  1. A little off topic, but you know, I thought that being an "exclusive" with just one company might keep the album from leaking early, seeing as how they could probably keep a tighter lid on it, but AC/DC's album leaked almost three weeks early, and they have their deal with Wal-Mart.

  2. From MTV...

Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy Will Finally Be Released November 23

Web site claims that's the day long-awaited LP will land on Best Buy shelves.

    By Chris Harris

Well, it's looking more and more likely that Guns N' Roses' follow-up to 1991's Use Your Illusion albums, Chinese Democracy, will actually see the retail light of day in our lifetime.

Last month there were rumors that frontman Axl Rose had inked a deal with Best Buy allowing the chain to be the album's sole purveyor, and that GN'R's manager, Andy Gould, told 900 Best Buy employees during a Dallas convention that the LP would be on store shelves by November 25. Now comes word from Hits Daily Double (you need to register to access the site) that Interscope has arrived at a hard-and-fast, set-your-clock-to-it release date of November 23.

Although a spokesperson for Interscope had not responded to MTV News' requests to confirm the report as of press time, Hits Daily Double claims the record will drop the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, giving the record a full seven days at retail before entering the December 2 Billboard chart; typically, albums are released in the U.S. on Tuesdays.

With the site reporting a firm release date, it seems Chinese Democracy is finally imminent, but without label confirmation, the report could just be the latest in a long string of rumors. A track from the album called "If the World" accompanies the closing credits of "Body of Lies," the new thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. Plus, Guns N' Roses' song "Shackler's Revenge" appears on the new "Rock Band 2" video game.

If the report is true, then November 23 marks the end to what's been a 17-year saga, rife with broken promises, confusing delays and rock criticism punch lines. And you'd have to imagine no one could be happier about it than Rose himself. In 2006, in an online posting that promised the band would do its best to have the record ready for release that year, the frontman said that "to say the making of this album has been an unbearably long and incomprehensible journey would be an understatement.

"Overcoming the endless and seemingly insanity of the obstacles faced by all involved, not withstanding the emotional challenges endured by everyone — the fans, the band, our road crew and business team — has, at many times, seemed for all like a bad dream where one wakes up only to find they are still in the nightmare, and unfortunately this time it has been played out for over a decade in real life," Rose continued. "The true ongoing behind-the-scenes triumphs and casualties are much more complicated than any negative speculation that media or otherwise has managed to hit upon. For much of the time some form or another of legalities have been taking place that really the best way to deal with publicly was to keep our mouths shut in an attempt to ensure the best outcome and especially one that wouldn't jeopardize the band or the album."

Despite all this, and with fans growing increasingly impatient for a taste of Chinese Democracy, Rose has still managed to tour — successfully, at that — as Guns N' Roses. The road to the record's release has also been littered with numerous leaks (one reportedly facilitated by former baseball catcher Mike Piazza), false starts and a number of sightings, where the singer has reportedly previewed his magnum opus for complete strangers. In 2006, Rose stopped into a New York nightclub to celebrate his 44th birthday and played 10 tracks for the club's owners and a group of friends.

  3. Billboard and Harddrive radio have posted rumors in the past, but they always let you know that its just a rumor. To my knowledge they dont post something as fact unless their sources are 100% sure. Now anything could happen, and Axl could pull the deal at anytime, but I think as of right now this deal is in place and this info is correct.

As far as harddrive, this post from today is what im talking about. When they are posting something that is rumored, they make it clear like in this post.

Rumors are running rampant around the net about Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham of Led Zeppelin. Talk is they want to tour and Robert Plant does not. But according to an interview done for MuchMoreMusic, Twister Sister's Dee Snider (also the host of "House of Hair") spilled the beans that the remaining Led Zep members may decide to either tour or record with one Myles Kennedy, who happens to be the singer for Alter Bridge. Apparently Dee is also managed by the same manager that handles Robert Plant. Plant has said publicly he has no intention to tour for at least another two years. So we will just have to wait 'n see. Meanwhile, Alter Bridge are about to embark on a tour of the UK. I think the truth on all this will be made clear very soon.

  4. I could be wrong, and with this album anything can/could happen, but I dont think some of these really credible sites like Harddrive and Billboard would post this as fact unless they were 100% certain thats the release date. I'm 99% convinced this is finally happening, and hopefully we get something official very soon.

  5. Ok guys, this is about as legitment of news we will get until we get something "official". Harddrive radio doesnt post rumors as facts unless they know for sure, so now I believe this is happening.

Here is there post from today. Not saying this is 100% accurate, but this site has A LOT of credibility, and I believe them because they are 99% of the time right.

