True, though credit to metallica as they are interested in still doing albums because I've read in an interview they enjoy making music in the studio and still enjoy the creative process. So its not about the money for these guys. I hope guns can have that same mindset. Mind you i put guns on a higher stand than bon jovi, his voice is done.

Jon Bon Jovi sounds a hundred times better live than Axl. This is my wife's favorite band, I go to his concerts. You are dead wrong.

It isn't about couple songs he may or may not play.  Until last night I looked at the setlist and could have cared less about the majority of it.  SMKC has some good songs and a lot of not so good songs.. I have seen SMKC like 5 or 6 times and it was always a blast. Aside from Anastasia, the highlights for me were always the Guns and VR songs and the better SMKC complimented all that stuff nicely.  Take out the Guns and VR and I am all set though.  Like I said I have seen Slash 20 times and I go to a shitload of other live shows.  Just being in a building with Slash doesn't make it a good experience if the music is no good.

Now I can see Slash play songs like It's So Easy, Civil War, Estranged, Out Ta Get Me and Nightrain with Guns so that may be part of it too.. Much more desirable that seeing Halo, Avalon or anything off Living The Dream.

I did like the inclusion of Fall To Pieces and We're All Gonna Die last night plus they dropped a few songs from LTD. Overall, the setlist looked better.. I will be watching the next few days and I can always get tix again last minute if I want to. I just might have to pay a little more.. or even less.

Just letting you know I wasnt trying to be a wise ass. Just making a comment. Its weird how music can differ from everyone so much. LTD is my favorite Slash & Myles Kennedy album as a whole so far.

Hahaha. All good. I have seen Slash 20 times. Still love him and his playing, just don't like this one album and that is mostly due to Myles.  Tony Iommi and Slash are still me favorite all time guitarists.

And I wouldn't leave a girlfriend for not cooking a favorite breakfast but if she cooked something that taste like shit, I wouldn't eat it! That is a better analogy here ;)

Too be honest, I feel like he gets it. Last show he threw in a VR song and cut back on songs from Living The Dream.  Almost has me looking at re-purchasing tix if I can get a deal hahah.

Your going for the whole experience arent you? Not just because of a couple of songs he may or may not play.

Isn’t the OP referencing a quote from Axl Rose where he said he wanted to “bury” Appetite? And then later said he never wanted to be an artist that didn’t create new music and instead just lived off their old material.

Your point is true. No doubt.

But shouldn’t fans be able to comment on things that Axl Rose has actually said?

The post doesn't say it has been edited, but when I just went back to read it just now it seems that it has been changed up a little. If I am wrong about it being reworded and changed I apologize. Not for my post you quoted but being wrong about it being changed.

Dust N' Bones, 14 Years, Double Talkin' Jive, I think he was the head writer for Bad Obsession as well (love the honky tonk sound on that, I want more GN'R songs like that).  Pretty Tied Up isn't one I care much for (it has some iconic Guns lines in it, I acknowledge) but I know that's another one he wrote that seems to be pretty popular when it comes to deep cuts

His whole solo career is a deep cut.

As far as lyrics go, CD is not bad. It is naturally much more mature than AFD. For good and worse. I mean, AFD is a time capsule back to the 80s and back to my childhood. It works. And CD touches on some heavy, nice themes. It is not all good, of course, at times cringy and self-indulgent and whining, but there are some really nice things there too. Not always particular sentences, but more the overall sentiments expressed in the songs. You kind of are left with certain emotions that are way deeper than the rawk of AFD and abrasiveness of UYIs. And it is not always easily accessible, but hidden in axspeak and lyrics that twist and turn. I don't think it is any worse than most records these days. In fact, compared to a lot of popular music it is a lot more weightier, profound and deep. At times it is a bit too retrospective and focused on whatever trials that faced Axl back in the late 90s, but there is also some positive and uplifting parts, and songs that aren't so self-obsessed. I would love to hear more of his lyrics from that period.

One of my favorite lyrics on CD is in Street of Dreams. Everywhere I go I see you. If anyone ever has had a lost love everywhere you go there seems to be something that reminds you of them. Deep lyrics for old people or young ones.

What they (Axl) didn't realize at the time he made that statement was that that was GN'R most culturally significant moment. They were right there in the zeitgeist, they were the cutting edge and that moment was only going to be a moment.

AFD was an atomic bomb that exploded on America and it was exactly the right time for it to go off. You can have the greatest album ever but if the time isn't right for it to be received, it will never reach that level of adoration.

Axl thought that moment was going to be perpetual for Guns, that they could just keep going with the same momentum, but you can't control time and time wore the band out.

I dont think time wore the band out. One gigantic jackass wore it out.

I love the album. I just feel its still dominating Guns N' Roses, its got a high percentage of all songs being performed live at every gig, the latest release by the band is centered around it.

They really don't have much to pick from when doing close to 3 hour shows. Its their defining album. It made them. All the legit members were involved in it. Its most people's favorite. I can understand if you're tired of it though.
