  1. Mitch Lafon tweeted that he predicts Dave Kushner will be involved. And Dave tweeted some mysterious shit last days. Dave has nothing to do with GNR, I really like the guy though. But I just think that if Axl wanted so bad to have a 3rd guitarist, why not Gilby ?

    VR without a vocalist

    GNR without 2 guitarrists

    "Hybrid line up"

Dave Kushner rumor about him being onboard

Could them just mix it up and put a 2h30 show with axl singing some VR tunes, Slash/Duff playing some CD songs, AFD with Steven, UYI songs with Sorum. A big party, like King Of Chaos?

if matt and kushner are on board it's more a vr reunion...that would be the funniest thing ever...imagine axl telling kimmel that he will join velvet revolver for a reunion tour...

gnr with matt, kushner, slash and duff is nearly impossible cause he has no supporters in conflict situations in that squad...it would be team brazil vs. velvet revolver.

He's got mother goose, and his vote trumps all.

  2. I wonder how much Bumblefoot was to thank for the reunion? If he had decided to stay, would Axl have tried to find a way to make it work with him and Ashba? There really were no signs of Axl ever reconciling with Slash before that. I wonder if after that and coming to terms with the fact that Ashba did not have the chops for GNR that Axl considered retiring before he thought about the reunion, hence the rumours?

Interesting thought. I think Bumblefoot was integral to the reunion more because of the fact that he put the finishing touches on Chinese Democracy. Would it have ever been released without him? Who knows? I tend to think his contributions to the band and rapport with the fans might have been the final push to get the record out for Axl. People bash the record (and I can see why, although I like it), but keep in mind that album was a 14 year saga/opus, which was literally rock n roll legend prior to release. I can't see Axl progressing as an artist or even getting to a place in his life that he felt comfortable enough to consider a reunion without him getting Chinese Democracy off his chest.

  3. Spin's article with the mention of GN'R at the bottom as a throwaway line shows they are still butt-sore from "Get In the Ring" all these years later, which is hilarious.

  4. Assuming a reunion (even with a hybrid lineup), I wonder if they would sprinkle in some stuff from CD into their set? Obviously Duff knows and has played those songs, but could be interesting to hear Slash's take on the solo for This I Love or some other tracks. If Axl could get Slash to play the CD tracks, it would almost legitimize CD in a way, as well as being the ultimate irony (imagine Slash playing on 'Sorry'). That being said, I'd prefer that the lineup play the old stuff and perhaps new material (which I highly doubt will ever be released) because I never had the chance to see the original lineup perform together.

  5. Haven't posted in a long time, but have been checking the board every day for news for a possible reunion. Anyway, wanted to point out that one thing that is certain (if a reunion is in the works) is that there are mountains of legal issues to sort through. Axl owns the rights to the name, but if original members come back into the fold, will they want to get a cut of the name? Would Axl "let them back in"? I seriously doubt any original member would sign the type of independent contractor agreements that the new guys were made to sign. There could be long, painstaking negotiations taking place as we speak, which could completely undermine the entire reunion. Axl and Slash have sued each other before. In any event, during negotiations there would be extremely prohibitive confidentiality agreements in place, so that could be why we're not hearing a single word. Any breach of confidentiality during a time of (potentially fragile) negotiations could wreck the entire thing.

  6. I'm going to one show (6/7)... my boys and I go to vegas every year (11 years running) and this year it coincides with the residency.

People need to get over this "Vegas Residency = doomsday for the band" scenario. One day ("soon" or otherwise), we will hear new music from Axl. Why does everyone care what the media thinks of the band nowadays? To me, music is personal and I could give a crap what people on Metal Sludge think. It wasn't that long ago, before ChiDem, was released ('03 - '06), that most of us were hoping for any word that the band was even active. I'm just glad we have an active (albeit touring) band. When Gn'R tours, we get to hear comments from the band, stories of Axl biting security guards and crazy stories about strip club incidents - I love it!

I wanna hear new music (and the unreleased ChiDem stuff) just as much as everyone else, but for everyone bashing these shows, I can tell you that it's going to be a blast... Nothing like drinking a few whiskeys, shooting some dice, hanging out with some cool people and then going to listen to some of your favorite music live. I can think of a lot worse ways to spend a Saturday night.

hey fellow gunners - long time member, but rarely post... I, for one, am excited about the Vegas shows... Hard Rock is an awesome spot and Vegas is a great town to party in, so it passes the test of "If I have to travel to a show, will I still have fun in this city if the show gets cancelled for some reason?"

