  1. In regards to Ron leaving GNR i think it's a bit of a blessing in disguise. Remember the foot guitar back in '06. I found that to be quite an embaresement for a band that was once "the most dangerous band in the world"

And I guy wearing a KFC Bucket, mask, rain coat, with num chucks, flashing eye slits and talked with a puppet wasn't even more embarrassing?

Bucket is a talented player but the fans of GNR that where us to seeing the original band most likely thought what a damn joke this is and they also seen at the same time another guitarist that was basically bold headed with what little hair he had tied up together.

If it wasn't for my love GNR since I first bought AFD in 1987 I would have never knew them.

  2. I have always liked Riad. I don't think it gets the credit it deserved. ITW, Sorry and catcher I don't care for but they do get alot of love from others, just not my cup of tea.

  3. I still to this day believe UMG make it next to impossible for him to release the first album, to say it was just them would be a pretty big stretch.

Who fired the first shot either Axl or UMG there is no telling but we all know if someone pushes Axl he will push back and even screw himself over just to give a pay back. No promo for the release CD from Axl pretty much says to he walked into the record company and said here it is take or leave it, the record company always wanted a reunion and used managers and folks behind the scenes that where somewhat close to Axl to influence him into a reunion.

I pretty sure Slash and Duff, more so Slash than duff fought tooth and nail to stop Axl form using the GNR name and that probably would add to the delay, Axl doesn't talk to the press or anyone about lawsuits or interviews that claim he said something when he didn't. That's Axl since started work on CD, NOW of it was the 89-93 Axl would have had some huge rants if stuff like all this was going on then but he is alot more reserved and keeps stuff close to his vest. I wish he would speak out more but I don't see it happening.

Now we are talking about possibly a new album that still has alot of the butt hurt from CD on both sides.

Maybe label doesn't wants to release it and will not release GNR from there contract so they can release it on another label.

Or, Axl may want to switch labels because of all the drama with CD. I am sure Beta has checked all there spirits at the label and is telling him you can't release it because all the vibes are all wrong, we all know how he seems to listen to her more than he should and the the year of touring he seems to be pretty pissed at her too.

I think it maybe more likely he wants a different label and there is no way UMG is going to release Axl from his contract and he probably can't afford to buy it out right himself or is there any label that will try and buy the contract out knowing what a cluster fuck CD was to get out and I would bet if he got a new label all the stuff he has been working on would be property of UMG unless it is bought out.

Or it could be as simple as many have stated he is just LAZY.

  4. It looks like Axl got pissed at one of his brazilian entourage in the airport video.

He probably was supposed to open Axl's door for him and opened the front door.

There were headed into the airport anyway and the guy standing there that Axl was going off on had the body language like WTF is going on he followed them into the airport.

in the 2nd video you can understand why anyone famous that gets mobbed like that would not want to sign autographs for anyone.

I will bet if people would act right Axl would hang out longer and it would be better for everyone involved including the fans. He is my favorite singer but I wouldn't yell and scream at he to get him to sign something.

I remember back late 87 or very early 88 GNR was opening for Alice Cooper and Axl and Izzy came out about 15 mins before Alice took the stage and I talked to them for 10+ mins and they both signed my ticket which was lost in a house fire but they were nice a few people came up for autographs they signed most of them but if they acted all stupid they just told them to calm down or forget it. It was my favorite concert memory of all time.

  5. No underlying meaning at all.

Izzy never really wanted GNR to get huge, yes he wanted to make it and make a living at it but he never wanted to be the biggest band on the planet or anything close to it.

Live on stage you can see he is always in the background even early on before they hit it big that was where he felt most comfortable.

GNR being the huge monster that it was when he left is the main reason he left but I am sure the internal workings of the band at that time didn't help.

He loved to play and perform but not on a big scale.

We GNR lost Izzy they lost the voice of reason reason behind the scenes with Slash and Axl and they also lost the best guitar songwriter in the band, he was not a lead guitarist but I am sure he held Slashs hand alot and help develop the signature sound Slash has. I am not saying Slash sucked or anything Izzy just guided him along.

When Izzy left that pretty much sealed the deal that GNR was headed for disaster.

  6. I have nothing but respect for BBF. He is doing what he wants to do and that is making music to be release and heard which was not guaranteed to happen anytime soon in GNR land and if it did happen he might just be adding to what has already been recorded, I bet he took a stand and he walked or was told see ya!! I respect that.

For those that say he is just living off the he got with GNR because he was an underground musician before GNR, He has been in GNR since 2006 and for time served he should be able to use his time with GNR as a springboard for his other bands and solo work.

I know what they put out was a teaser of what's to come, but it sounds extremely generic. But I guess any song would song generic next to any song on CD.

I might think otherwise when I hear hear the songs in their entirety.