Well, the new Guns 'N Roses (I have such a hard time saying that when Slash is not involved) album, "Chinese Democracy," will be available at your local Best Buy store on Sunday Nov. 23. It will be everywhere else, I think, on the 25th

    http://www.harddriveradio.com/pages/dirt.asp

  6. From Hits Daily Double:

GUNNING FOR TURKEY DAY: Guns N’ Roses’ long-awaited Chinese Democracy album on Geffen/ Interscope finally has a release date. The album will hit all Best Buy stores, where it is an exclusive, on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, giving it a full seven days on sale before entering the chart on Dec. 2. Best Buy’s sales week runs from Sunday through Saturday night. (10/8p)

    http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/

Would be smart if true. We'll see!

Isn't Hits Daily Double a pretty reliable source? I know its under "rumor mill", but it seems that they have been right about a lot of things in the past.

  7. This album is fucking incredible.

And Lars said in an interview today that he doesnt care that it leaked, he is just glad it leaked with only 10 days before the release date.

I cant say enough good things about this album, its a mix between Justice/The Black Album, amazing.

  8. Another new song has been put up for stream on www.metallica.com called "My Apocalypse"

And holy fucking shit, it sounds amazing. I am at a loss for words. It sounds like a cross between Kill Em All and And Justice For All.

I like the other two songs, but this is what I have been waiting for.

  9. ffs since when was The Unforgiven a song worth 2 sequels, are they so out of ideas....my expectations for the new album dropped a lot

This is ridiculous, you have not heard one song on the album, how can your expectations drop based purely on the song titles?

At least wait until you hear the first single, song titles have fuck all to do with the actual music.

  10. DAVE MUSTAINE: 'BUCKETHEAD Is Probably Twice As Good A Guitar Player As Me And SLASH Combined' - July 18, 2008

Erin Broadley of SuicideGirls.com conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine after his July 10, 2008 appearance at the Guitar Center store in Hollywood, California for a very special installment of "GC Sessions". A couple of excerpts from the chat follow.

SuicideGirls.com: One thing you've said before is that when you were growing up you had people like Angus Young or Jimmy Page to look up to, but that now you don't see a lot of virtuosos in metal bands.

    Mustaine: Yeah…

SuicideGirls.com: Why do you think that is?

Mustaine: I think the reason that there are no, or not as many, guitar virtuosos right now is we went through a 10 year period when LINKIN PARK had come out and bands like LIMP BIZKIT that had a lot of success that were based on urban lifestyle and, uh, that whole hip hop, yo yo yo… Dude, you don't have any soul, you've got no funk, and you're fucking white as far as I can tell, [laughs] you don't have any rhythm. I'm not a racist or anything like that, and I certainly know there's great rappers in all different walks of life, but when you take away the guitar solos… people think that's the secret… have some lines and lyrics that are cool and "I'm wearing the right hat," or "I'm wearing the right windbreaker," or "I've got the right bling on," or whatever.

I was just watching — I cant believe I'm actually saying this — but "Access Hollywood", I was watching that or "Entertainment Tonight", with whatever his name is, and I agree with what the guy says a lot of the time. He's a snotty, smarmy kind of guy but he's right most of the time. He was talking about some of the stuff that was going on 10, 15 years ago with artists and it's true. Think back when MC Hammer was around. Everybody wanted to be MC Hammer. And now everybody hates him. It's sad. For me, I wish someone would have come along and said, "Listen, people are going to take your money, they're going to befriend you…" It's like, how many times have you been the last guy in the bar? Or like when your partying with your friends and when your last doob is gone, so are they.

SuicideGirls.com: M-hmm. When the party stops, your "friends" go away.

Mustaine: That was something that I found really hard to face because in this business you rely on people and you think that you've got friends. But they're not your friends; they're just people over there doing your old lady and your drugs [laughs].

SuicideGirls.com: Right, and it's also bad when the instrument or the guitar becomes secondary to the personality or the hat. Then it's like wait, wait, wait… where did the musicianship go?

Mustaine: You become a caricature of yourself. Well, see, when I think about a guy with a hat, I think of Slash. And I think Slash is an excellent guitar player. He's one of my favorites. That's a guy that's pulled it off.

    SuicideGirls.com: Yeah, Slash is amazing.

Mustaine: He's brilliant; I love him. But then you see some guy like Buckethead… Buckethead is probably twice as good a guitar player as me and Slash combined, and can stand having fried chicken rubbed up against his face all night for a couple of hours.

SuicideGirls.com: Is there anything that really excites you about metal these days?

