I’m not comparing by any means GNR (or any band that plays actual music) to Bad Bunny. But Bad Bunny if I’m not mistaken, releaSed an album in March I guess. It was promoted on Jimmy Fallons show. The artwork, album name and track list was revealed on his show. It was a complete surprise for all his fans. I’m not sure if it was released as a digital album or physical too (I guess it was released both ways). GNR can promote Hardschool on Jimmy kinmels show and that’s how you create expectative on people.

It's easy as fuck to release music these days as long as the artist actually wants to. Hell, you don't even need promotion, you can literally drop an album the same day as a surprise and let it build its own buzz (you know, as long as its actually good). You know that would be HUGE news if a band the size of GNR just surprise released something, and it would work better for them too since no one would have time to build any expectations.

In 2009-2010 Axl punched a paparazzi, delayed shows for over two hours, attacked a MYGNR moderator in an extremely profane rant, released a "fuck TMZ" press release, got pissed off at the V8 Supercars show for daring to release a possibly fake quote saying he would have a blast at the show (LOL), cancelled the tour on Twitter, refused to leave the stage at Reading, walked off stage in Dublin, ect. My theory is the leeches became afraid Axl was going to bring the whole thing down and insisted he start taking medication.

I believe he got on meds around that time too. His whole demeanor changed, he suddenly gained a lot of weight, and he seemed to lose a lot of the fire and drive that made Axl, well, Axl. That said, he does seem to be in a lot better headspace these days, and I'm happy he's got his shit sorted out enough to be at peace with himself and the rest of the band as far as we can all tell.

  3. I just remembered that these leaks happened and I'm finally getting around to trying to tracklist an alternate version of CD from the complete songs with vocals. It's something like this:

    1. Chinese Democracy

    2. Hard School

    3. State of Grace

    4. I.R.S.

    5. Oh My God

    6. There Was A Time

    7. Catcher in the Rye

    8. Madagascar

    9. Atlas Shrugged

    10. The Blues

    11. Riyadh

    12. Perhaps

    13. Prostitue

Oh My God is a bit of an outlier but it does help give a bit of energy to the first half of the tracklist before it dips down into more moodier, slower stuff. And while it doesn't make an AMAZING album, it's a pretty damn good one.

  4. Last month I got to see two great shows back to back: Thrice playing all of Vheissu, alongside support from mewithoutYou (who are breaking up at the end of this year), and one of Ed O'Brien's (Radiohead guitarist) very first solo shows. Both shows were incredible, because Thrice is an all time favorite band of mine and Vheissu is their best work imo, and it was such a treat yelling every word along to it. And Ed's solo stuff was a wonderful surprise, it was a lot more upbeat and jammy than most of Radiohead's stuff, and Ed is a great vocalist in his own right. Really looking forward to the release of his album!

Unless entertainers are talking about an illness or dieaaes,  cancer for exqmple ,  or some national or worldwide national diaster, CA fires or USA hurricanes for example, they all really need to STFU. They ALL need to STFU about things like : the environment, politics, racism, sexism, etc. Entertainers are the most hypocritical , uneducated, and narrcistic people. Back to W.Axl Rose and his anti Trump talk. Funny,  ridiculously comical, but had he still been Lafayette,  Indiana citizen and  no W.Axl Rose Malibu  living GnR rockstar all over the world, William Baily would have been the biggest Trump loving,Trump rallies,  Trump voting and supporting  fan.

And I am not a Trump fan.

Funny how traveling the world and meeting/working with every walk of life will open someone's mind.  It's easy to hate the world and think Daddy Trump will fix everything when you live in a tiny community of like-minded and like-looking people that's never had to step foot out into the wider world.

I would expect something like that from Ministry. Remember the whole Bush albums saga of theirs? I wonder what Al thinks these days.

He's definitely not a fan, lol. I saw Ministry in 2017 and they had a giant inflatable chicken on stage with Trump's hair and a crossed out swastika, if that tells you anything!

Perhaps he doesn't really want anything and therein lies the problem.  Perhaps when your whole motivation is and always has been being angry about something then that kinda is what your direction is/what you're about.

That's a good point, actually. He's mined just about every personal grievance a person could have at this point, and I remember him admitting on a song around the MMLP2 era that he'd basically said it all. It's just crazy that we could live in a chaotic world like the one we're in now and someone as smart as Em could have so little to say about it. Darkness was one of the best songs on Music to Be Murdered By because he was actually looking out at the world around him, imo.

