  1. gnr has the greatest opening song any band could ever hope for. but they've been choosing to kick their sets off with a hugely unpopular single from their most unpopular album. i think it's ballsy as hell in a way. but also lame in another way. do you think kicking his shows off with a turdy song fans aren't really into is just his way of saying 'fuck you' to those same fans who would rather he play popular songs / reunite / lose weight / rehearse? it's like he's raising a middle finger to the world every time they launch into that song.

    "it don't really matter!"

I'm glad I'm a slow enough typer that I am forced to think about what I am actually saying before I submit it. I think a lot of random instant thoughts get posted here.

Anyways, The hair stood up on the back of my neck when they opened with this, so no. Maybe it's a proper "Fuck you!" to the TWATs n cunts that wont let it the fuck go that there was an album after UYI, Slash is not in the fucking band anymore and their wont be a goddam motherfucking reunion. I stand beside Axl in this regard, and add a STFU in for good measure.

certainly axl knows everyone there would rather hear welcome to the jungle, or pretty much any song from the hall of fame line-up. also, the song chinese democracy was such a resounding flop, notwithstanding the monumental hype. it just seems to anti-climatic to kick things off with a song so few people really like. i can understand burying the less popular new stuff somewhere else in the set -- like, say, between the instrumental version of the pink panther and dizzy reed's nightly wank-a-thon. but to kick things off with such a turd? i get it as an act of defiance. and i get it as a selfish way to hear some applause while playing one of the less popular new songs. i just think it's kind of a shame, considering how much better and more beloved and appropriate jungle is to start things off.

i thought we were finally done with the chinese democracy tour anyways. maybe it's time to finally let some of these unpopular songs die their well-earned death.

News flash: You don't like the fucking band anymore. Move on and stop bitching about a band you don't even like. Do you understand how sad your post is? "Wahhh Why can't it be 1987?!? Wahhh." Does this shit happen on like Beatles web sites? "Paul should open with I wanna hold your hand because that's the song I like and the world revolves around me. Wahhh I pooped myself a little how has no one attended to my need yet?!"

I gotta say the people in Philly seemed pretty fucking happy with the opening. I guess they were nobody, because "everybody" wanted WTTJ instead. Your name fits. Ass hat.

  2. 100% spot on. With Mr. T calling him out at every press conference and his rivalry with the towering russian who beat Izzy to death as Axl prepared to throw in the towel but never did because in between rounds Izzy told him "Don't you dare stop this fight!" The conncetion is blatant!

Excellent post, good thought. As always your posts are as on target as anyone who posts here.

    Really good job.

I can't get over how I didn't see this before, but now it's so clear. Amazing point. I'm linking this now all over the web, I'm going to see if I can get a link posted on the main search page for Google.

  3. I know some of the songs are from the 90's, but as far as songs written after that and selecting what songs go on the album, and even the order, does Chinese Democracy decribe 9/11?

Chinese Democracy: About how we brag about how great of a nation we (the US) are and how other countries are wrong.

Shackler's Revenge: The attack, and noone understanding how someone could be so cruel and heartless.

Better: About how after 9/11 we grew closer as a nation and joined forces to fight back.

Street of Dreams: People of New York beginning to recover from the attacks and the survivers being happy they're alive.

If the World: People realizing that more attacks could happen, what if they are killed by one?

There Was a Time: People thinking about how it was before the attacks, and also about people getting into affairs/drug addiction from stress caused by the attacks.

Catcher in the Rye: people getting depressed and thinking about how the terrorists were able to pull off the whole plot.

Scraped: The US government saying that this attack isn't going to destroy us.

Riad N' The Bedouins: The US mocking middle eastern countries.

Sorry: People looking at the conspiracys and wondering if any are true. Also people feeling sorry for the people in middle eastern countries who are being uprooted because of the US invasion.

IRS: People thinking of suing the government/airports because terrorists were able to get through security.

Madagascar: Famillies of the victims begging to move on and also wondering why everyone can't get along.

This I love: A person who was angry at a familly member when they left for work on a normal day and never returned due to the attack.

Prostitute: Moving on, wishing they could've done something and realizing that they can't turn back time.

You should go to a web site www.abovetopsecret.com there are plenty of like minded people who see 911 everywhere. Infact, little known fact, Michael Jackson totally gave it away on the cover of his album Blood on the Dance floor. Forget the fact that it came out in like 97 or something, he totally was in on that shit. Clearly, your flawless logic has shown me Axl was too, writing songs about 9/11 in the 90's! That son of a bitch!

Go there, and post. You will be welcome.

    Seriously, please go... now.

  4. I can't believe this is even being discussed. Its not a competition

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Not only is Axl's voice aggravating at times, his songwriting skills DO NOT COMPARE to Izzy's AT ALL. November Rain? Cheesy as fuck. Shotgun Blues? Bitch Please? All of Chinese Democracy? Total shit. If you want a REAL songwriter, check Mr. Brownstone, 14 Years, and Double Talkin' Jive. That's fucking rock n' roll ladies and gents, not pretentious wannabe garbage.