Mustaine: Well, I'm diggin' on what's been happening with Gigantour. Gigantour's been helping a lot of the younger bands. We had a tremendous run last Gigantour with IN FLAMES and CHILDREN OF BODOM. We just had some really super exciting news yesterday about one of the bands we're going to lock up for the next Gigantour and as soon as we can tell you we will. But it's very exciting. When the call came in and I was like, "Really? Really?! They're not wanting to headline over us? Really?" These guys are music of the people of the moment. And for them to want to play with us is great.

  11. They have released 6 songs so far off the new album, "Stand", "Surrendering", "Into The Sun", "Bitches Brewin", "A Kiss Before Dying" and "Consider Us". I have all of them except "Consider Us" which I cant find anywhere (other than Itunes) and im not buying it when the album is like two weeks away from being released.

All five of the songs sound fucking great, I love this band and im glad they are back.

If anyone comes across Consider Us lease post it or pm it to me, thanks.

  12. I'm not a big fan of Jay-Z, but this was pretty funny. I think he handled this great.

Watch video of the performance here

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7P3MY384B4

By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Seema Patel

A reported 100,000 fans and one Greatest MC of All Time, holding a ... guitar? Jay-Z commanding a huge crowd is a sight we've grown accustomed to over the past decade-plus, but doing it with a guitar strapped to his shoulder is a new one. Sir Hov of Brooklyn headlined the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday, and one of the highlights was Jay doing his own rendition of Oasis' "Wonderwall."

"Today is gonna be the day/ That they're gonna throw it back to you/ By now, you should've somehow/ Realized what you gotta do."

Of course, all of this was in response to Oasis leader Noel Gallagher's comments criticizing Jay as headliner of the traditionally rock-based festival.

"That's my sense of humor," Jay told MTV Base. "I have a sense of humor like a Brit, so I thought people would appreciate that. Noel Gallagher was one of the biggest detractors, so I figured that was a cool way to start the show."

A few weeks back, Gallagher had scoffed at the announcement of Jay's headlining slot.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it," the Oasis guitarist told the BBC. "I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music. I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

"It didn't make me angry because I don't know him," Jay told MTV Base. "What people say about you is none of your business." Jay also said he plays "Wonderwall" a lot at his 40/40 Club on Friday nights, and it always goes over well with the crowd — that's how he knew the words so well.

However, when it came to fellow Glastonbury performer Amy Winehouse's dis of Jay's friend Kanye West, the Jiggaman quipped he wanted to make peace.

"She said something about Kanye late on [in her set] but I didn't hear it," he said. "I don't agree with it. He's my brother and the biggest artist on Roc-A-Fella right now. ... I guess I should hook them up, because he's a great guy, too. I don't know what the problem is. I don't know where that came from."

But even with the mild bit of controversy, nothing could overshadow Jay's night. The performance has been lauded by critics, and footage on the Internet shows that the fans were heavily into it as well.

"It went amazing," Jay beamed. "It was a historic night for Glastonbury and for myself. It's the first time a hip-hop act had headlined. It was one of those nervous moments right before I went on, and I haven't had that feeling in a long time. In front of [100,000] people, it was this great thing."

"Of course," he continued when asked if he would come back. "It was incredible. I'm glad it went that way, 'cause the world was watching. ... We get sounds from all over the world. It's the universal language. It's not about genres. It's about good music and bad music. There's sh-- rap music, sh-- rock and roll, bullsh-- country music and there's horrible jazz. There's brilliant jazz — Miles Davis! Brilliant rock — Coldplay. And there's brilliant rap — Jigga!"

  13. The actual uncensored version leaked, and it sounds MUCH better than this stream. I didnt even bother with the stream, and im glad waited.

Anyway, im listening to it now, and it sounds like classic Crue. I'm only up to song four, but im liking what im listening to. The band sounds extremely tight, cheesy lyrics aside.

I still love the song "Saints Of Los Angeles", it just kicks ass and is catchy as fuck. Reminds me of how I felt when Primal Scream came out, I loved that song a lot as well.

This is definitely the best album they have put out since Dr. Feelgood (with the original lineup of course, because I LOVED the album they put out with Corabi)

  14. Nothing new really, but kinda interesting.

SEBASTIAN BACH Says He Has Spoken To SLASH About Collaborating On New Music - June 3, 2008

Sebastian Bach and his bandmates, guitarists "Metal" Mike Chlasciak and Johnny Chromatic, were at the offices of the Norwegian news web site Kjendis.no (a culture/entertainment sub-site of Dagbladet.no, Norway's second biggest newspaper) earlier today answering a number of questions submitted by the web site's readers. A couple of excerpts from the lengthy question-and-answer session follow.

