adnan
I put him on my top 10 of all time in the other thread, and it might seem odd, but just listen to what he does on some Cream songs. From the falsetto in "Strange Brew" to the effortless tenor in the live version of "Spoonful" on 'Wheels of Fire', to the seemingly impossible vocal transitions on "Deserted Cities of the Heart".He's one of the best, if not the best ever bassist in history, and that often overshadows his undeniable vocal skill. It all just seems so effortless and simple when he does it. Inspiring to listen to.

moreblack
People mention the name Jack Bruce, isn't that enough?
adnan
People mention the name Jack Bruce, isn't that enough? This thread is about how he's underrated as a singer, not underrated in general. It is enough, but I just wanted to bring up a conversation on this. moreblack
I do agree tho, he's an awesome singer, he was certainly the best of the 3 on the Cream reunion last year, he sounded closest to the Cream sound of back then. He did some stuff with Gary Moore that was pretty killer.

swlabr
Yeah, he has a great voice. Deserted Cities of the Heart is just awesome. The little yell he has before the solo is crazy.
johnezz
Jack Bruce is a great singer i think, and i also liked how he shared alot of the singing with Clapton too, like the call and response singing on Sunshine of Your Love and letting Clapton sing Crossroads (and just listerning to Bruce's basslines there!).I mean he's not the greatest singer, and i rate him much more of a bassist then as a singer. bax
He has one of the most powerful voices in rock. I read somewhere that the PA blew during a Cream show and his vocals could still be heard over the blaring amps-pretty amazing if you ask me.
