There's some big names in there where it feels less like lesser acts have to resort to this and more that its a broader promotion. Are Nickelback, Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Shania Twain, and Snoop Dogg/Wiz Khalifa not great selling acts?

It may just be that particular shows from those names aren't selling and those shows in certain markets are on the list. Taylor Swift will never be on this list. I doubt Metallica is either. Granted I'm just a fan and don't know the insides of the business but if these Gn'R shows are selling as bad as people on here say why wouldn't you dump 1,000 tickets for $25 (this $25 promotion is almost always lawn /back of amphitheatre/upper deck seats with few exceptions) and get people in the building who will probably buy merch/beer?

For a good laughD3-F25155-B246-420-A-87-B2-BA11-A236-AA4 check out how many tickets are available for the Phoenix show 😂

Then it'll end up on Groupon and that live nation $25 all in sale that happens every year. Between merch and beer sales everyone still makes money.

GnR is playing the same night as Maiden. I thought they hated each other, no? Who’s opening for who?

Makes sense to have ACDC and Ozzy on the same night. That gig will be historic!

I'm sure they are both playing full sets. That's why there's no other acts. But if you want to be technical, the bigger act is closing each night: Guns, AC/DC and Metallica.

  4. The Pretenders are a group I probably know a couple songs by,but I'd watch if I were there for Gn'R.  Same with the Darkness. No clue who larkin poe is. I remember Poe who had a couple minor radio hits in the States decades ago.  I'm guessing these openers are better than whomever will be playing with Gn'R in the States.

    But what about this:

Ozzy Osbourne cancels 2023 tour dates, says spinal injury means his 'touring days have ended' The 74-year-old Grammy winner and former vocalist for the metal band Black Sabbath said that “my singing voice is fine” but that he remained physically weak.

Money talks. He's most likely getting several million for a couple hours on stage. This could just be a one off,not part of any tour. And if you read the link I posted this was apparently supposed to be the final Black Sabbath show so he's still got that to cash in on as well. I saw Ozzy in 96 and some say he was past his prime then. I can't imagine how bad it is now but people love nostalgia.

It's a festival.  There are going to be a ton of bands

There are most likely no other bands. The lineup was leaked this afternoon on inforoo. They are apparently doing a different version of the Desert Trip festival from a few years ago and I don't believe there were other bands besides the six main acts.

When does the lineup actually get announced?

Angus will probably play a song or two with GNR again, but what are the odds Axl does a song with ACDC? If he does, I hope it's a Bon song like Highway To Hell...

The 30th. It's all over blabbermouth and every other site so all that's left to leak now are the ticket prices.  Axl may already be on his way to Aftershock when AC/DC performs.

I saw something like,"Axl takes selfies with fans!" YouTube video, and Axl had a miserable looking frown on those selfies like 😐 Fans responded something like,"Axl doesn't look all that happy in those selfies and other Fans responded,"He's being harassed for Selfies. I wouldn't look all that happy either!"

I and several others on this board have pics with Axl. Most were at a hotel or airport I'm sure. He has that look because he's been asked for pictures for the last 36 (?) years. But if the worst part of his day is some nerdy Gn'R fans wanting an autograph or a pic with him, then I think he'll be ok.

  8. GnR is possibly playing this Powertrip festival in California in October. Metallica just teased something about them playing as well. Iron Maiden and Ozzy have posted the same video as Metallica. So that's 3/6 rumored acts. AC/DC and tool are rumored as well since they also shared the video. So if Gn'R is the rumored sixth act, they have yet to share the video. If they do,I could see the days being:

    Ozzy/Metallica

    GnR/tool

    AC/DC/Iron Maiden.

And using Metalica as evicence that new music doesn't move tickets is a poor choice, they literally have a new song out and album coming in April.

They have Pantera/WVH and INK/FFDP opening along with reasonably priced two night tickets. The draw was that and a completely different set each night of the weekend. I doubt people are flocking there to hear lux aeterna.

I remember this too and I was salty. However, I go to a lot of shows and waiting it out has not worked for any of them this year. Something changed with ticketmaster/live nation. I was waiting out arena dates like Smashing Pumpkins and tickets never dropped. Dealing with Ticketmaster ALWAYS makes me feel like shit regardless. And it's always the diehards who get stuck paying the highest prices.

Bruce Springsteen tickets for a recent show dropped to $6 on StubHub. I can't imagine  that a SP arena show didn't drop to below face value on there.

I just looked and not one of the Upcoming US Metallica shows are sold out, maybe you are talking about Europe, I dunno

All that's left for the first New Jersey show is official platinum. To me,if there aren't standard tickets left, it's sold out. I guess no show is ever truly sold out then since there's official platinum and fan to fan resale along with StubHub, Seatgeek etc

Point stands that new music from most legacy acts isn't gonna move tickets.

I can take a risk that this tour sold to Live Nation is not going to be a commercial success. The stadiums won't fill up like on previous tours. I predict this because that's what happened to other bands like Kiss, Motley Crue, and others that don't release music and think that touring is their ticket machine. I prefer ten concerts with the classical lineup and ending activities, rather than embarrassing myself by hearing Axl almost die singing on stage.

The new tour name: "We’re F’N Back again!" 😄😄😄😄

A new album isn't gonna sell tons of tickets. Metallica sold out many of their shows a year or more in advance for 23/24 not due to the album coming soon but because they promised a different show each night of their weekend stand and have openers that can shift tickets on their own (fake Pantera for one). Plus I think they did some kind of decently priced package for both nights. Stuff like that moves tickets not a new album featuring absurd.

Scalpers can grab them anyway because you can buy a Nightrain membership + ticket day-off. For example, one of the options on today’s Fenway presale is “Nightrain standard membership + ticket” with presale code GNR.

Unless it's a smaller show,I doubt scalpers are going nuts buying GnR Tix.  I guess a smaller pit could net someone a profit on those tix on StubHub but this isn't exactly Taylor Swift levels of demand here.

Yep. I wish they had a spark of creativity left, but I think it's probably time to accept that bird has long flown and accept money is the only motivating factor now.

    Safest band in the world.

It's only been 15 years since Chinese! They still have a new album card left to play and after that the AFD reunion tour card/40th year band anniversary.

Exactly. The promoters run a business to make a profit. They aren't insane GNR fans giving the band money so they can keep doing shows. After mech and beer sales I guarantee they turn a profit on every show.

I can only imagine what GnR pulls in merch every show between the $50 shirts, lithos, posters etc. Even if Live Nation only gets 20 percent of that, between that and the beer sales ,they are laughing all the way to the bank. Not to mention the tickets they sell at full price to people who don't care to wait for prices to fall below face value on StubHub.

    a whole week off?

Ok,I didn't see that.  Still can't see them adding MSG but I guess you are right, that big of a gap must be to fill in a couple other shows because I can't imagine it's cost effective to have that much equipment out for a week doing nothing.

  17. 4 minutes ago, Stryker said:

You make great points, but I think the lack of sell out can be attributed more to the fact that they’ve played this venue three or four times recently and less due to the day of the week.

Hershey Rd. 3 is also confounding.

Not really. Hershey park is a huge tourist attraction. I'd imagine they  get a decent walk up crowd on the day of shows there .Not sure what the numbers were in 2021 but I was there and it looked pretty well attended and it must have been for them to be brought back two years later.
