  1. I remember when Metallica was inducted into the hall of fame and gnr was doing show and the question was asked to them if they would do a tour with gnr and James said they would have to open for them basically he suggested that there was no need for a dual headliner tour more less they way said it was like he was saying gnr was beneath them and at that time he was right but not now  I bet Axl hasn't forgotten that along with all the stuff James has mocked Axl about.

Hell I believe it was James that said he didn't understand the us concert market and they would not do a full tour in the us until something changed. I remember the death magnetic arena tour and the show I went to which was the first date on the us tour and it was far from being sold out lots of upper level seats empty and there where many cities they couldn't even sell out an arena yes some of the shows where near sell outs or sold out.

I like Metallica exspecially from the justice album back but after justice that they where just money hungry and by saying you are going to basically going leave out the us because you can't sell out every show is bs excuse for them being pissed they didn't make the max amounr of dollars to be had

That really changed my mind set toward them.

  2. I really believe the AC/DC thing was a big part of him turning things around not that he wasn't already in a better state I just think hanging around with the guys in AC/DC really rubbed off on him and they way they go about rehearsal, dealing with the fans and being respectful of the fans.

He even said himself that before AC/DC he never done rehearsals and sound checks before the shows and after doing it with them he now understands that it's a good thing that he has to do and I think he realized that it made everything right for the show that night, before he always had issues with the sound guy and now it seems that doesn't happen much if any at all, yeah I am sure they have to make minor adjustments but nothing like the problems he has had in the past when he didn't do sound checks.

If I remember right before he went on tour with AC/DC he wasn't at rehearsals for GNR, I think once the AC/DC trek was over he was in Detroit the next day which was several days before the show and I figure they where rehearsing and it seems that him slash and duff where very involved in what went into the production of the shows and what was used as far as graphics on the big screens, there was video of them together watching it.

With Axl's change in attitude of late and I am sure Slash and Duff had something to do with having Steven do a few songs on a couple of nights but I can't help but think they done this to see if Steven could stay sober and if he could they would replace frank with steven on down the line but I think the jury is still out on what is happening with steven behind the scenes. As for Izzy I think he is welcome to show up anytime he wants but in all honesty he hates touring and we will only see him a few times.

I think all these things including the reunion tour couldn't have happened if Axl didn't come around and start acting more reasonable as far as Slash and Duff I am sure they had to do the same for this tour to happen.

  3. The lower and mid bowl are 90%+ sold. There are around 100 $250 tickets left. they just put up for sale seats at the rear of the stadium that added a section plus a few other seats to each side that are considered obstructed view. They also added some $150(I think) seats about 6 seats wide on the edge of a section from the lower to upper bowl that are at the very side of the stage which are obstructed view. Upper bowl is 50%+ sold and the floor seating is 80% sold.

It has done much better that I thought it would.

someone last show asked when they were going to do every rose has its thorn

You would be surprised at how many people think this song is a gnr song. Hell just do a search on YouTube or Google for that song and with it gnr to the search  and you will see a large amount of people think its gnr and it sounds nothing like guns hell it's poison which to was nothing but a pretty boy band that sucked that is just my honest opinion a lot of people liked them

  5. Just checked and pit tickets on Slash's side are still up for sale through ticketmaster.

I wonder with there still being floor seating to be had if they are making the pit area larger? It would make sense because pit tickets are easier to sell than the seated floor that are half way back or more because alot of venues have releaseed more pit tickets within the past few days or so.

    Just a thought?

  6. I noticed on TM today that the singles seats that are left over in the $250 lower bowl price are going for $150 but if they have seats available next to each other they are still $250.

I bet this is just the start of price cutting for the Nashville show they still have a good amount of tickets left.

I did a rough estimate, and with the amount of tickets sold so far for this tour they would need to play about 70 dates if the venues were arenas. Stadiums seem to be the best option, given the demand.

I think if they done arena shows in the smaller markets and done the shows in the round instead of end stage I think you would see 2 nights selling out in the same city because it is a better experience for the fans. I the large markets I understand the stadiums but if they done 3 arena shows in the larger markets they would sell out also. Yes it is more work for the band but I think they would turn a better profit on ticket sales by charging more for at least the Upper level seats.