Q: I've seen you wearing a SLAYER shirt, hanging with METALLICA and I understand you were pretty tight with the PANTERA guys. Have you ever considered doing anything more thrash metal-related?

Bach: I consider "Negative Light" off the new record my thrashiest song to date, written with Metal Mike and Steve DiGiorgio. I am writting songs with Jamey Jasta from HATEBREED, so look out for even heavier music in the future.

Q: Did the incident in Springfield December 1989 affect you as a person? Would you do the same thing today with jumping into the crowd and beat the shit out of a person who throws something at you?

Bach: Yes, it affected me as a person. I would never do something like that again. I would just leave the stage.

Q: What do you think of the current incarnation of SKID ROW, and specifically your replacement, Johnny Solinger? Do you keep in touch with any of your old mates in the band? With the current wave of metal reunions (PRIEST, MAIDEN, CRÜE, POISON etc) there must surely just be a matter of time before the original SKID ROW lineup goes back on tour — or what!? There's gotta be TONS of money to earn out there...

Bach: What do I think of the current incarnation of SKID ROW? I don't. Absolutely zero plans on reuniting. I think if you listen to "Angel Down" [bach's new solo album] and their current music, you will realize that we have grown in different directions musically. I do not make music for money.

Q: Can you still get into the leather pants? I've broadened out quite a bit myself since them heydays, so believe me I'll understand if you can't.

I've been wondering this for a few years: your father's painting on the "Slave to the Grind" cover has been a favorite of mine for many years, I remember being quite struck by it when I first procured the tape back in '91 at the tender age of nine or ten. Do you have any idea if it is possible to pick up a print of that painting anywhere? I remember seeing a gigantic version on your living room wall (or some such) in some MTV interview years ago, though I'm imagining that would've probably been the original.

Bach: Yes [i can still get into the leather pants], every night. But, I have to go running like a crazy man for at least two months before I try to put them on. But running and exercise and drinking tons of water really seems to work. Beer doesn't!!! Damn!

I am very glad you love the "Slave" cover — yes, the original hangs on my wall. We have talked about releasing high-quality lithographs of the piece with my dad's estate. Hopefully this will happen in the future.

Q: How was it touring with PANTERA in the '90s?? were they as crazy as they seemed to be?

Bach: We brought PANTERA on tour in American arenas when they had "Cowboys From Hell" out. They released "Vulgar Display Of Power" in the middle of our tour — it was incredible to watch them explode before our very eyes. The toughest act to follow — ever!

Q: Do you think Axl could be so stubbern that he won't release "Chinese Democracy" just because his is Axl? And since you probably have heard some/most of the new stuff, could it be compaired to "Use Your Illusion" in specter of diverse type songs?? And what is your favorite GN'R song of all time?

Bach: I don't think Axl is the person that is holding up the release... The music has been done for a long time and it's incredible, epic. He has over four albums of material finished... It's in the hands of the businessmen now. Favorite GN'R song of all time... Maybe "Civil War", "Rocket Queen", "My Michelle".

Q: I wanna get a straight answer directly from you about the whole thing with VELVET REVOLVER and you..I am tired of all the internet rumors about the whole thing. Have they contacted you lately?

Bach: I have talked to Slash recently about collaborating on music, but not VELVET REVOLVER. I cannot say what the details are, but Axl Rose has helped me and this band more then anyone eklse in the music industry. It would be very akward to sing in VELVET REVOLVER being such close friends with Axl. More importantly, I like "Angel Down" more than VELVET REVOLVER music.

Read the entire question-and-answer session at Kjendis.no (scroll down).

  15. The dude has bills to pay and he's keeping his name out there. He doesn't have a glorious legacy to protect anyway, so I think it's okay for someone in his position to show up on Gilmore Girls and reality shows, providing me with some quality laughs along the way. When it comes down to it, he's a great singer with a massive and diverse body of work. Through it all, though, his genuine passion for music can't be denied and I don't think anyone can really accuse him of selling out. The man lives and breathes rock n' metal. It's embedded into his personality.

    Great post, I agree 100%

Baz just enjoys life and I dont think he gives two shits what people think about him. More people should be this way, would be less complaining and more getting off your ass and enjoying life.

  16. That link I posted at the top was my rip from the one someone posted on youtube.

The link still works for me, try it again, sometimes sendspace fucks up, it should still be a live link, it is for me.

If it doesnt work let me know and I will upload it to megaupload or something.
