As long as none of them don"t re-record over buckets parts I'm happy,
I want his parts to remain 100% UNFUCKINGTOUCHED
wow thats a triple negative, does that mean as long as all of them record over buckets parts you will be happy?
-
i wasn't insinuating axl was planning CD back then just asking what peoples perceptions are about that one oart and whether you think his motives and aspirations have changed drastically or remained similar over the years
-
here is the first part of the 1990/1991 loder interview
at around 7:30 axl mentions doing shows and how the stage show will be done for UYI /dust n bones tour,
Axl also says he want to get to the point where he can do 3hour shows. do you think this is something that Axl still wants? after Tokyo 2009 and the trouble at Reading and Leeds with the promoters not wanting to increase GnRs time on set. Could this all be tied together with Axl wanting to do bigger longer shows?

I honestly don't see GNR as a "nostalgia act",and am glad they released one quality Album as opposed to multiple mediocre Albums, charts and critics don't dictate my taste in music,I know what I like, and I know how GNR has operated,I don't understand why
"Starting on time" is relevant, I don't have a set bedtime, and don't sleep immediately after a Gig anyway,So I have a varying opinion, and am more than willing to understand and accept the way GNR is, "Rock Rules" is an oxymoron
Trilogy. You used to have some good input, but you are taking things out of their context.
We have not on ONE POINT in this thread been discussing if GNR´s lateness on stage?! It was you who brought it up, and I wonder why?
What we have been discussing however. Is the question that with the lack of released material from Guns N´ Roses, there MAY BE A RISK of them turning into a nostalgia act.
Another run of "The Chinese Democracy tour"...you know....
My input is that a regular scheme of releases since 2000, would have been making the old lineup seem less relevant today.
Geez...
sorry for the double post
i found the last sentence here really interesting SM, i seem to remember Axl once saying something along the lines of "i want to buy AFD" like it was a time in his life and an album that he wanted to destroy, obviously i am paraphrasing here, i cannot remember exactly however that could be an interesting point.
Could a more constant stream of new music make old GnR less relevant in arguments or balance the fans between old and new GnR more (similar to Roth Vs Hagar), or was the option chosen to take a long tme producing one album that was representative of the entirety of new GnR and the future of GnR the correct way to go?
-
Not to step on any toes, but this is my honest opinion:
Put out albums more regularly
Have a solid line up and keep it
Band photos
Music videos with said band in the video
Band interviews
No gag orders
Have less songs from pre-new-GnR played live(big hits only)
While its correct that its not uncommon for bands to take a 6 month break or even a year off, most bands do the above(Megadeth, Metallica, Maiden etc) so its no big deal when the band is inactive from touring.
im definitely not going to argue against that i would love to see and hear more from GnR and i really hope that this lineup is permanent because i really like the combination, i just dont think you can vount them out as a nostalgia act EG Journey, Foriegner etc at this point
-
the band finished an european tour less than a year ago. its not rare for bands to not do much for less than a year, look at bands from a similar time like Iron Maiden sure they were around before GnR but they went through similar lineup changes and are of similar ages etc, they will do a tour and then you dont hear anything of them until they announce something new.
i think people are announcing GnR death Tolls long before they are due

I have just been looking at the topic RE: the countersuit and Azzoffs claims, and something struck me. Every time i read something that axl has done on a website or in a magazine/paper it seems to be given this slant that some implicates Axl as being at fault for everything regardless of has actually happened
Death and Taxes said of the suit
"Not willing to face up to the fact that it was a complete dud, Axl Rose is suing his former manager Irving Azoff for allegedly sabotaging sales of comeback album Chinese Democracy."
http://www.deathandt...e-irving-azoff/
cant find the other example i was thinking of right now, but so many of them seem to acting like Axl is the bad guy for sticking up for himself, his band and HIS intellectual and creative property. I find that disgusting journalism!
can you imagine if somebody that the media liked more like Elton John or Bowie were in a similar position to Axl right now? they would be hailed as the saving grace of music and bastians of truth sticking up for the smaller artist again the big bad Azzoff. why do they still have to be negative about Axl?
-
strange isnt it how the media reports these things

he's great with the fans as long as you are outside of North America. Ya, there is the odd interaction in North America, but they are few and far between.
maybe it's because these other countries have genuine fans that love him first...
what do North American fans do first? They BASH him.
Can't blame the guy for appreciating where the love is coming from.
You're full of shit man. Want proof?
Axl posing for the HUGEEEE 20 seconds before Vanessa tells them "we have to go". This is in Townsville, Australia. Definetly not the US. Looks like the fans were "appreciating" him but he definitely was not all smiles. What's your logic there? This is definitely not an isolated incident either.
watch this video while the chorus to "if the world" is playing its so fitting