I will bet in the next week or 2 we will see more tickets released, promoters and ticketmaster aren't stupid they will in alot of cases hold tickets so when someone looks they think they better get what they can now given what tickets are left of those that have been released.

I seen when tickets went on sale to the general public after about 2 weeks the Nashville show showed most of the middle bowl is sold then on 2 different times so far it showed it will loads of tickets in the middle bowl and even more low bowl seats to be had only to look the next day both times that the lower had jsut mainly singles scattered out and the middle bowl probably 75% sold out.

Maybe it was a mistake by ticketmaster???? I sure hope so but time will tell.

  8. I  like many others think they just priced the tickets way too high.

I don't know who set these prices but they should have known better. The US concert market is still in a rut.

If was just the promoters setting the prices it's one thing but if GNR had a hand in it is another story and by that I mean GNR gets there concert fee plus a % of the ticket sales then that is just wrong IMHO. Alot of acts get the fee plus a % of the ticket sales. Sometimes it is set up to where the act will get a percentage after X amount of tickets are sold.

To me they most likely would do better in the US if they started touring in South America first then European tour then the US or flip flop the US and Europe.  Just to get the momentum up because the US is a much tougher market to sell thickets than the other 2. And GNR still has the stigma of coming on very late, ya most of us on the board no that the lateness is not much of an issue any more but outside the forums people don't know that and if your in a tough market you need to show BEFORE you go there than the show will start very close to the start time and there will be no issues like in the past.

I think they should have done one or two nights at an arena in the smaller markets and only do stadiums in the large markets, in an arena people will pay the ticket prices because even if they are in the upper seats they will have a good view of the video feed and still be able to see the band on stage pretty good unlike in a stadium where the band look like ants half way up. Stadium tours are to tough sell anyway because there are so many seat that are so far from the stage most people think it isn't worth it and they won't pay $150-250 for the better seats.

  9. I too think they over done it with a stadium tour but if they sell lets say 35,000-45,000 tickets per show then it would be cheaper financially for the band and promoters than doing two nights in an arena that seats 15,000 to 25,000 in the same city to sell the same amount of tickets. Yes it would be better for the fans but it all comes down to the almighty dollar.

  10. The energy from ISE makes it the perfect opener.

WTTJ should be used later on in the set for an instant energy boost to the fans.

The two times I seen them when they where the opening band they opened with ISE and the whole damn place went nuts!!!

When I seen them in the UYI tour both times it was Nightrain and to me that is a terrible opener but it's a great song just needs to be later in the show.

  11. I don't think  they will announce anything beyond the current shows they have confirmed.

I also think these shows are a dress rehearsal for the band and promoters all around the world to see how the band gets along and if there are any problems.

The last thing they want to do is announce a full tour and have it all fall apart in just six shows. That way they can always say that is all the shows we had planned to play together and no tour was every planned.

If all goes well with the 6 dates we have they will announce a South American tour and then go to Europe after that .

Timing for South America could be a 3 or more months out if they are really working on new songs or an album.

The US is the hardest market to tour in world and I really don't see them doing a US tour until mid spring or early summer next year if they can stay together and build hype because all the sell outs in South America and Europe.

  12. I have thought since the tweet about Taco Bell that Taco Bell maybe the sponsor for the tour, but it just maybe for the commercial.

I also thought the tweet would get people here in an uproar, which it did, saying basically  "Axl is going to be fat or is off his diet because he is eating Taco Bell"

So Axl gave us a very vague hint at something happening behind the scenes and also taking a jab at the forums and  getting them in a slight uproar at the sametime.

But the tweet was so random that if he tweets something similar we will not know what to make of it and if it does happen I hope he keeps taking jabs at the online forums, just shows he does know what goes on here and other forums!

  13. Hey I am 41 and still follow the band pretty regular even during the dead years. But GNR was and is still my favorite band. I enjoyed them back in the day and I also enjoyed NuGNR and I think it is bad ass that they are back together. I think as long as you have Axl Slash and Duff on the same stage most will not care that it is not a full reunion because we seen them without Izzy and Steven back in the UYI tour.

As far as what Axl looks like most people that have aged will understand he does not look the same as he did back in there hey day most of us have went through age changes also and he is what 12 years or so older than us.

