More than anything I want the whole El Rey show EP.
-
I just want to hear the Corey Taylor album, but I do worry it was a collection of, as Scott Weiland described the initial VR demos sent to him, Bad Company gone wrong tracks with a Corey vocal because he wouldn’t ever given the pushback Scott would.

Still looking to complete some stuff, most of it is finished. Almost all information comes from this.
This is *exactly* what I was looking for. Now to secretly fill in the blanks in my collection.
-
I’m sure this has been covered, but how much did Izzy actually play on UYI? Outside of the “Izzy” songs and songs written around appetite, I hear Slash alone mostly.
-
I have been searching and have been unable to find what I'm looking for, which is essentially an organized page detailing which versions of Chinese Democracy Era songs are floating around.
Ex.
I.R.S.
-'99
-Trunk
-'02
-MSL
-Antiquiet
Something like that, showing each version of the songs and where/when they are from. Anyone know of anything like this?

Why in the world did you highlight this part and not his comments on the reunion?

7 hours ago, lame ass security said:I never really understood the dynamics with Buckethead in the band. How did they communicate with him? Was he that persona all the time? With the mask and well, the bucket on his head. Don't get me wrong, I think the character of Buckethead is cool and pretty ingenious really. He can go anywhere and be anonymous, doesn't get hassled. But I assume there is a separation between Buckethead and Brian Carroll.
I know this is very “I know a guy who knows a guy” but my buddy runs sound at a venue bucket played in the past couple years and he got to talk with Bucket’s tour manager. Bucket really liked Axl but hated being in Guns N Roses because he can’t stand drinking or drugs. He’s never touched the stuff. Essentially up until 2009 Axl had been calling him and offering ungodly amounts of money (evidently Ozzy does, too).
Bucket also stays in cities minimum 30 minutes away from where he is playing that night so he isn’t recognized. All Bucket wants is to play guitar and be left alone. His tour manager has to take him to the store just to make sure he gets some social interaction, otherwise he wouldn’t at all. But by all accounts he is a super sweet and gentle guy. He gave my buddy a toy, he assumed it was bucket’s way of saying he liked the sound.
Of course, take this all with a grain of salt. The tour manager has no interest other than making his artist look good, and I’m sharing this through another person, but it seems to track with other things we’ve heard.

Fuck I’d have fired Goldstein, too.

What I remember from this time was everyone complaining at the time about how bad axl sounded!
-
Axl could still play arenas in South America, Asia, and Europe, snag some Festival headlining spots in Europe, and play big clubs/small arenas at best in the US. It could go on as a lesser version of the post-cd pre-reunion guns.
But really, that path could begin even with Slash if they don't take advantage of this teeny tiny window to put out a record with a smash rock radio hit to give them a Black Ice or Death Magnetic push into their golden years. They already missed their chance to be the Rolling Stones, but they could whip this into being AC/DC, successfully touring stadiums/arenas until they decide they're done.
-
I feel like the hate Riad gets is undue. The “salvation” part is as big and catchy as anything Axl has ever written. The other parts I can see being iffy on, but it is the biggest remnant of that super weird 99-02 band/sound.
It doesn’t meet my standard of “if I want to show someone CD isn’t so bad, would I play this song?” but really only 3 songs do. This record just isn’t for everyone. I enjoy it, I’m the only person I know who does, and I’m fine with it.

It seems the truth is that we never actually heard Chinese Democracy.

Thing is, I do think Guns is playing with house money as far as a new album. It doesn’t even have to be great, just fundamentally not an embarrassment. The media and fans have come around on them, they’ve built up a good deal of good will.

It's definitely one of those releases I never remember liking as much as I do when I put it on, but then I never return to it. It is their best sounding release, and makes me bummed out considering that the hard tracks on UYI could have sounded that way or wondering what a mid 90's gnr album would have been with more modern production.

Yeah, he only looked exceptionally weird in the 2001-2002 range. He more or less looked normal from '06 on, dreads and bad facial hair notwithstanding.

They're a fun band. I believe they even went to the Troubador show in Pigeons of Shit Metal shirts. They cover will probably be good, fun. I look forward to it if it ever makes its way to a digital release.

Kinda true though tbf
True, I mean grab the average person you see in a guns shirt and ask their feelings on Brian Eno.

It’s the closest approximation of what Axl would sound like on pure Slash solo music.

It is one of the songs most neutered by the production. I still enjoy it, but the thin guitars, weird effects, and this might just be a me thing but Matt Sorum's decision to hit a tom instead of the snare during the verses drives me crazy. The production murdered most of UYI.

Yeah I mean he made a commitment to be at those open mic nights, how else could they justify those $10 covers?

even Stephanie Seymour (didn't Axl say that she would put down his songwriting?).
IDK if my spouse handed me a piece of paper with the lyrics for Shotgun Blues on it, I would have a hard time finding something nice to say. "You nailed the spelling!"

I figured Chinese Democracy was his favorite song. Musically it is similar to about five Velvet Revolver songs.

It is upper echelon for Axl lyrically.