  7. For some reason on yahoo they had a link to "9 Bands that stayed together and got worse.

I ask why in the hell is GNR on this list????

    Guns N' Roses

Technically, an argument can be made that this band has broken up, since Axl Rose is the lone original member in the lineup.

Still, Rose teased fans with the release of a new album for just about a decade. When that album finally dropped, it was met with disinterest and derision.

WTF are this people on GNR did break up, I know there are most likely saying the GNR name is still going there for they didn't ever technically break up.

  8. the guy from dangerous toys

Jason McMaster - I interviewed him earlier this year. Really nice guy.

I think the guy from Hardcore Superstar is the closest thing we have today. Not exactly the same "sound" - but he sings with a lot of rasp and has the same kind of old school GnR vibe.

Since back in the day I have always thought Jason and Axl sounded alot alike.

I would have loved to hear Jason sing on AFD and Axl sing on Dangerous toys either on there Self titled release or Hellacious Acres, just for shits and grins.

I think Hellacious Acres would be better fit because Jason used more rasp on that album.

Axl had more control and range than Jason did but it would have been cool to hear them do this.

  9. To me GNR was the perfect band at the perfect time.

Music then was all about trying to putting a pretty face out there to help with the LP sales or the bands tried to pull off the bad boy route with limited success because they where poseurs that people didn't respect. There are exceptions but for the most part that is how I felt about the music scene back

Then there was GNR they broke the mold they where not pretty boy band and neither was there music it was a breathe of fresh air. A band that was dirty, mean, didn't give a fuck what anyone said and they where also a train wreck waiting to happen back then and people want that.

GNR really to me reinvented the hair band ballads and SCOM was born and took the world by storm. Yes it maybe considered a ballad but the guitars added alot of teeth to the song which is way it was different.

I remember seeing the ritz concert about 2-3 times a week on MTV, they where a band that done things how they wanted no matter the consequences or what the managers, record company or anyone else that said they had to do more low key.

I don't think the alternative movement was going to hurt GNR like it did some of the other 80's bands because Axl for one was never doing the status quo and keep pushing the GNR sound beyond what the last album and that was what I think would have keep them one of the biggest rock bands out there, but that also it what broke the band up because I feel Slash wanted to get back to the AFD sound. If they where to release a clone of AFD they would have been setting themselves up for failure because there is only one AFD and they would have ripped to shreds.

A band has to change and evolve to stay in the top 5-10 bands in the world no matter what genre is popular bands like GNR could have had the type of sound like The Rolling Stones you hear the music and you automatically know who it is and give it a good hard listen before you dismiss it.

Bottom line on the alternative movement it didn't kill GNR, GNR killed it's self by braking up. It isn't like they released a NEW studio album of all new material in '95 that didn't sell they just couldn't come together on the direction of the band and with 2 big egos like Slash and Axl it was only a matter of time before they parted ways.

  10. To be honest outside this forum for AFD Rocket Queen if pretty underrated.

Lies One in a Million yes people have heard the song but most didn't hear the song because they could get past some of the lyrics and kind of brushed it off as BS just to get people talking about the album and not to be taken seriously but they totally missed the song and what is was about , I think it is a great song.

UYI Coma has to be the most underrated GNR song of all time then there is Breakdown Pretty tied up

SI Hair of the Dog I just love that song but I do wish Axl would have been more powerful with his vocals and the ending of the song was not the best.

CD TWAT TIL Riad Prostitute I total hate CITR, Sorry and If the world, sue me I just can't stand those songs

  11. IMHO Bumblefoot's AM Ring 2006 has to be the best Nightrain Solo by far. Bumble took what was there and added some shredding and it just flowed.

To to mention the whole band was on fire that night.

I love it when Tommy leaned on him and he went straight for a lower note to a high note and you can see Tommy say in his ear "WOW" and Bumble got even more into it there also.

    And for you listening enjoyment....

    Need I say more.

I might get stones thrown at for this comment but......

I 2006-Present which plays the old songs at a faster tempo than the old band and it works so much better live.

When I watch the old band and get board of the snail pace the play the songs at.

I have been around since the beginning so I have seen guns both old and new many many times.

  12. Management and the Label pushed for Axl to have the rights to the GNR name. It only made since everyone else was fucked up on Drugs, booze or both. Axl was not an addict by that time and they seen this as a way for the

band to live on if anyone died or quit or was kicked out for not being able to perform or record because of there drug/booze problem(remember Steven). There families would have no say about the GNR brand name going

forward but they would still retain the future royalty rights of material that was completed when the member was still in the band.

I no way can you force someone to sign a contract whether it be directly on indirectly that goes for Axl, management and the label, it would get booted out in court no if and or but about it.

I am sure management, the label and Axl where all aware if this.