Izzy has like 17 albums since leaving GnR. Name a killer track from him or his precious fucking Ju Ju hounds not named "Shuffle it all"

They work well together. I don't see any Mr. Brownstones coming from Izzy these days and they wouldn't be good without Axl Fronting them.

Having said that, I love Izzy and Shuffle is one of my favorite songs ever... so fuck you for making me feel conflicted.

Here is a better question, who was more retarded, pre-sober Duff or post stroke Adler?

  5. Got so excited when I saw the pinned post that said "Leaks" as in plural.

This sounds like a theme from a show, it doesn't sound like a real song. Way more excited to hear Checkmate.

    BITW sounds legit

    I think it's real.

It just sounds off, like it's not supposed to be a whole song. It's hard for me to put into words prezactly.

  6. So what? I have to work too...

    +1

Yeah really. I can't take 2-3 weeks off of work, fuck years.

Of course, my job isn't as hard as his, I don't have to have to deal with strange pu$$y begging for me every night, or 10,000 + people worshiping me.

I can't imagine having to play an instrument for 2 hours 3 nights out of the week, then going backstage to eat sushi off some perfect 10's tits.

Jesus Christ people, help these boys out. Who had good organizational skills? Can we get a Kickstart program for these guys or what?

  7. for me there's just a lack of songs, there awesome guitar parts and solos but it's hard to really find a song. But the looseness Slash has on it is great. There's no big deep meanings it just a bunch of riffs and solos. In some ways when Myles tries to sing about something it sounds worse cos the music is so don't give a shit. it should be all songs about drinking and strippers.

It's a good point, I like the album, but there isn't a track I like to skip to or for that matter skip over. It's just solid.

I feel out of touch because I really like Standing in the Sun and not one person mentioned it! Maybe it's because I dated a girl for almost four years that that song could have been written for. *Shrugs*

I was dissapointed by the lack of ballads... "I was all like, oh here we go!!!" when Anastasia started and then all of a sudden it was a rocking.

One Last Thrill = VR v2.0?

    Anyone?

  8. I havent seen it on torrents yet, but I feel like it should be out. I wish it was coming out a week earlier, I might die from awesomness listening to it as I played Diablo III

  9. So many great songs from these guys. Sad to hear, one of my first ever favoritebands. I remember as a kid staying up late with my walkman under the covers listening to "The top five at 10" on a 97.5 WPST, for something like four straight months 4 of the 5 songs were Beasties and Bon Jovi. Miss those days.

    RIP MCA.

  10. Sorry, for some reason my account was suspended and I couldn't log onto this site for the last week. I heard a rumor that Axl might be on Howard last Tuesday calling in. Did that happen and was he on at any time this week?

A long time ago (years) Axl called into Howard with Sebastian Bach, nothing recent though.

PS. Consider that account suspension a warning, next time it wont be temporary!

  11. DJ is awesome, f the haters.

Can't people have opinions? And did any one of us say f- the lovers towards fans of Ashba? Ashba fans are so quick to blast those of us supporting Robin yet you don't see any of us being rude to Ashba 'lovers'.

Jokes on him bro, he actually likes DJ Ashba.

Robin isn't in the band anymore, if you want to argure for past members, make it Slash.

PS, I said f the haters, so if you aren't a hater, I wasn't saying F you to you. Got it?

But if you are a hater, then def, F U.

  12. Massive Tori fan.

Most of her unreleased material, b-sides, demos and rare tracks were released on this boxset:

    41i2Bugb7RL._SS400_.jpg

There's still some unreleased tracks not on this collection. Tori has a huge body of work and tracking down all her work is quite a task. Welcome To Sunny Florida is a must for any fan, a brilliant live DVD with the band, and a bonus disc of outtakes. Legs & Boots is a iTunes only release of 30 live shows from 2007.

I can't read the title of this box set. I can Read Tori Amos and can't make out the last word. :( What is it called? Is it "A Piano the collection?" and really stupid follow up question, but is it all piano? or is the band involved?

    A Piano The Collection.

It's not just the piano, it has the band on it too. It has tonnes of b-sides, outtakes, live recordings and alternative versions. It really is a must for any serious Tori fan.

Thanks a lot guys. Big help. Tori is def not my territory.

  14. Hey fellow Gun’s Fans, I need some help here. In hopes that someone out there is a Tori Amos Fan, or is dating one a Tori Amos fan. My sister has asked me for basically anything Tori Amos related that was not released. Concerts, Bootlegs etc. Is there a place like our download section that you are aware of that I can grab this kind of thing? Her official forums don’t have anything like this, and I couldn’t find an underground equivalent.

Or, what would be just as good would be torrents you can recommend as good or let me know I should stay away from? Frankly that would be just as helpful. My sister is turning 30, so I’m looking to give her the hook up. I am NOT a Tori fan.

I know she has “Original Bootlegs” from 2005. And I have heard of “Legs and Boots” so that is on my list. Looking for other recommendations, thanks guys/gals in advance for any help you may provide!

She also stressed she wanted something with the whole band if possible (I guess there is stuff with just her on the piano?)
