  1. But what about Axl's little lawsuit with activision hmmm? That all had to do with Slash and wanting him removed or whatever from GTH. Why would that have been fair had Axl actually won it?It wasn't causing any harm to nuGuns with Slash being on the game.

That was part of the agreement that both Axl and Activision signed to get the GNR songs on there, now I don't know to what exstent that Slash was supposted to be involved with the game but when Axl agreed I am sure it was much, much, much less that Slash being the poster child for the game. So I agree I don't think Slash being on the game really hurt anything but a contract is a contract and if broken there is a right to sue for breach of contract, it's that simple.

He sued after the game was released, I beleive he was sueing Activion and seeking damages for breach of contract. That did not stop or slow the release of the game it was an after the fact things.

  2. If it hasn't already been pointed out......

He did NOT see GNR open for aerosmith in 1986..... It was 1988 is seen that tour on a couple of stops. Doesn't really matter though

As far as seeing GNR in 2002 He did really sum up what most fans thought of the band then, and that was it was basically a freak show.

I am sorry by Buckethead leaving and Robin lossing the fucked up hair, cloths and make up where both a step in the right direction as far as the appearance of the band when you consider what GNR use to look like. Also Axl opening band picks some where a shock to people thinking they where going to a rock concert and getting opening bands or people that where not rock bands.

Before all you Buckethead cupcakes chime in on my post he done alot for GNR in the studio and is a very gifted player but he just was not a fit for GNR when it came being on the stage. I don't fault Bucket for this he was doing what he knew but it just didn't work live for GNR, I know it is not suppost to be about looks and about the music but if you had not been following GNR once the opener came and then GNR hitting the stage MOST fans would be like Corey WTF is this and go away shaking your head and be like GNR concert never going again.

I will disagree that the 2002 line was the best NuGNR lineup, they did do some productive work in the studio but that is about it. Touring with the 2002 line up hurt GNR at the fan base level.

2006 it was like he redeemed GNR somewhat.

I think the line up right now is the BEST nugnr line up ever put together, they have the being on stage in front of crowd down pat. They sound very good live and I only can hope we get an album with the line up we have now, I think it would change some peoples minds about opinions they formed in 2002 and the fuck up release of CD. I really think CD got alot of B-sides put on it just to fuck the record company which in turn Axl also fucked himself. I have nothing to back that statement up I just think that is what happened.

  3. On sirius/xm Luc Carl was talking about a photo that he got on his tweeter account showing Axl and a guy at the bar, it was suppost to have been taken in brazil in late feb.????

Some folks where bashing Axl for looking old and Carl said folks he is over 50 he isn't going to look 25 all his life and asked if you are 50 or older do you look the same as you did at 25, give the guy a brake!!

It seems like I have seen it before..... Mods if it is old please delete the tread.

  4. bran That is also what I am getting at. The hair bands like Poison, Ratt and Bon Jovi to name a few, most all there songs where just sappy loves or more up beat songs done in the hair band sound.

Where GNR where at that time a band that was real ruff around the edges, none of them had the "pretty boy" look.

There music was raw, reckless and obscence. GNR was a breathe of fresh air in the music scene back then, they where the perfect band at the perfect time, I know SCOM is what really broke them but getting Jungle played on MTV already started that process but without SCOM they would have never had the success they had.

I just don't think there music was hair band sounding songs, I don't hear a Ride the Wind, Up all night, Livin on a prayer or anything like that on AFD or any GNR album.

  5. For those of us around during the hair band era and the folks that have done some back tracking due to age and seen what 80's hair bands where all about......

Do you consider GNR a hair band? I think not but I am sure some will disagree. I know they did hit the scene during the hair band days they where still far from being a pretty boy hair band. Long hair doesn't mean you are a hair band.

Sure when they where coming up in the clubs they did have the teased hair.

Also in WTTJ video Axl had his hair teased out and popcorn always had his bangs teased somewhat and then there was Slash with the curly fro but to say it was teased would be a stretch.

SCOM everyone but popcorn had pretty well dropped the hair spair.

Look at Warrant, Poison, Slaughter, Trixter, Bon Jovi, Faster Pussycat and list could go on. These band are hair bands no doubt. I didn't care much for them, they had some good songs just wasn't what I was into. Warrant had a badass song called Uncle Toms Cabin now that song rocks!!!!

Also most hair band had sappy love songs, GNR didn't yes they done ballads but they where pure power ballads with badass solos that where much heavier than the songs take Estranged and Slashs great solo on that song, pure power!!! But the song was a ballad just no a sappy love song thought.

