  1. Soooooooooo what next!!!! did anybody call yet?

You know what im gonna call them myself now, ill be back in a minute with a reply,.

i just called that number it was an answer machine for some one called sarah Conell who is out on a course all week. I left no message as to me it sounded like a private number rather then anything to do with Radio 1

Oh well, worth a try. It was definitely listed as a Radio 1 number before; I guess it must no longer be in use. but try Googling for "BBC Publicity Contacts"; once you're through to someone - anyone - in BBC publicity, you can find out who to contact regarding Radio 1 and get through to them. A quick Google comes up with a wealth of possible phone numbers...

  2. It's not that hard to find proper contacts with the aid of a quick Google search. Have a look at the bottom of this page, for instance...

Anyone fancy giving Maxine a call?

I'm in college just now so I could only email her.....and it appears its not even a valid email address, returns a delivery failure notice. Hopefully someone phones though :book:

Arse, looks like she's left the BBC. Still, I guess the phone number will still connect, if you just ask to speak to someone from the Radio 1 press office. And pretend you're calling from a magazine.

  3. I see what you're saying. I guess what I'm asking is if BBC Radio 1 carries the kind of weight that would make it desirable to debut a track on it. I see how the albums are weighted differently, but really Contraband did weigh heavy for the band members, because it was their biggest chance of a comeback of sorts.

Er, it's probably the biggest station in the UK. And the BBC is about as reliable as you can get; it's the largest broadcasting corporation in the world:

Hah! Once again, the plucky Brits trump the Yankees! :D

I emailed the general queries department and received this...
    Hello,

Thanks for emailing us at BBC Radio 1.

We know a lot about music here, it''s what we do. however we don''t know

everything! Sadly, due to the massive amount of enquiries that we get at this

email address we''re unable to personally reply to everyone, but each email is

looked at and, if we can help, we will reply.

    <_<

  4. We know from accounts of many artists including Brian May and Moby, that their "sessions" were completed five and eight years ago respectively. So there is a huge "liniage" of material. And I am sure there is some GREAT material that will never ever be heard by anyone.

Of course it'll be heard. In 50 years or so, after Axl's dead, the record company will raid that vault and milk it for all it's worth.

  5. WATCH THAT: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wDxXjq-9g0I

    Think 2 minutes...

Do you get it now?... NOTHING will ever replace a guitar combo. It took 8 years to find the real deal, to find the right guitar combo.

Ouch... that's disturbing... I was expecting them to kiss each other at any moment.

Well, be honest - is there anything more homoerotic than two guys playing "Beautiful" at each other on their phallic guitar cocksticks and pulling O-faces while they're doing it?

Anyway, Brian May. I met him at a signing once, I was completely star-struck... He's great. One of the first musicians to have a blog, too (in the days when the word "blog" hadn't even been invented...).

  6. Ben, seeing as I don't post there, ask if there is/was any truth to what BumbleFoot reportedly said about "The record company getting in the way of the release of CD" or something?:)

I have asked this question in the thread bud. I don't know if I will get an answer

    '

There was a post a day or 2 ago by a guy who say he was in the front of the GA and Bumble walked up in street clothes and the poster asked him if CD was gonna be out and the record co. stuff was his answer and he was also asked if it is even done and Bumble gave an akward facial expression.........

I think the general concencus about the story was that is is BS....no one beleives that Bumblefoot was giving this info out to just anyone who asked.

Random thought - could the record company be demanding that Bumblefoot re-record Buckethead's parts? Just from the point of view of promotion, it makes things a lot simpler if you can point to the guy in the promo photos and say, "That's Slash's replacement". As opposed to, "That guy in the bucket played the parts on the album but the beardy fella plays his parts on tour, but he's really a proper member of the band". Simple messages penetrate better than complex ones. Also, it makes Axl look like less of an ass; "That guy with the bucket left the band" implies that Axl's driven away yet another bandmember the same way he did Slash, Duff and the rest.*

*note, I don't personally believe he drove Slash away, I'm just saying that's what people could think...

  7. It amazes me how these companies release these statements without having a fucking clue of how guarded this information has been...and they go " oh and yeah, were working on that Gn'R cd..nothing too important".

    Are they really morons?

In fairness, they probably weren't expecting the Legion of GNR Fans to swoop upon their post and minutely dissect it.

  8. watch this: http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/abelaboriel.html

They kinda have the same style don't you think?

For those who dont know who Abe Laboriel is, he is probably the most demanded session man on drums in the world. He played for Paul Mc Cartney and many other big names.

So that's who that guy is. I keep seeing him playing with loads of artists and wondering, "Who is that huge guy pounding the hell out of the drums?" He's cool. :shades:

  9. Well, I'd say go for the 80s/90s Axl look, because his 2002/2006 image isn't that well-known outside of GN'R fandom. Beyond that... well, pick anything you like!

    SG

  10. This is my favorite band, no matter what. I will support them, no matter what.

That's the way it should be. I just don't understand why many of the vets are all of a sudden changing their tunes all of a sudden. For the longest time, we had nothing.....now it's right around the corner.

I think the problem is, it's "right around the corner" but there's no promotion, no buzz. It's kind of touching that some GN'R fans have so much faith in their idol that they think this album will leap straight to #1 and see off all the competition - but we're dealing with commercial realities here, people. All those guys going, "Who the fuck cares about Jay-Z's new album competing with GN'R, he's just a rapper?" seem to have lost their grip on reality; there are a lot more rap fans than rock fans nowadays, and if GN'R try and compete with him - especially with no promotion - they're in for a rude shock. Hell, maybe Axl has some grand master plan for selling a multi-platinum album with no promotion mere weeks before the release, and I'll be proved wrong. I'll be interested to see if that's the case.

Blind faith in Axl's mysterious ways will not carry the album to #1, though. They need to get off their asses and start promoting this thing now. Monthly music magazines are working on their November issues now; they need review copies, or at least a listening party. TV stations are scheduling for November; they need to make space in their schedules for GN'R specials. These are facts; this is how the industry works, and GN'R needs to work within that system.

  11. He doesn't use the internet, or the phone.

Dizzy said in an interview they use both to contact each other

I read he doesn't use the internet, the phone, and he doesn't take pictures.

I don't know how the communicate. Fax?

    Carefully modulated body odour.
