sweetness
In my opinion, if you have to use politics as inspiration youve either run out of ideas or your life is boring as hell. But there are some great bands that sing about war and shit, and as long as the music is good Im open to their opinions whether I agree with them or not. But yeah, most if not all are left wingers. Whatever Edited October 28, 2006 by sweetness
Truckin'
In my opinion, if you have to use politics as inspiration youve either run out of ideas or your life is boring as hell. What if you just choose to? Anyway obviously I listen to a lot of political music. In my opinion if you don't appreciate Neil Young you're just a moron, plain and simple. Megadeth are great. John Lennon is just a legend. JeanGenie
you should ask youself why left winged people rather speak about peace while right winged people speak about war.

Gauda
like loads of then pissed of at america and others for having nuculer wepons and all but dont thay unserstand thats its for self defence and while humans are on earth ther is always gonna be war the matter what like thay should come back to earth... we all no it would be cool to have peace but if people are picking fights and all you gotaa do something about it. what do you guys think on thishehe, I love how you use a fundamentaly pessimistic sight of the human race and makes it into an objective one :xmasssanta: And I think we are in the soft part of the marshmellow here, while you and other who are more cynical, perceives the world this way, artists tend to be quite independant and therefore they know that people have the ability to choose war or peace themselves, and if they do, then you can influence them And ofcourse, like kevdo242 said, sticking to the man In most countries left wing politics is found in the opposition, and in forexample the Us there are no real left wing politics, so there are many young, angry bands that wants to tell the world that something isnt right here, thats left-wing! frankwhite
those arent extreme left wing examples, check out like the dead kennedys fugazi etc. Zint61 was tellin me about this one band The Subhumans, whoose members usta like firebomb porno places n exploded a bomb at the missile plant, u should check em out, i did, they kick ass.but yeah, i think politics is a great subject cuz it makes music relevant to the times and whats going on in our world. the best change instigating albums had, however convoluted, a political connotation. but u can wrangle that interpretation out of anything like legs mcneil said, blue suede shoes is the most political song ever cuz its about personal freedom. wasted
The biggest lie is that politicians control things. They don't, they act as if they can to get elected but there are forces beyond their control so strong that they are meaningless. They react to change in economies and peoples views to get elected or they try to form a party which get support. People look at Bush and say he went into Iraq. No, the people who got him elected and the people who support him need him to go into Iraq. He has a certain influence on what they want, the conditions for them best to get paid. He's not laying down the law to military industrialists "Ok boys this is hows it gonna be" He's pandering to them, if only cos they are richer than him and he wants a bit of the action. It´s their expectations that make the politicians act the way they do..Your Bush example was a great one..
Guest katie
well, to be honest america is one of the most powerful countries in the world and not the safest to trust, all the major powers have fucked up reallyi am all for political left wing bands, as long as it is done well, unfortunately most don't seem to realise we have been at war with the middle east since the 1400s and haven't had a break
Carne_asaDA
If you look at rock n roll itself. It has been "left wing" if thats what you want to call it, since the day it was born.
