on topic, looks like yet another killer show
Exactly. When you go see a stage show like We Will Rock You or Wicked or some shit, it doesn't change at all, and it's no different when a huge band puts a show on. They're aiming to give you the best show on the night and they don't anticipate people watching multiple dates via their computer. It's fun when changes occur, but to expect them is naive, and to moan about them a bit dull. I complained earlier in the tour about The Seeker and the number of covers played but it looks like they're here to stay. There's no point complaining over and over about it, that's what kids do. Adults either learn to deal with it or move on so they don't have to.
As for the people who get upset when Axl wears a jacket or not.... consider buying a Barbie doll and dress it up how you like if you need an outlet where you have that much control over things. Can only imagine the complaining on here if we were in 1991 and Axl had bike shorts on again. Like it or not, they became HIS look and you've got to let an artist define their own image.

I doubt it. Seems like they're on a time crunch.
Also, those rumors are just going back to Axls appearance in Atlanta from back in March. New music was the rumor for the guardians of galaxy soundtrack, then the acdc thing leaked and we found out Axl was in Atlanta for ACDC. So...
You're probably right. Got a bit of a time machine with a private jet though and they could fly into the next show an hour before showtime for all we know. But all just guesses based on wishing and dreaming from a weak rumour so yeah, not much to get excited about here it seems
-
Song for Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Total guess though based on previous speculation of others. Might not even be them in the studio anyway, though dates seem coincidental and if a song is written already recording at least some of it in a day wouldn't be too difficult

Someone in another gnr forum said he has inside info from a studio in Atlanta that it's been booked by a big band for 2 days. That's it.
Yeah that's the one

Any truth to the rumours of the band having studio time in Atlanta while they're there

I hope they don't overthink it

Seriously? He's just basically changed everything about his band in the space of a year, then took on a second band where he's playing a whole bunch of new songs. It's going great. I think he knows it too. I think we're in for more change as well because these changes have been going so well for him!

will the classic 5 perform? lolz why should I ask when we all know the answer
Don't think so. Once they do that it's going to be hard to revert back to Richard and Frank from a fan perspective, even if it is only a song or two, because the media would jump on it and it'd take on a life of its own. I personally think if we're getting Steven and Izzy together it'll occur between tour legs and they'll rehearse and be back permanently. Not sure if I'd bet cash on it ever happening though, but then a year ago what's happening now didn't seem possible. I hope I'm wrong though and we get them tonight! Pretty sure Steven only got two nights though to really hammer home the point that he was visiting, before the crowd got too used to it.

Gilby was in guns but to me was never a gunner.only recorded covers with em.was there for maybe 3yrs tops.Fortus is just as rock n roll as Gilby any day of the week.if not more so.to me the 2nd guitar slot is a closed deal. The drummer debate is valid for sure without a doubt.sorum is not as clean as a whistle.could be why he is not there.i dont think steve is strong enough to do this for 2.5 hrs.who knows.frank is doing the job in the meantime
Hmm idno, Gilby had that old school classic rock vibe but Richard is a bit more modern rock. Technically Fortus gives Slash a run for his money so I'm not questioning his skills. I guess it's just whether you like the band to lean more towards a classic rock direction or a modern rock direction. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese Democracy, but I can see how Fortus fits into that modern sound better. I think the band live with Gilby sounded more like the album than the live band now does, maybe a number of reasons for that though, and probably more to do with Frank than Richard. I'd pick Izzy over either anyway because technical ability isn't all that counts he just had a vibe that really made the band Guns N' Roses

That's basically the lineup we have now but with two better musicians in Fortus and Frank than Sorum and Gilby.
No way is Frank better than Matt, not in a billion years, certainly not for the job he's been hired. And Fortus may be a technically better guitarist than Gilby, but Gilby was much more similar to Izzy, which lets be honest, that's who they're there to emulate. I'm not complaining by the way. I saw the band at both Vegas shows and they were great. I just don't think you're giving Gilby and Matt the credit that they're due

The album sold 3 million copies in a time when everyone was already downloading everything and album sales dropped drastically. There are loads of people who are fans of that particular album. Just to clarify: I'm definitely not one of them.
So did Contraband actually sell more copies than Chinese Democracy?
-
I think it was an unnecessary album and an example of the excess and bloat that ripped the band apart - a bad idea that grew out of control because nobody knew how to say no to the band. Best case scenario the band should have chosen the three strongest tracks and recorded them for bonus tracks on singles

Something is probably gonna happen. It's too big of a show for something to not happen. Slash's birthday too
Although it seems we get unexpected things on the smaller (second night) shows!

Most arenas are like 12,000 to 15,000 on average

Yeah in Chicago, the United Center is 20,000 capacity....so basically night one alone they did three times that. Anyone saying this tour isn't going to be one of the top U.S $$$ grossers of the year or isn't doing well is really off-base. I mean I know math is hard but come on...
Exactly. And though second night shows may not be as full, they don't require additional transport or setup so it's money in the bank. Duff knows his stuff. If the band were losing money on the second night they would cancel. They're not losing money...

Nothing wrong with 25,000. That's two full arenas

The Seeker sounds great, but GNR has so much of there own material I want them to play. Swap it out
So true!
Seems a shame to do so many covers. Even just replacing The Seeker with Yesterdays would make so many people go crazy for it!