People on this forum take what Axl looks like wayyyyyy to serious.

Now his vocals have to be better than they have been but it is insane to expect him to sound like he did back in the late 80's early 90's.

Myself I would love to hear vocals like in 06 but that just isn't going to happen now, I think 2010 is possible.

His energy level on stage needs to be stepped up and I think it will be but not to the level it was in 06 but 2010 Axl would be a good place for him to be at.

I'll take what I can get and most of us older folks will enjoy the shows we get a chance to see.

  14. Well, boo hoo...

It's gonna be Axl, Slash and Duff on the same stage first time since 1993. If you're not satisfied with that, stay home. Simple as that. This re-grouping is a dream come true, from a fan's point of view. In my opinion anyway. I mean, who would have thought it would ever happen? And yet, people are still bitching? I don't care about that kind of negativity.

Of course everybody are entitled to their opinions, but... I don't know. It's easy to bitch about things on the internet. People should be more positive.

That is the point.. A lot of people are staying home and it isn't a dream come true for most people.. This thing could have been huge..I am a fan.. I have been waiting for 23 years to see Guns N' Roses again.. This isn't it.. This still resembles NuGnR more than anything esle... It will also sound more like NuGnR than than anything else..

I don't think has to be the original 5 or bust but to have the original members outnumbered onstage just doesn't work.. Chris Pittman.. Just doesn't work... And unless Frank sucks it up and plays the songs like they should be played.. He doesn't work..

It will sound nothing like NUGNR.

As far as Izzy is concerned he most likely has no desire to do a full scale tour but he will be on stage from time to time when he feels like it.

Steven I just don't think we will see him very much if at all. I could be wrong.

What most fans will care about is Axl, Slash and Duff to a lesser exstint on the same stage together under the GNR name. Slash and Axl are GNR to alot of people.

  15. The reason GNR broke up was went Izzy left the band.

Izzy was the glue that held GNR together. He was the go between for Axl and Slash and went he left the band and the mega UYI tour was over that voice of reason between Axl and Slash was gone.

But it wasn't Izzy's fault he got out IMHO because he couldn't handle the stress of performing in front of so many people and it was even said he didn't like the message some of the songs where sending to teens and adults alike.

Can the reunion keep it together without Izzy in the picture full time I really thanks so. Yes there will be a some cancelled shows and if people throw shit the show will be stopped and warned and if it continues they all will walk off the stage. During the UYI tour it wasn't just Axl that got pissed off about people throwing shit it was Slash and duff also.

Like a few have said before if anything negative happens it will be Axl's fault no matter what and if something does go wrong and it is the BAND'S decision to call off the show I would hope Slash and Duff would speak out on why it went down the way it did but if it is all Axl then he will get what he deserves from the fans and especially the media.

  16. If this turns out be a confirmation that GNR are going to have a reunion tour I hope we see more than Axl and they play a song or 2 during the show.

I mean if it is ONLY Axl there I would think it would be to tell everyone it isn't true.

But since know one outside of the GNR circle really knows what is going on they would not say that the rest of the band will be there or there would be nothing to announce if it was billed as Axl and Slash will be on the show.

  17. IMHO they will not sell enough tickets to pack a stadium except in very large markets like New York or somewhere in California.

It will be mostly any arena tour holding 20,000 +/- a few thousand people in most markets in the US.

The US is not a good place to tour right now and it really hasn't been good for a long while for rock bands compared to South America and Europe.

  18. Has anyone elses rock stations been playing the hell out of GNR?

Over the past 2-3 weeks the local rock station has been playing the hell out of GNR and not just the hits alot songs that where never released as singles. Right now they are playing more GNR songs than any other rock band.

GNR has always been in the rotation but the amount of GNR songs they are playing has probably tripled. Also they USE to play some CD stuff but now it's all the older stuff.

I live in a rural area so we really only have one rock station so I have no other station to compare it with.

I know not alot of people listen to the radio much but I still do.

This maybe nothing or it could be that stations are saturating the air ways with GNR to get people thinking about them more with it looking like there will be a reunion and this could be the start of marketing it. Anytime a band is releasing a new album or touring in the future this station plays there old stuff pretty hard and heavy before either the album is released or the touring even has started.

    Just wishful thinking probably
