Somebody somewhere please just leak all the Chinese sessions recorded up to 2012. Probably safe to say nothing of substance was tracked later than that.
It’s about time.

The employees are told to lie about doing an album and this is just flipping through a few years worth of quotes. There's a lot more of this for the last thirty years.
"[Guns] were supposed to do some stuff this month [February], but we haven't done anything up till now and in March I'm gone [on tour]. Maybe [there's still time] in February, if we can come to some sort of an agreement as to what we're gonna do." (Slash, Metal Edge Magazine, 04/95)"When this tour ends, it's a six-month tour, in August, I'll go home and basically, we'll regroup, so to speak. And then, Guns will probably spend a little bit of time in the studio, and then we'll be on the road for a while." (Slash, 06/05/95)
"[Slash] also enthuses about the new material Guns N' Roses have been writing. Apperently, the band members are currently trading tapes amongst themselves [before the actual recording sessions]. "It's amazing stuff," he says." (Slash, Kerrang, 09/21/96)
"Guns N' Roses is back working together again, according to bassist Duff McKagan... "We've been in for two weeks as a full band with Slash and Axl (Rose) and me... Dizzy Reed is also back." (Duff, Addicted to Noise, 08/30/96)
"With Guns, there's no problems with material. The problem has always been getting us in the same room. So now that we're in there, it's rockin'." (Duff, Addicted to Noise, 08/30/96)
"The songs are really good, and I have a good vibe about it. I wouldn't want to go out and do a bad Guns N' Roses record." (Slash, Kerrang, 09/21/96)
"The record will be all up-tempo rock songs ("No ballads," McKagan said firmly) and it will be just 12 songs, with a release planned for next spring." (Duff, Addicted to Noise, 08/30/96)
"So far, Slash and McKagan say the band has worked up about 16 songs, and the bassist reports that: 'the material is really strong...This record is going to fuckin' rock. There's nothing like the chemistry of Guns when we're in the same room.'" (Total Guitar, 01/97)
"H.R.: Duff told us that the deadline is for Spring 97...
Matt: Absolutely! We want to tour next summer. [...] And now, we work together and an album will be released in 97." (Matt, 09/23/96)It’s so fuckin sad reading this.
In an alternate timeline, we got 2000 intentions and another record or two after that.
This band fucked itself royally in the ass

I find Guns N’ Roses very hard to pin down to a date
Slash, come on lad. You’re the lead guitarist in one of the most successful bands of all time. Surely you are able to give more info than this. (Or is he? )
8 years with 4 singles. Kinda baffles me. Very slow year for Guns. Keeping my interest elsewhere with Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon releasing new albums. Also going to see PJ live for the first time ever this year!

There's a drum machine there. And I believe there's some Axl rapping that obviously wasn't included in the final version. That's how it sounds to me:
Good effort.
Monsters is absolutely missing that Bucket solo.

Announcing the release date for a frickin video’s a bit of a stretch. Now if it were an EP or album (it won’t be!), I could understand

Ron is a good guy. He was essentially bullied by the other guys (at least when he first joined the band) and got sick of the bullshit and drama from Team Brazil. In my eyes, he had plenty to moan about.

Fucken somebody somewhere must have Monsters with Bucket and Finck. Would be tragic for us not to hear that in studio form

I get it, for I've done the same half my life, all the way up into adulthood. Us abused children are (ironically) the ones who keep trying and trying to repair the family. It's a coping mechanism and there are many factors to it. One is securing your survival. You learn early on that when you adjust yourself to the wishes of your parents (they're the ones that feed and clothe you after all) you will get less abuse and more affection (at least in your child mind). You shapeshift into the perfect version of the child your parents want. You become a people pleaser. Axl has always been very generous, and not just because he has the monetary means to. It's an attempt to buy people's love, to put it simple. It's way more complex though.
Another factor is that we're always the peacemakers, the ones who always reach out our hand again and give them the chance to make their wrongs right. To show them we're here and willing to forgive - if they wish to clear their debt, so to speak. Cause sometimes abusive parents, as they grow older, realize they don't want to die with the burden of the guilt of having done this to their children. Many seek forgiveness. Axl has even talked about this - that he's been the one to always go back and reach out again and offer forgiveness.
And yet another factor is that the child in you believes that when you make your parents proud (by buying them a house or a car or inviting them into your successful life) they will finally respect you. Like "When they see how the whole world loves me they will love me too". That's why many abused/neglected children seek the spotlight. Even if they're terrified of being on a stage, it's the only way to finally be seen and (in their mind) adored. You hope that by achieving great things you will finally get the nurturing and love you never got as a child. Axl has said how he always kept inviting his family to his shows and they never came out. It's a sad cycle and many former abused children try their entire life to win this game.
Sorry if this was too long. But it really is very complex and surely not easy to understand.Very insightful (and true) 🌹

I stopped our shared Spotify playlist last night dead in its tracks to make an announcement that I wanted to play an unreleased Guns N’ Roses song. I threw on “Monsters” and cranked it up loud. Then I forced people to listen to me discuss the merits of the song, the bridge, how Axl referred to it as one of his heaviest moments, etc.
I’m a lot of fun at parties.
What was the general reaction to the track?

Happy New Year fuckers!!!

My money’s on Fermanager. He could see the shitstorm brewing online with the botched release date and threw in Monsters to clear up the confusion. Can you imagine how said shitstorm would’ve spiralled out of control if we only got to hear The General when fans had believed for over 10 years that Soul Monster was The General?
Sounds batshit crazy but that’s my take.

The biggest for me is, if only Chinese had been released in 2006 off the back of the momentum built that year. We might well have seen part 2 sometime between 2008 and 2012. From 2012 onwards it was all heading towards the reunion
