Golden Years Of RockN'Roll
Anyone else think this is a great song? I just realized how much I like it, and I'm not really sure why By the way, what does levee mean..? Sorry if I sound stupid , but I couldn't find it in the lexicon and nobody knew... JDRM
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiif it keeps on raining.Fantastic song. One of my favourite Zeppelin songs.A levee... when a river gets high on a flood plain it deposits it's load on either side of the banks. If they break.. then it's likely the surrounding land will flood
DCGNR
Great songIf you don't know what the hell a levee is by now, do a google search on Hurricane Katrina
Marky
Apparently Gas Panic! by Oasis is a bit of a rip off of this song. Anyone shed any light whether it is?
moreblack
Ah the power of Bonham, probably the most sampled drum sound in hip hop is in this song...
Yamisonic
Ah the power of Bonham, probably the most sampled drum sound in hip hop is in this song...YepHe was the first dude to use that rhythm, I think... And it's been used a trillion times since
Zint
The drumming...absolutely!Listen closely to what Bonham is doing in that song.It sounds so simple but it's very complex. And very hard to keep it going on time without any flaws.I've seen many a drummer attempt it...it's hard as hell to do.And yeah...it's a motherfucker of an awesome song! pain cake
Awesome song if it was maybe 3 minutes shorter, just get bored when someone isn't singing and there isn't anything really interesting happening with the instrumentals (Zeppelin do it a lot)
Golden Years Of RockN'Roll
Awesome song if it was maybe 3 minutes shorter, just get bored when someone isn't singing and there isn't anything really interesting happening with the instrumentals (Zeppelin do it a lot)Thats the only thing I don't like so much with Zeppelin, but their songs are so great that I forgive them that Actually most of my favourite songs are among the shorter ones, like D'yer Mak'er, Tangerine, Over the hills and far away, Houses of the holy, Heartbreaker, Black Dog etc, but the lenght of the song haven't got so much to do with if I like it or not (What did I say there? ), if a great song is long, it's just better

moreblack
Carey's great, but he didn't play in Led Zeppelin. And that's who this thread's about ain't it?Unless we're talking about the original version of the tune which I'm willing to bet only ODS has also heard...
