Axl eats breakfast three times a day...
-
is this for real?...

I'm guessing Duff Beer (King of Beers) in the Simpsons was named after Duff? Anybody confirm this? Or was it the other way around?
Duff himself has said that Duff Beer was named after him. I can't find it now, but it was one of his SeattleWeekly.com columns.
(I actually saw about dozen cases of Duff Beer a couple of days ago. It was cool. I live in Finland, so that shit isn't everyday-stuff to me.)

Axl could've been nicknamed Hizzy...
Hizzy, Whizzy, Izzy, Dizzy, Duff and Matthew...
-
Dizzy sounds the lamest. Gn'R already had a guy in the band called Izzy. They should've started calling Slash Whizzy, after they got Dizzy.

Why would you want to get one? You're not a rockstar who could pull of that look.
Why would someone have to be a rockstar to use that hat? "Ordinary people" can dress like rockstars too. To me, wearing that hat is more understandable than wearing a rolex with shitty jeans. Can't stand people who do that.
Because that's how society works, get used to it. 99,9% of people will think you look ridiculous, but if you wear a rolex and shitty jeans more people will be willing to accept you.
The more status you have, the more you're able to dress like an idiot, because society has already accepted you.
Well, yeah, sure a lot of people don't get dressing a little out of the ordinary, but why should someone who wants to, care? I think we should encourage each others, and not just say "sorry, you're not a rockstar, you can't wear that, you'll look like a tool". Since when rock fans can't dress a little different. If you want to, do it...smoking looks more stupid than wearing that hat...

Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
Rob Zombie - Hellbille Deluxe
Monster In The Machine - Butterfly Pinned (well, they did only one album)
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
Brides Of Destruction - Here Come The Brides (they did two albums, so that too is a bit iffy)
Limp Bizkit - Three Dollar Bill, Y'all
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
30 Seconds To Mars - selftitled (their first record is great, the rest suck assload of balls)
Mudwayne - L.D. 50

I hope that CDII:
- sounds more of a "band record" than CD, which has that copy-paste feeling. (I still love it, though)
- comes out 2011 or 2012.

Welcome to the Jungle...

It's a pretty decent book. Can't wait for Duff's book. I think it's supposed to come out this year.
-
That "ok,never mind" should be in the studio version...the song just isn't the same without it.
-
The other day I ended up giving my details to one of those street charity clipboard people just because she was sexually attractive.
Same thing happened to me once...she was so hot, there was no way I could say no...that's so unfair they use hot people..

Seems like a sweet deal! Ron is the man!

This is an interesting question because I listen to all these bands pretty much and of course play their songs, but I also try to learn all sorts of music. From Kiss to Avenged Sevenfold and beyond.
My main influences on guitar:
Wes Borland (Black Light Burns and Limp Bizkit)
Munky & Head (Korn)
Slash (mostly VR-era)
As for songwriting:
Wes Borland, Korn, Guns N' Roses, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Velvet Revoler.
My playing (and songwriting) style is like Wes Borland meets Slither's main riff meets Nine Inch Nails with an occasional Duff McKagan thrown in the mix. So, not that great or amazing, but always interesting.
-
Can't wait! Their first record was awesome. Hope the second album is too.
-
Freese is so amazing that he can do whatever he wants. The guy has played on every record that's ever been made. And actually, Paramore doesn't suck that much. It's just easy to trash them because they're a young, new band that plays a little poppier music and because so many trash them and they're famous and hot right now (or they were a little while ago atleast). I think it's cool that they're living their dream, which is more than I can say.
-
I don't mind that this "new" band is called Gn'R. To me they're just as much Guns N' Roses as the old band. And it's true that Axl kept the name cause it brings more cash. But if he would've gone solo in 97, called his band Axl Rose, made kick ass music and toured and toured and toured, there's a pretty good change that the Axl Rose-name would've became HUGE. Even more huge than it is now. Just like Ozzy after Black Sabbath...but the past is past, and I, myself, am happy that Axl (and Guns N' Roses) is still making music.

The whole band doing an "interview"...it took forever, but yeah, cool as hell! ...more, please!

Sorum is a good drummer (I think his drumming on UYI is great) and for some reason he seems like a nice dude, to me at least. He actually knows Duff and Axl, so he can say whatever he wants. We all have opinions here and so does he. No need to bash the guy.
But I don't think "Axl sang for Duff". I wasn't there but if Sorum sees it that way, then okay.
-
I think that he isn't angry at the things you mentioned. Or I hope he isn't anymore. If only those things can get Axl to write then he would be too one-dimensional. He can be angry at himself or because of politics and things like that. Those kinda things give birth to a lot of good aggressive songs.
For ours and his sake, I hope he is past that what happened in the 90's.
But yeah, I kinda share your opinion. That he has to maintain some kind of anger. I just hope that it is "positive" anger and not that negative, depressing kind.
-
Guess you can say they got me to Velvet Revolver. Although I was a fan of VR even before their first record came out ...and still am...But Gn'R got me into Duff's and Gilby's solo records. I liked NIN before I listened to Gn'R. I got into Guns because of Aerosmith and because 2002 VMA's (believe it or not) .

That interview proves that Ashba isn't another yes-man...it's cool that he said that "cold day in hell"-stuff and still complimented slash...
GNR fans should be proud