TIL is a totally different cridder it is a ballad done in a way that no RNR band has ever done, it is not a sappy love song but it is not a pure power ballad either, all I can say it is a totally different animal.

Back in the late 80' and early to mid 90's I was into bands like Danzig, Metallica, Dangerous Toys, Junkyard, Powerman 5000, White Zombie, Static-X (a little later on), Nitro, Soundgarden, Skid Row......

So I really wasn't into the pretty boy bands.

Take Metallica they had big hair for a time but they are not considered a hair band. Hell Kiss and Ozzy had teased hair, I like Ozzy but Kiss I don't care much for.

Motely Crue, they aren't really considered a hair band but they had make up and big hair and it is kind of strange with them but after AFD hit big and GNR quit the big hard they did also, I know there is no love lose between GNR and Motley Crue. I think Motley Crues biggest problem with GNR is that GNR made MC "the bad boys of RNR" look more like a hair band and when GNR got the title of "The worlds most dangerous band" MC didn't like being detroned.

After me Rambling on about how do you feel about when people or DJ's saying GNR was/is a hair band?

  6. I have seen serval comments about Axl coming on 30 mins or so after the opener....

Well that is all fine and dandy but the tickets say 8pm and the opener comes on around the 9:30 mark that right there is up to a 1.5 hour delay then the change over 30-60mins and if after the change over is done Axl is 30 mins late which he has been on the most recent tour and he has come on quickly after the change over but the wait is still there.

Up to 1.5 hour delay in opener start time + 30 mins of Axl being late = 2 hour wait without the change over included. Add the change over and it's 3 hours.

I was at the show at Nashville my ticket said on it 7:30pm start time BLS was on around the 9:30pm mark then a 45 min change over with at most 25min wait but that is still close to 2.5 hours without the change over time included.

Before BLS people where leaving and the venue was fully refunding there ticket price and even after BLS people left and got a full refund on there ticket price.

I know people who did leave and they did get a refund but they had to turn there ticket in at the venue box office in order to get there refund.

    THIS DID HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!

It is complete BS if the opener hit the stage on time and GNr did too then the show would have been over before GNR ever actually took the stage that night, this is a simple cold hard fact....

That night they just changed how they went about the delay to help Axl do whatever it is he does to make himself late.

Like I said I am a diehard fan but enough is enough.

Should blame ticketmaster, at the Hamilton show that year about 2 weeks before the show ticketmster sent an email saying the start time had changed to 9pm from the 730 original time with refunds available

TicketMaster is not who is to blame. If they contracted the show to start at 7:30 and pushed it back an hour an half a week or two before, Camp GNR did this so the lateness would be factored into the show.

It is just another excuse to blame someone else is all it is. They used TicketMaster to do there deed.

I know they will most likely be late but damn it's really getting old and is causing the casual fan base to die off.

Like I said I am a die hard fan but I just hate seeing Axl throwing away his fan base for a couple of hours or so of lateness, thats all.

I know I can't change this but it does get fustrating and it is also fustrating to see all the excuses people on this forum will come up with, I am not singling you out or anything because there has to be 1000 excuses that have been posted here to defend Axl's be late.

And the biggest excuse is, That's be RNR coming on late, as stated before in the early 90's it was not a big deal but since the new band started it has ALWAYS been a problem, the days of being late and it being called RNR are gone and so will the fan base if they don't get it fixed.

  8. Nightrain from AM ring is IMHO the best GNR have ever sounded playing Nightrain!!

AM Ring was the best concert of the new era of GNR and it is better than most of the old shows from back in the day. I think it is in the top 10 or even 5 but I haven't watched every show.

I like how GNR in the new form plays the old songs at a faster tempo than the old band ever did and it makes the songs sound and flow so much better.

Disclaimer: I am a fan way back in late 87 so I have been around a while but that doesn't mean someones opionion can't be different than mine.

  9. I have to agree about the start times.

IF they would have the opener play from 7:30 to 8:30 they could be on stage about 15 past 9 if the change over goes good and the show would be before or not long after midnight which IMHO would be ideal,

I really think the late starts have hurt GNR as far as people that would like to go to the concert but they know it will start when most bands that play are close to being done.

I think there is no doubt about it that the late starts hurt ticket sales more than most would think.

Yes I am a die hard fan I will go no matter what but the average person will think twice about it if they seen them or had friends that have seen them in the past and the start time was late as hell. There is not near as much tolarance for late start times as there was in the 90's.

