what we have here is ....

A 13 million dollar album that the record company, Axl and the GNR corporation needs to start recouping on and *sigh* long long gone are the days of GNR being on the fringe of society. The streetwise punk element died with the opening strains of November Rain.

No use in finding a bitch about it cuz like they say ... there is no such thing as bad publicity. I think the only redeeming value that I see is "better" went to Harley Davidson and not something like Depends Adult Diapers.....ya know for those old school rockers that have since retired during the long wait for Chinese Democracy.

Oh please. It's much needed publicity. He was letting the music be heard by the mass market.

If Axl appears in an advert with his face on a lunchbox, then people can start saying he's 'sold out'.

Oh, and have you seen the adverts that GN'R did back in the late 80s? They appeared on SO many fucking adverts it was unreal. I don't mean just music, either, Axl and Slash were pimping out magazines and shit all the time.

I agree -I've got no problems with this. I'd be more offende if SCOM was used. You can't sit here and cry about f*cked up management and lack of promotion and then blast them for dropping Better on a Harley Commercial. I think this is only the beginning. I think the band's plan is for the most possible promotion of this album when the time is right

Didn't Chinese Democracy sell out when Oh My God was given to End of Days... in 1999!?

Didn't GNR sell out when they gave Welcome to the Jungle to The Dead Pool... BEFORE GNR became famous?

Not sure the original comment is valid in the overall historic context.

And the post about recouping the $13m is spot-on.

*Someone* has to pay for that chicken coop...

The thing I hate about rock songs in commercials is that when you watch them enough times, you begin to associate the two. When I hear Zeppelin's 'Rock N' Roll', I picture the car commercial. Sometimes when I listen to 'We Are the Champions' I think of Viagra. In the worst case, I'll hear a completely new and awesome song, but its associated with some dumbass commercial that ruins the tune.

Good thing I don't watch fucking TV anymore. All the youth these days are growing up being exposed to great songs under a shit context.

Hmmm "has been bikers" :rofl-lol:

Where I live you see lots of bikers in all age ranges. Having a bike now days is just the thing everyone wants to do.

Now several years back when my husband first got a bike there really wasn't alot of bikers in our area but man that has changed dramatically. We live in a very small town so I know if we have lots of bikers here in all age ranges bigger cities have bound to have more, you'd have to live in a box not to notice.

Shoot half the guys my hubby works with rides, from age 20 to 60 lol.

As for myself I think its great they are lending a new song to Harley, its good promotion for the song and for a cool product. Be happy its not a motor scooter commercial.

If you are referring to has been as anyone over the age of 20 then yeah I guess your right.

I can't say that I'd even want to see a bunch of little teeny boppers riding their bikes down the road, its bad enough when you see the spoiled little rats riding around in big fancy cars that mommy & daddy were stupid enough to pay for before they even really know how to drive that well.

Welcome to the real world. First of all it's for Harley Davidson not something gay like Haynes Underwear. What do you expect with all these hooray for tolerance!s out there who download the songs for free ??? Bands should just sit back and say ho hum I guess we are losing money let's not do anything about it.

if you don't want to associate the new song with the comercial you can simply turn the tv off when the comercial comes on... stop your whining, you make your own choices... and axl makes his... be glad we are getting something... nobody is releasing or promoting this album for YOU... it's as if nothing is good enough, it's ridiculous... have some patience people...

This is a dumb thread. "Oh no! Promotion finally! Axl's selling out!" Once the album's out, I'll expect some bitching about the fucking shrink wrap that covers the album. Can't wait for that stupid ass thread.

Promotion or no promotion, you fucks keep reaching for garbage excuses to bash on anything.

How is promotion "selling out" ?

Be happy they're doing something.

I'm systematicaly ignoring the main section as much as I can because it's going way up on the stupid-thread-o-meter lately.

I'm considering joining you on that one. ;)

Dude, there is a big difference between giving a song to a movie soundtrack and turning your tune into a commercial jingle.

"The hardest part this troubled heart has never yet been through..." might as well be, "The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup," now- actually, that Folgers jingle was once a U2 song, I think ;)

Pubes.

1.) Thank you for posting to my dumb thread... It is becoming quite successful!

2.) Yes, I will diss the shrinkwrap. I've heard it is actually covered with the Oscar-Myers Weiner logo so Axl can have a few extra bucks.

Some people are never happy, people bitch and moan like whores getting stiffed on the bill because GnR are silent and don't fulfill their shitty little need for action and when they do they have sold out.

HD are well known and as such are a great brand name to be linked to, stop being fucking cunts looking for a reason to moan :fuckyou:

It is impossible for Axl to please everyone, and this is just more proof to that. I do not feel like they have sold out for doing this commercial. It's great publicity, and they need a little help in that department in my opinion. ;) Harley Davidson is very well respected. I think it was a good move. Imagine if they used the song in a soap or candy bar commercial?!?! Now THAT would be selling out.

You aren't using selling out in the right context. Selling out is when you compromise your music so that you can be popular. Axl hasn't done this, therefore he is not selling out. It's just promotion, for both GN'R and Harley, plain and simple. And if GN'R is going to pick a company I'm glad it's something like Harley Davidson, which has a cool image.

Oh, and why the hell would this forum be anti-motorcycle? This is one of the most bizarre statements I've read on here, and that's saying something. What is there to be anti about? It's not like we are talking capital punishment or nuclear weapons here. It's a motorcyle, people will either be interested or indifferent. There is no moral stand to take against motorcycles. I think maybe someone just criticized lawrence's sig or something. :rofl-lol:
