slashfan31
i've played both and i would go with the les paul
axlslash
I prefer the feel and tone of Gibsons over Fenders. I also find that Gibson craftsmanship is far superior, but that's up for debate. It's really up to which you prefer. My personal preference is the Les.
damagedgoods
if you're playing mainly hard rock the les paul is probably what you want. i prefer strats (with rosewood fretboards and no humbuckers)
M_Riot
My only advice on this matter is to go and play them. Also, if you have gone to a shop to try the guitars - do the decent thing and buy it from that shop rather than wasting their time and then buying it from Thoman. Support your local music stores.Notoriously, the Fenders will be much better made guitars............. but it's whichever one that feels comfortable for you. pain cake
Buying on the name alone is crap, go and play every guitar in that guitar shop and find the right one for you
rQueen
i ve played with both of them but im undecided so....A Rory fan can't decide... xaxaI'd say go study for your exams, totally off topic but I feel like a big sis towards you
santana
I forgot to ask, but why is it these 2 guitars? Have you considered a different model? Why is it that people on here always do the "Should I get a Strat or LP" thread? There's a shitload of guitars out there and life is too short to be fucking around with only 2 of them. Go out there and play every single guitar you can get your hands on, you never know what you may find.
moreblack
from my own experience Strats are better for clean playing, and LPs are the man when it comes to playing distorted.

Giblet
from my own experience Strats are better for clean playing, and LPs are the man when it comes to playing distorted. That's completely subjective and depends on a number of issues. My Strat has a hotter bridge p/u than my Les Paul.I'd say look at some high end ibanez guitars as well.

sabre
If you're not able to make this decision on your own, you shouldn't be buying a 1000+ euro guitar. Edited April 24, 2007 by sabre

Giblet
Cost has nothing to do with it. Play some nice Ibanez guitars, they're not all the same. Either are all Gibson, in fact, I'd say stay away from a new Les Paul.
aidlook
Nah...pre-made is for sissys....Build your own, much more rewarding. And you get to decide everything.

Depends what you like to do with your penis I guess Edited April 25, 2007 by pain cake