Anyway, can any nightrain member tell me what the ticket price is for GA floor (standing room, not reserved)?

    Thanks in advance.

    $95.63 USD

    Thank you!!!

  9. People dissing this have no idea what they are talking about for 2 reasons:

    1. Gn'R frequently records in Vegas, so this is most likely an indication that the band will be booking studio sessions in Vegas together... lots of bands do something like this while they're recording - plus it's nice to make some coin to pay for studio time.

    2. Hard Rock is an awesome, awesome spot and The Joint is a sweet venue... those who think it's some sleazy casino, have no clue.

  10. Usually whoever inducts a band or artists, says how they were influenced by the band. I hightly doubt GD were influenced by GNR. What are they going to say? How GNR changed the face of 80's rock? Yeah, very true also changed the look of rock bands too. The only other bands I can think of before them who were the bad boys of rock were The Rollings Stones. They lived the rock style to the hilt and their rock music was very different from the other UK pop back in the 60's. GNR were the same way. Their look and music style was very different and much more intense. The 80's needed to be shaken up.

I think another rock band or musician should have been the one to do the honor. Either Steven Tyler or even M.Shadows from A7X.

This is going to be interesting, but not in a good way.

I think Green Day is an ok choice, but agree that it does seem a little random. One thing I think Green Day will be able to talk about is the fact the many people consider Appetite as one of the first records that really fused punk rock into metal into rock n' roll. If you then consider that punk went mainstream in the mid 90s (and Green Day was the at the forefront of this), then you can consider Gn'R as really paving the way for that evolution in rock. No matter whether you like Green Day or not, it's impossible not to recognize that they have been relevant for 15+ years if you go from Dookie all the way through American Idiot (which was the most successfull rock opera since Tommy), so if you're looking at younger bands that are a lock for the RRHOF, Green Day is probably a solid choice.

  11. I'd say it's walkable, but not a short one. It'll take you between 15min and half an hour to get there, but probably quick enough that it isn't worth the cab fare. Night time is probably a different story, and then I'd suggest a cab. But afternoon, heading over to line up, definitely walkable.

    Too dangerous at night?

Hey, I lived in Philly for the last 5 years on Spring Garden and 20th and can absolutely confirm that while it's not a terrible area, it's definitely not good either. Unless you are with a crew, I wouldn't walk it alone. Take the train to market street east and snag a cab for the extra $10. I almost got mugged around there two years ago at night when I was by myself coming back from a bar.

  12. just got my Ritz Silver......so let me get this straight we had to pay shipping eventhough they are at will call?

I think it says your lithiograph will be mailed to you, which is actually kind of good so that you don't have to carry it around all night.

  13. Long time forum member, but rare poster, here. Got my tickets to the Gold VIP "Ritz" show. Should be sick!

I think it's great they are playing clubs. When they played the shows in the Northeast in November they hadn't started playing Civil War yet, so hopefully they'll play that at these shows. That will make it worth it, alone!

Also, I don't think the early entry is that beneficial for the Gold VIP because on their facebook, I noticed Gn'R posted the start times for these shows was at 12am (which is about when they came out during the Hammerstein shows), and I won't be able to wait on the rail for 3.5 hours.

Anyway, here's to 2012, year of the Red Panda!

  14. It's funny. I was at the Camden show talking to some dudes in the beer line who told me the only reason they were there was because they saw the Eddie Trunk interview on TMS. They thought the band sounded awesome and they were so amped to be there, but they had no clue the band was even touring before they saw that. It shows that the casual fan really doesn't know about the new band and that a little bit of promotion (and not media whoring) could go a long way.

  15. Holy shat, was Axl really that mickey-mouse-y back in 2002?! I truly forgot. Christ.

i wonder what is the reason of his mickey-mouse voice in 02-06?

now his voice is just godlike!

Sprite's right...it's the smoking. He was healthier back then.

Cool interview by Adler - sounds like he's finally learned to let go. Hopefully he can keep his shit together.

  16. oh, forgot one thing:

"We wanna dedicate this song to the people that hold you back,

the people that tell you how to live, people that tell you HOW TO DRESS,

people that tell you how to talk, people that tell you WHAT YOU SAY AND WHAT YOU CAN'T SAY (HTGH shoutout),

    I PERSONALLY DON'T NEED THAT!

I DON'T NEED THAT SHIT IN MY LIFE!

Those are the kind of people that get me down, that make me feel like somebody, somebody out there... is OUT TA GET ME!"
