swlabr
I doubt anything related to Jazz is simple, so the topic description is probably useless. I am wondering if playing "real" Jazz guitar is easy and fun. I wanna get a Jazz teacher mostly because Jazz is a incredibly difficult genre of music to play so it can help when playing other genres. I also like Jazz, duh. So it'll be something I enjoy. So yeah, any opinions when it comes to Jazz guitar?
santana
If you want to learn to play jazz, that's great! Jazz is a really tough genre to master, and it will totally help your overall playing and knowledge. As far as summing it up in a few forum posts, that's not going to happen with jazz. There are so many different scales and chords used in jazz that they is almost no set way to play jazz. As far as any advice goes, the best I can say is that jazz is just like any other type of music; you'll only get as much out of it as you put in to it.Here's a good site that might help you on your way: http://www.jazzguitar.be/

Everything is so confusing Read the lessons on the site. Start with the first one- even if you are familiar with the modes, it's good to go over them for a little refresher. The lessons on that site are pretty good. Learn some of the essential chords and most popular patterns. Get some tabs for some jazz songs that you like then use the theory taught on the site to figure out how the songs are constructed. Learning jazz is going to be tough. It's not like rock where you can take a simple 1-4-5 and rock the shit out of a pentatonic, but after a while you'll get the hang of it. Absouletly mind blowing!I'd like to learn some Jazz, but i dont know if i would have the patience.

Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
I would suggest starting out with Charlie Christian if you want to get into Jazz guitar, although he was brilliant, he isn't as intimidating as someone like Stanley Jordan. Also, he was the original electric guitarist.
