  1. Hey guys feel free to move as needed just wondering if there are any Arcade Fire fans here, and if anyone is going to the UK shows this summer? I have a ticket but no one to go with!

  2. I appreciate what Andre is saying vis a vis siding with MSL. That being said, despite the fact we obviously agree on near enough everything, the shit you've pulled on occasion I.e pretending to have leaks, trying to gain either attention or trying to "play the horders" just screamed "I wanna be MSL". I'm not saying I think you're a brown nose, or even a bad guy, just that the history you've had makes it hard for people to defend you.

All that aside, I think you're a pretty cool guy :P big love man.

  3. That was honestly beautiful. I don't want to get into a x vs y thing, but it does just show the talent that exists in this band, and is currently criminally underutilized. That being said, none of us here are aware about what actually goes on behind the scenes of this band. But I truly hope that some of this magic has been laid down with the intention of one day being heard by all of us.

  4. Meh. It's good. Nothing special. Like 90% of PJ's songs since what? Ten?

I thought Backspacer was a great album. I listen to it really often. Amongst the waves, Unthought Known, Just Breathe most notably.

As for the new song. It's alright, nothing brilliant. I'd be worried if that's the strongest song on the album.

I love Backspacer... I agree with your choice of songs too. I thought it was a nicely balanced album, had the rockers like Got Some, and The Fixer and then songs like you mentioned.

I hope that the new album follows this formula :)

Not me. I thought Backspacer was their weakest album by miles. Too produced, too poppy, too content. I'm really hoping for a much feistier album. Mind Your Manners was promising. If that's the most radio-friendly song they have then I'm definitely encouraged.

I'd go as far as saying since Binaural, personally. But yeah, the song isn't really amazing and I wish they'd get off this faux-punk thing they've been on for years.
vs, Yield, etc all have their share of good songs those are surrounded in a sea of fillers. And it's always the punky lead single, a few (2,3) more "rockers" and a bunch of Eddie Vedder acoustics that I can't stand. The last three albums have been like this. There are two shots at completely different directions every time. It's like the band loses inspiration after 3-4 songs and Vedder comes with his own songs, IDK.

I don't know that I've read a more inaccurate statement about Pearl Jam. Vitalogy, No Code, Yield are all complete masterpieces. Riot Act is pretty damn good too. When the mainstream doesn't like it I know it's good.
Ah fair enough, I guess I liked that about Backspacer (the happy content bit :P ) but I can see why it's not for everyone :) don't get me wrong I love albums like Vitalogy as well, although vs. is probably still my favourite :P

Fair enough to you as well. Isn't it a stark contrast how PJ fans interact and how GNR fans interact?

Lol very true, it's a nice change of pace :)

  7. I'm gonna chime in... I think Queen are overrated. I've listened to a few of the albums since my friend is a huge Queen fan. They've never done anything for me. I know it's entirely subjective but it's just how I feel. I can appreciate Freddie's stage performance, and I admire it. I just for particularly like the music I've heard. But anyway...

I think the Artic Monkeys are overrated. Just my two cents...

  8. I wasn't musically aware in the early 90s since I was like 4 I think, but over the past couple of years ive gotten into PJ massively. I think part of the appeal to me is the classic rock kinda thing they hve going on, whilst still retaining some punky thing. I think Eddie Vedder said he loved the who, and yeah I think you can hear that. I just really enjoy their music, their style, what they have to say etc. One of the few bands I actively follow alongside gnr... So that's pretty high praise I guess :)

I can see why people don't like then though, but I mean I can imagine that we as a group have the ability to understand why people don't like Guns you know! Music taste is so subjective, quite a personal thing. Personally I prefer PJ to Nirvana, but I see that there are many who like it te other way around. And that's cool.

  9. Sorry for the follow up post, but I have finally got through the entire album ... Wow. That's all I can say. Their best album by far. Consistently brilliant. Favourite track may well be contact, but it's probably subject to change. But all in all an amazing album. I'm torn between this or the next day being the best album this year... Ill sit on it and hopefully arrive at a decision some time, but at the moment RAM has the edge :)

  10. I got about halfway through the stream before I had to dash out, but thus far pretty solid. Very different to what I was expecting prior to get lucky dropping, but upon reflection pretty good. I can see it being a love it hate thing; no middle ground as it is quite a big departure in some respects from what people may expect, but undoubtably it has insane levels of hype right now. Just read that get lucky has sold over 500,000 records in the UK... Not a bad figure by any means :)

  11. I think Sorry trumps What You Wanna Be. I find that WYWB is a little too cliche musically. Maybe that's the wrong word. I guess it just don't do anything for me. Too generic perhaps. I really like Sorry, it's probably my favourite song on CD, and I've thought that since it first came out. I always loved the eerie kind of vibe the music grants to already haunting lyrics. Just more my kind of thing I think :)

  12. He is GNR... That is all....

In all honesty he probably does a lot of the live production stuff... Like all the effects and things like that... I'd imagine he's more important in terms of studio stuff and writing... Silkworms, enough said

In serious pitman does all the sound fx and background synths. Every touring act has a guy who does that, but he generally isn't included as a member of the band. Pittman is.

Just to confirm; I was being sincere... I think it's cool he's a band member, since I actually dig what he does, and enjoy the thing he does live :) I think that he doesn't get the credit he deserves but hey that's just me :)

  14. I guess one example of artistic integrity could be Neil Young... I interviews he often states he does what he wants not what anyone else wants. It doesn't equate to experimental or diversifying your output but just doing what you want refusing to meet expectations, even if sometimes they correspond. The Stephen King example mentioned earlier kinda comes into this. He does mainly write horror, although he does do other things ie shawshank and things like that, but I don't think he does it because its expected, but because he loves it.

  15. Like it or not this is the most exciting thing to happen here in ages... I respect that msl can't leak things, but the very fact that we have almost official confirmation of the existence of things in circulation is a good thing no?

Not really. We have confirmation that there are loads of completed songs out there but we haven't heard them anymore than we've heard this stuff so it makes no difference.

Only in terms of titles and working titles via Axl and the band. We speculate they exist bit to my knowledge this is the first legitimate (sans the checkmate incident) claim of being in possession of actual material, even if it is only remixes and a tommy song.
Huh? Numerous band members have talked about original unreleased songs. Why would you rather trust MSL than band members?
I mean In terms of material being circulated outside f the band. We all know there are hundreds of pieces of songs in Axls vault and that there are probably at least another albums worth of finished songs within the band, but outside of the band this is surely the closest we've come since the good old leaking days to having certainty over our potential to acquire music?

    xXx

The number of songs ranges from 20-80, but those could've been songs band members brought to the band, rejected, and used for themselves. Axl verified some of the song titles, but that's all we've got.

What about Goin Down, Tonto, Cuban Skies, Blood in the Water? Axl never confirmed those, yet we saw in numerous setlist Going Down, and then we heard a clip from Blood.

True, but sans blood in the water we've never heard the songs themselves. My point isn't to insinuate that there are no songs other than what MSL has, but rather that for the first time since the leaks we are aware of genuine circulation of unheard remixes/tracks possessed by people outside of the band. Seeing a track title and knowing the track exists are two different beasts