I don’t think people in their middle age make pop music that will knock you on your arse, I just don’t think it happens.

Maybe not pop, but there's a lot of interesting directions the dude could've gone in that would've continued to wow or excite, instead of basically becoming a parody of himself for the past decade. I used to be obsessed with this dude and it's really a shame that a month after his newest album dropped, I haven't felt a need to listen to it or any of its songs again in probably 3 weeks. I wish the dude would stop obsessing about his public reception and just do whatever he wants, instead of trying to play to the perception of what he is or used to be.

  9. Eminem's finally fixed the tailspin he fell into with Revival, but it still feels like he's coasting now. This album is actually surprisingly solid and well put together for the most part, and I enjoy most of it well enough, but nothing on it knocks me on my ass or feels like something I'll still be listening to even a month or two from now. I'm glad he's dialed back that annoyingly choppy, raspy shouting flow he's been using so much the past few years, and it's nice to hear some actual rappers guesting on an Eminem album again too. The only song I outright fucking hate is Stepdad though, the bars themselves are so cringey and there's something really...off about a nearly 50 year old man rapping about a stepdad he had 40 years ago.

  10. Bands should really fucking hang it up before it comes to the point where they're publicly eating each other alive in their old age. These dudes are all at or nearing their 70s, do they really need MORE money that badly?

  11. This is what my schedule looks like for the rest of the year:

October 13th - Explosions in the Sky
    October 27th - Russian Circles w/ Windhand

November 16th - Billy Corgan (maybe...might be a bit rough with my work schedule)
November 29th - Between the Buried and Me & CHON w/ Intervals
December 1st - Cattle Decapitation w/ Author & Punisher, Full of Hell & Atheist
December 20th - Daughters w/ Health & Show Me the Body

And this is everyone I've seen so far this year:

March 9th - The Black Queen w/ KANGA & Uniform
    April 5th -  Deafheaven & Baroness w/ Zeal & Ardor
April 13th - Dance Gavin Dance w/ Covet, Hail the Sun, Don Broco & Periphery
June 2nd - Mastodon & Coheed and Cambria w/ Every Time I Die
June 14th - Full of Hell w/ Elizabeth Colour Wheel, Limbs Bin, Genocide Pact & Primitive Man

If I don't miss anything this will be the busiest year I've ever had show wise, and that's after thinking I wouldn't beat last year's 13 shows.

    2 songs into this;

Still behind my earlier opinion; he has no power, its very nasal, there's almost no difference in pitch (high/lows), on the second song he's struggling to keep up and if you look at his face it looks as if it just hurts to sing.

    Hang it up, JBJ.

So many problems with this show, holy shit. For one, the background vocalists seem to be mixed higher than Bon Jovi himself. But beyond that, you're right, he looks and sounds like he's in pain for most of the notes that are outside of like...a speaking range, especially on the notes he tries to use vibrato on. And then he passes off so many of the lines to the crowd...jesus, I can't imagine being a fan and shelling out potentially hundreds of dollars to hear someone that sounds like an 80 year old man croaking.

  13. All these leaks are everything I wanted during the 2004-2009ish era when I was totally obsessed with Axl's vision for a new Guns N Roses. I just wanted to hear all the crazy stuff he was experimenting with, that he believed in so much that he'd torpedo his reputation and lock himself in a studio. I'm listening through Rough Mix CD1 right now and it's amazing how clear and stripped down it is compared to the final version of CD, I love it. Now to wonder if that fabled industrial version of CD is lurking somewhere...

  14. I saw Babymetal two weeks ago and it was easily one of the most fun shows I've ever been to. I know they get a lot of shit for being what they are, but the riffs deliver, their lead vocalist is a genuinely amazing singer in a live setting, and the dancing is so well choreographed and performed. Plus, New York goes fucking hard when it comes to crowd energy, so it was a great night.

Probably tied for their best album, with All Of a Sudden I Miss Everyone.

I haven't heard a good chunk of their catalog so I'll have to check that one out! I absolutely love Cold Dead Place and anything that's on par with that is good in my book.

  16. I've spent way too much money the last two weeks on vinyl...this is what I've picked up:

Dance Gavin Dance - Acceptance Speech

Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place

    Weezer - Pinkerton

Weezer - Red Album (yeah yeah, I know)

Nine Inch Nails - Broken (2016 reissue)

    Tigers Jaw - Spin

Pearl Jam - Yield (So glad this got repressed! Now to just snag Binaural and No Code one of these days and I'll have all the PJ albums I like.)

    Secret Band - LP2
