestimate Axl Rose. He is still a great songwriter and maybe he can carry this band by himself. let's not make any judgments until we see/hear the NY shows . Axl was cool last night and his talking voice sounds better than it did in 2002. let's hope he sings in his raspy voice . If he can do that I think it will make up for the Bands mediocrity. After all, Axl is the reason we care about this band GO AXL!

You think one of the 2002 guys is gone? One is his name is buckethead.

It's cool to see all the old GNR fans comming online to diss the new band. It showes that at least they are aware of the situation

But I don't think finck is gone. Nor do I think he sucks. The 2002 tour was incomplete in many ways. He is a new man now and the man you will see on stage and the band you will see on stage this year will not look like the 2002 line up. Altough there are alot of the same people.

Bucket is gone and Axl confirmed that in the interveiw. He also stated that none of the old guys are comming back. Ruling out any reunion rumors.

I think the new guitarist will be out of the blue and shock us all.

Give the new band a chance and you might see it from a different point of veiw ;)

No, it's Chris Pitman.

Honestly though, I love the band and I really hope the lineup will stay the same now.

I get a good laugh from that banner....they look like the biggest bunch of pretenders the world has ever seen :P

thats impossible to ask of some of these 'fans'.

I went to the Vancouver show , of course that was the riot...........I still keep up to date with the new GNR ...I thought Buckethead was the perfect replacement for slash without replacing him as such...I actually saw buckethead twice a few months ago and he was the last thing left besides axl that was cool in that band ....hopefully the new guy will help because they need it....

seriously I haven't heard alot of amazing stuff from the bootlegs considering how long this band has been at it ......fudged songs at RIR3....fuck ups left right and centre from Finck live not to mention he makes a les paul and a marshall sound like a mosquito

GNR was my favourite band growing up but these new guys don't have any magic

thats not true at all. I was lucky enough to see them and their onstage chemistry is nothing short of amazing. Robin Finck is the best guitarist I've ever seen live.

Are you for real? Finck is the best live you've seen?

Just because we don't want the same thing you do doesn't mean we're a better or worse of a fan than you are. Some of the real GnR fans will never accept the new band. Others will wait and see if they ever do anything. Still others will wait for a reunion, but will tolorate the new guys. The best part about all of that is that we're all still fans, whether you like it or not. You (or anybody else here) do not decide who has the right to be a GnR fan. In my opinion, you are not a true fan, but that's just my opinion. You think you're more of a fan than I am (that's your opinion, which is wrong). Regardless, we're still fans of what we feel is the best GnR. You cannot take that away from me no matter what you do.

I just saw something go flying by...I think it was the last little bit of credibility you had.

Well Buckethead was there so he wasn't even the best guitarist at that show, nevermind anything else.

I accept that this is new band, i hope they do well, some of the stuff they've done is of a very high quality in my opinion, i think axl Rose is a true icon of this industry

but the problem most critics have with this band in my interpretation, is quite simply there not guns n roses

which is ok

because a bands name implys more than one component, it is the plural, thats the difference, im not disputing that this isnt a good band with you, mr "disillusion", im disputing thAT this isnt guns n roses, thats my point of view, GUns n roses is, as ive said before, Slash,Axl,Izzy & duff.

this band i hope those well, i think as to power to do well, but is not GNR

when you understand this point of view, you will understand volumes

GNR

then the offspring

Ju ju hounds/slash snakespit/ velvet revolver/ Axls rose's band

people dont understand the contention here, its purely got to do with the name and what that represents, nobody criticises Izzy or the rest in the same fashion they do axl, because hes trying to continue something which wasnt completely his in the first place, thats the problem

Had he called it something else this problem would'nt exist,

this is not GNR

it is a good band and Axl is and always will be a quality musician

but this is not nor ever will be no matter how successful they become, GNR

this is axls band im sure they'll do well but they are not GNR,

chinese democracy will be (I hope) a brillant album but it can never be GNR unless the members listed are involved in my eyes

i think this is the crucial misunderstanding between camps

its not quality its membership

this coming from someone who spends hours and hours on end posting on a board about a band you no longer like. :rofl-lol: yea i'm the pathetic one here.

I love Guns n Roses. You can't change that. Sorry to disappoint you.

I am glad you are finally able to admit you are pathetic...it shows real growth on your part...I'm proud of you.

Some of the real GnR fans
The real GnR fans stay in this part of the section and post positive things about the band in 2006. ;)

Other, so called 'real' GnR fans have a section too, it's called "Original GnR - The Early Days"

But a 'real' fan supports both versions B)

Yet another thread that must try to define who is a true fan. Only this time, the poster's name is Axlsnutsack, so it must be something worth reading, right? Oh, I'm sorry, you must've been trying to be serious. You've failed.

Here's an idea: Hold on to your curiosity for a change, instead of dismissing the new band on bootlegs and other live songs that haven't been officially released yet. People whine that GN'R these days doesn't deserve their attention because they haven't released anything, yet, they say they suck because of a few live songs that are barely a decent representation of the band. Some of you aren't making any sense.

Hey nutsack, obviously you are curious about the new band because you've claimed to have listened to bootlegs. So, if they are absolutely nothing compared to the old band, why would you listen to the bootlegs? Honestly. You're curious aren't you? Exactly. Your curiosity makes you interested in what this band can accomplish. If you never thought this band could match the old band, then you should not have downloaded the bootlegs. It's so simple, yet you are not making it easy for yourself, and you just set yourself up for another disappointment in life that is 100% your own fault.

Luckily, others listened to the live songs and the leaks without a bias and are able to enjoy them. If you cling onto that bias, that's your own fucking fault, and you have no one but yourself to blame. It's not the new band's fault for not meeting your expectations. That's not their goal, and if you don't know that, then you're in shit up to your knees.

I liked some songs ie 'the blues' 'irs' 'oh my god' parts of better (alot of that is due to buckets amazing solos)

don't waste your time pointing out who did what in those songs (like the solo in the blues) because I already know ;)

And I listened to the bootlegs obviously before I made an opinion  Its not like I wanted to hate it from the get go ...although I always thought robin was a extremely poor choice.....but thats Axls problem not mine :rofl-lol:

I mean ...look at the abortion the VMA's was .....they totally screwed up YCBM in RIR as well as Patience and then there was robins guitar solo

It doesn't matter what anyone says what shows or stuff Axl has done since the old guys isn't even in the same calibre
