Sorry, disagree with you there. At least in my state, our highest peak last year was Nov and Dec and we just hit this peak this year...in mid Aug! Wtf will that mean for us this coming Nov/Dec then? Holy fuck, telling you now, not good. Not good at all!!!! Especially when you have a Trumper governor AND a Trumper mayor in the largest city in Alaska.
I feel for you, but we’re in NSW Australia, we’ve been in lockdown since June. OP was discussing possibility of GNR show in November not being cancelled (which is not a possibility 🤣we’re not doing well)

Greater Sydney lockdown has been extended to at least end of September. I fear the OZ/NZ tour will be rescheduled or worse, cancelled, and new music postponed yet again. I hope I'm wrong and I'm just being a pessimistic penis.
Realistically we’re not getting out of this until December IMO. Especially considering we’ll have daily case numbers of 1000+ next week and only 30% of the state are double vaxxed.

I've never felt mankind in general has the right nor the wisdom to decide over life or death.
At the same time there are certainly cases to be made, like ssiscool did earlier. From mass murderers to rapists to war criminals. I doubt, if they'd caught him at the time, many would have felt Josef Mengele should be allowed to live after the horrible crimes he commited. And if some pervert would put a hand on my daughter, my reaction would most likely be to kill him with my bare hands. But still... from a remote and objective perspective I'd say man shouldn't be able to decide over life or death.
But that raises the question, what should we do? And that's quite hard too. It's easy to say we should put them in a 2x2 meter cell with some straw for a bed and a shitbucket to live out the rest of their lives on bread and water without any daylight. There's something very strange in saying "this person committed a horrible crime so we will now spend thousands worth of tax money so that they can live out their lives in good conditions in what is just about a hotel room". I could ahrdly defend that one towards a victim either. I do feel the risk these people pose to society should always outweigh the rights of the perpetrator. You simply can't explain, as a government or coutnry, that a rapist, pedophile or murderer you put a "rehabilitated" stamp on falls back in their old ways. Certainly not to the victim and/or their families. As they so often do. So yeah, if you can't kill them, where should you put them and under what conditions? That's a hard one...
Not sure what you’re basing the idea that regular American prisons constitute ‘good conditions’? And prison is cheaper than executing them due to the (obviously necessary) appeals process.

Has there been any cases say in the last 20 years where after execution it's been shown that the person was either innocent or that new evidence since has shown that their guilt was questionable?
If the answer is yes to either of those the death penalty has to be scrapped and the state is no better than a murderer. Its as simple as that.
If the answer is no to either of those, the state is still no better than a murderer. State sanctioned murder is medieval horseshit, regardless of the crime committed.- 4

So basically, you would have started with something like "Ascension" (Duane Barry II) and still end (correctly) with "The Truth", right? Interesting!
Started with 2Shy (S3) ended with Zero Sum (S4) 🤣including all 11 seasons...it’s a weird ride

You can’t blame them for wanting to give it a better ending. Especially considering the last few seasons (not to mention the series finale) were SO bad that they even managed cast a pall on the good seasons. But the show has so totally faded into obscurity that seems like...too much too late or something.

The X-Files is my all-time favourite. I hate when some of the gen Z spoiled internet smartasses diss the show these days, not realizing how cool it was (and still is) back in the 90s, with today’s dozens of new sci-fi shows emerging on Netflix every year. It’s like denouncing Deep Purple or Led Zep just because it doesn’t have the sound of 2010s Limp Bizkit or whatever the hell. Lame.
As I proudly related a while ago, I spent a good portion of quarantine re-watching the show, but in alphabetical order because...it seemed like the nerdiest way I could do it. it was heaven.

Now I'm on season2 of The Sheild.
Oh, The Shield. The most unsung show of our modern ‘peak tv’ era. You’re in for a hell of a ride going forward. -
In Search of Darkness. A 265 minute documentary on 80s horror movies. Fucking bliss.

He's not in the doc, as far as I'm aware. He would have told me if he was. What he told me was that John K was a taskmaster and hard to satisfy. As far as the grooming part goes, the evidence speaks for itself from the victims. It wasn't an open secret but he really didn't put in any effort in saying "I'm not a pedophile." John K likes younger girls. He has admitted he does. But there is a difference between a younger girl in their early to mid 20's and a minor. John K likes more of one than the other, if you know what I mean?.
Anyways here is a demo reel of his animations. Back in the day, primarily in middle school, he wrote a comic about me called "Farmer Jeff." I wish I still had the drawings/comics because it was fucking hilarious.
That’s so cool!
What the movie does really well, is manage to both acknowledge his brilliance while holding him accountable by letting his victims and his understandably disgruntled former employees get their say in. That the filmmakers pull this off, I think is particularly important in the present era.

Never heard about this. I loved R&S back in the day. Have you ever seen that R&S Adult Party Cartoon reboot? It was godawful. A friend of mine, I went to middle and high school with, was a layout artist on that show. I've heard some REAL doozies about John K from him.
I didn’t know it existed until it was covered in the doc. Your friend might be in this! The original crew of artists are interviewed extensively. And yeah, long before it’s revealed he was grooming 14 year old R&S fans online, John K comes of as a titanic asshole.- 1

Fantastic dive into the history of the most artful and deliriously perverse animated series of the 90s. It also does a commendable job of handling the messiness creator Jim K. brings to the table (turns out he has some, er, inappropriately aged ex girlfriends).

The Americans - I've tried to get into it a few years ago, watched 6 or 7 episodes and couldn't connect with it. Tried again a couple of days ago. Great fuckin' show. Highly recommended.
❤️ My favorite of the last decade. It’s so dense and rich and banging of soundtrack.

I've been wanting to watch that but can't find it anywhere, what streaming service do you use?
Can't remember if I've already said this but I've started watching One Piece and love it. 5/5 so far.
In Oz it’s on Amazon Prime and SBS on demand. The first season is a very mixed bag but its peak period (S2 - S6) is golden.

Re-watching The X-Files in its entirety. But in alphabetical order for the hell of it.
