Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
How many Rock bands do you like that were new in 1995 or 1996? I can't think of any. Rock sucked in the mid 90's and it was time for a change.

The Third Man
Oasis put out their second album, Morning Glory, at that time and that was an awesome album. But you're right that the choice of good rock at that time was limited
aries41690
music is more about the money these days and what's new and what's going to sell more albums and make us more money.....i think rap is bigger now because in the 90's and even now all you here and herd was depressing music sometimes its good, but if that's what a generation is only about ppl are going to get tired of all the complaining and look for something else

sweetness
I think Rap is starting to die off, slowly and painfully... unless the song in is actually considered a good rap song by people who like rap.Let me guess, it is.
roadkilled
Techno will be next. Or was there already an incident where techno took over the face of music?

rock chick
yah..to sweetness..not all grunge bands are bad...man I really hate rap, put a 'c' at the beginning of rap and what do you get CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!HA! How original! Haven't heard that one before! but, this does bring me to a quote from one of my biggest idols:"Rap is crap, crap is Rap, and you can't spell crap without Rap so Rap must be crap." - Layne Thomas Staley. However..I dont agree with it..there is some good rap music out there..Its just the listener has to put down that fear of something new.. That's the quote I was thinking of.So tell me, in your opinion, who makes good rap music? Edited August 3, 2006 by rock chick
Marky
I think Indie Rock took over in the 90s, bands like Oasis, The Verve, Blur, Morrisey, Ian Brown etc.But credit to Rap music. To overthrow such a powerful genre of music was a great achievement...but i think rock is making its way back now...

rock chick
I guess it's like every type of music, you get good and bad in each, rap has probably been spoiled by the commercialism that surrounds it, and everyone trying to break into the genre because it's popular. Also that type of music gets too much airplay (imo) so people get sick of it!I agree with New Rose, I do like some of Outkasts songs, the tunes are great and Andre 3000 is a lyrical genius, I love Ms. Jackson and Roses Edited August 3, 2006 by rock chick