But one release in 13 years it not what management, the label or even Axl wanted when this was a done deal.

  13. I think the 2006 look was the best he as looked since the old days.

I am not saying has or is being treated for mental illness but......

If it is true that he has mental illness and is being treated with prescription drugs, most of those drugs for bi-polar and other mental illnesses can cause massive weight gain in just a few months , I know this from taking them and at the first of this year I was pretty heavy for me at 285lb I gain 63lbs in 2 months because of the side effects the pill gave, they switched my meds around and I am at 215lbs and have weighed this much since the first of june and I didn't change my eating habits and didn't work out or anything the weight just fell off of me I am 41 years old weigh less than did when I graduated high school. But a meds change and I could be up to 300lbs in a matter of a few months. That is just how it goes.

I would rather be mentally stable than worry about the weight I gain.

I hope this isn't the cause for Axl I wish mental illness on no one but what he weight has changes so many times form 2001-present It may be normal for him, I don't know.

  14. I am sure early on all the members done there fair share of drugs/alcohol. That is what bands did back then.

But I really believe Axl was the first to get, I don't to say clean but under control and just every now and then. This why I think he distanced his self from the band during the UYI tour.

Why do you think management and the label pushed so hard for him to be in control of the GNR name in case anyone died or whatever. To say it worked out good for the record company would be wrong because as much as I like the new band all those years to get an album out was not what the thought they would get.

I think when the band split there where lawsuits galore about Axl using the GNR name. The other members didn't sign the name over because Axl was refusing to go on stage unless it was signed, the contract would be thrown out in court so fast because there would have been under direst when the sign and would make the contract invalid.

I would still like to know what happened with the cancelled tour in 2002??? One of three things the promoter pulled the plug, Axl pulled the plug or a lawsuit or one that was on going an injunction to not use the GNR name and granted by a judge. I lean toward an injunction granted because Axl hardly ever talks about court cases and anytime it has been brought up he says he can't talk about it which makes me think there was a gag order.

This is just me thinking out loud.

  15. I think the album(s) are already done and have been for a while.

Axl has a contract UMG and there is really nothing he can do about how the album is released as far as when or what kind of promotion is given to the release.

I think it is UMG holding everything up just because they can and they fucked up release of CD and how very little promotion was given by UMG and basically none by Axl, they had a pissing contest and they both lost but they left Best Buy holding the bag. Financially the Best Buy deal helped re cope most of the cost of all the songs recorded up until that point including the other albums we have not heard but as far as album sales it was a very poor choice due to the lack of stores outside of big cities.

Also Axl putting the songs on myspace or whatever, several days before the album was released really ham stringed the sales, I don't know if Axl was trying to do that or he thought it would help but if I was a guessing man he done it out of spite to get back at UMG but by doing so he also hurt his pocket book but Axl is the type person that if he thanks he is getting fucked he will get you back at all costs and that includes his own pocket book and reputation. It doesn't matter to him he wants to win the fuck me, I'll Fuck back contest and he is one up on you then he is happy but until then, game on.

I really think UMG is working Axl over for all the shit he has caused with the whole CD thing, they are not innocent either though they rejected the album 2 times and I think when Axl turned it over to UMG for the last time he said here it is take or leave it. The all the shit before and after the release was there pissing contest.

UMG with Azoff as manager was going for a reunion of bust and when Azoff said to UMG it ain't going to happen and they conceded by releasing CD and Azoff the master mind of reunions jumped ship soon after which does add weight to this agreement.

I hope they see the light of day with or without a reunion and if we do get a reunion I would love for a new album to happen but that is not likely to happen.

  16. Rock in Rio 2001. It's thrilling.

The scream at the beginning. ... anyone ever counted how long that was ?

The scream for Rio III was 21 seconds

The scream for AM Ring 2006 was all most 24 seconds

But the screams will never again be like that siren wail of the original days. Now they are just regular metal-type screams. In the beginning, they were a sound no other singer could make. A deep, multi layered howl. Many people thought the beginning of Jungle on the actual album was electronic.

I agree. Axl really could make some badass sounds and they all fit right into the song, it was amazing he could make those sounds in the first place but to be able to them in songs and they all just fit that too was amazing. We will never see another singer like W Axl Rose, there are some that can do one thing or another but to have the vocal range, be able to go from very low to high/powerful in a split second and all the crazy sounds, all over the fucking stage, jumping off stuff and anything else he can think of and be considered one of if not the best front man of all time(of all time is debatable). I am talking more 87-93 hear. I don't see there being another bigger than life RNR front man.

Back when WTTJ came out and I got AFD my friends would say, why did they put that siren sound at the front of the song and I said no it is Axl making that sound.

You know even with the WTTJ video alot of people still didn't believe it was him and some sort of recording of that sound they used.