i really get the impression that the interviewer doesn't get how big a deal he should have made over axl being interviewed, thats probably one of the biggest interviews of that guys career and he seemed pretty nonchalant about it
-
i love the copy and ste effects on the broken glass, no production company would ever put something out like that, so i though it was obviously fake within about 8 seconds, now the real question is:
was this done in Adobe After Effects or Apple Motion? and should the creator have watched a few more video tutorials on the software?
-
Im really looking forward to this album, but i found myself having apprehension at starting the video, maybe because heroin diaries was so good. But im glad i did, killer song, SIXX A.M are far better than Motley ever were in my opinion

i think its hard to pick a favourite one there are a few
SCOM I love the use of verite in this video, gives it a documentary feel that really worked, especially when juxaposed with the superbly composed shots of slash, it made him almost godlike
WTTJ i love the intertextuality with a clockwork orange showin axls transformation to rock star, to me this video is all about axl, and to me GnR is too
Estranged is big, overblown and probably a little unnecessary, thats why i love it, possibly my favourite music video ever
Dont Cry the camera work and editing are really good on here,i really like the band on top of the car park/ helipad (whatever it is) its got real energy to it especially next to the slow moving narrative shots

music videos
in 2010
I know the music video in general isnt alive as it was say 10 years ago, i am currently studying digital video and broadcast production for my HONS degree, and i always wanted to work on the big music videos (epic or overboard depending on how you look at them) the sort you should for people like prince, MJ, or GnR, it was well paid and got you recognised (look at david fincher), however i understand that isnt really an option anymore.
as well as finding the Brownstone video i also saw that segment on the Kevin Smith DVD and he mentions prince in particular as having worked on many videos that never saw the light of day, tracks and albums too. thats part of what made me think of this thread, thought it could be interesting to hear others opinions.
I still think there is a market for the MV however it is confined, as you say, to Youtube/dailymotion and websites, so maybe the days of the expensive/outrageous MV are all behind us now?

looking around on youtube i came across this
Mr.Brownstone official video
I thought i had seen it before but wasn't sure, it got me thinking, I have heard of other artist (particularly Prince) making a lot of videos that never see the light of day, seeing as we all know there are songs that have been recorded over the last 14 years or so what do you think about videos. maybe for CD songs?? (better being a good example), but maybe a song that was never intended to be on CD but promo for the band?? 'Oh My God', "Crash Diet" or something else maybe? do you think it exists?
i just want to point out that i am not saying this stuff does exist or that it should, just questioning the possibility
-
i dont see a problem with slash / jungle / VR DLC, i think this is a case of axl being paranoid and obsessive..
but, if i did have to pick something to go hmmmm about, its the inclusion of a
sticker with the game.
Yes, this along with the fact that Activision went astray
of the contract, This is not a money issue,it's setting a precedent,if Activision was allowed to carry on with this cheap charade and cheat on the terms agreed upon, that would undoubtedly open the door for others to exploit GNR as well, It's a well thought out lawsuit and I'm sure nobody is surprised that the Activision nonsense, that has been previously mentioned is now being sorted out.
not just for others to exploit GnR but also widens the door for music exploitation in general, its not like the music industry isnt corrupt enough already.
and to all those people saying that axl has no right to not want slash involved. why is that your business? legally axl has the say and its not your place to argue is it? are you one of the developers? directors? or producers of GH?
when activision spoke to page and plant about a led zep iteration, they listened to the plans activision had and when they were asked about the multitracks page said 'dont be silly' are you going to slate zep for that?
Axl has some serious hatred for Slash. This lawsuit is about being lied and fucked over by Activision, but still it says alot about Axl.
what does it say? that he doesnt like
"being lied and fucked over by Activision"
or are you inferring something else there?
-
activision were clearly in breach of contract from the story here and therefore are in the wrong, that is what contracts are for is it not? to establish these boundries beforehand, preventing things like this from happening? then surely axl is in the right??
i have shown scripts to a lot of people, my work. i have also worked on several short films which i have written/directed, does this mean to say that somebody who was a runner in the production can go and associate themselves with my legal or intellectual property? no, they cannot. does bucket market himself as GnR guitarist? no
but axl isnt suing slash he is suing activision, its possible that slash didnt know about the previous contract which ssaid he wouldnt be used to advertise it, or that VR would be mentioned, activision isin the wrong and were probably hoping that it would slip by as so many things do for these big companies
-
y'know theres some really good fan sites and message boards for fans of GnR, maybe RJ88 should join some
-
they used shacklers but i cant remember chinese democracy being used

Martin Birch he has the same attention to detail and pasion for getting the best out of people as axl, could be a great partnership

i think maybe axl could grow mechanical arms too...... okay maybe not
streets of rage 2 on the sega megadraive (Genesis) had people named after GnR Slash was an enemy who carried a knife or broken bottle, duff and izzy were enemies too i think (izzy may have been playable its been about 17years since i played it)
i know the main character was called Axel though