I really wish Axl would get that fixed because for the fans it would be a more enjoyable show, there would be less shit thrown at the stage, which is a problem at times but some folks get pissed during the wait while others just do it for the shock effect of what will Axl do, if there overseas where public transpertation is the main way of getting to and from the gig they should adjust the start time to accomidate the fact that people need a ride home.

This isn't about being RNR it's about consideration and repecting your fans they paid good money to see you only to have to leave an hour into the show to get a ride home.

The usual excuses people put on here to defend the start times are not valid excuses and if the shows start on time you wouldn't need to post excuses.

  10. Where is the lack of quality in the 3 hour performance?

    Solos and covers? :)

I will agree the solos are not a very good part if the show.

But I do enjoy most of the covers played, I don't know if it is because I am a die hard fan or not but the covers they do live are songs they have actually made better than the orginals and really "feel" like a GNR song. The only cover I grow tired of is KOHD they have made the song even more bloated than it was during the UYI days. That is one song I wish they would have recorded and played live stripped down like they did at the Ritz in 88, that was magical!!!! Everytime I hear the recorded version for UYI and live from 91-present I thnk they really fucked up the magic it had back in 88

  11. Damn I never knew that little question would amount to this.

I know there are solos and what no in the setlist.

I think it was and is great they put on long shows the solos if you don't like it and your not on the floor then it's bathroom time.

By me saying basically after the concert I was burnt out on GNR I meant that as a good thing!!!!! I got one hell of a show.

Really when you think about it if you leave a concert from any band and you go out to the car and pop in that bands music to listen to on the way home they left you wanting more that night but I you don't want to hear them because of the long kick ass show you got your moneys worth.

  12. Since the UYI days GNR have been regularly doing 2.5-3.5 hour shows. When you think about it that is at time double what most headliners do and did back in the UYI days.

I wonder what made the band to decide to do this in 91? Does anyone know?

Now it seems the shows are more in the 2.5 hour range but that is still alot more than most bands do but if GNR played a show for 2 hours or less people would say it was a short setlist.

I know solos and all add to this time just as they did back in 91.

I remeber seeing them in 92 and they played around 3 hours and 10 mins with a one min. Slash and other solos and after the show we got in the car and a GNR song was playing on the radio and we turned the channel, I didn't listen to GNR for a few weeks because GNR just kicked our asses for over 3 hours and we where in GNR overload which is a good thing. To be honest that is the only concert I have ever been to that I was just overwelmed by the show.

  13. I think from things I have read, which I am sure some are more accurate than others but here mostly from interviews.

The business end of things as far the the orgianl band by that I mean Slash and to some extent Duff, I am sure tried to there to hearts content to get the new band shut down and not carry on the GNR name and if Axl did carry on the GNR name where the orginal member intiltled to a piece of the new bands profits. That all had to be sorted out. I think it delayed the album more than what people think. I am not against Slash, or anyother orginal member, I think they really thought they where protecting the GNR name and would have also forced the issue of a reunion.

The record company rejected CD twice that I have heard of and that would basicaly crush Axl and make him doubt himself and managers putting bigs in his ears about a reunion(more on that next) It also pissed him off. I would bet that when CD was delivered to UMG it was like hear it is take it or leave it, that is why the sleeve lryics and writing credits where all fucked up. And with the release both Axl and the record company gave each other a big fuck you as far as promoting the album.

Managers they all wanted one thing to get the old band together. That is what the record company wanted all along so they bring in the master of reunions Azoff and he had the pleasure of tell UMG he couldn't get it done and he left the band and when he did so he done it in a way to fuck up a tour.

Axl himself could have done himself alot of favors by being more flexable in the business and artist end of the whole process. We all no he will almost never back down and if you cross him he will get you back in his own way. That is not really a good thing to have your life driven by and this is revenge.

I fault alot of people with how the new band struggled to get the record recorded and accepted by the record company.

I think the biggest players in this as far blocking the new band was UMG and Axl. UMG only wanted a reunion they didn't want the new band to see the light of day. I think this gave Axl a hatred of UMG that went so deep it blinded him to what it was doing with the new band.

I thnk why CD era band members left was more to do with promises made on when the album would be out and when to tour. Then with the album being shot down twice and then the auctal release of CD with no touring or promotion promted members to leave when they happened.

I will go with this NO ONE is innocent in this thing from Axl, UMG, management, the orginal members, the departed members of the CD era, and I think this list could go on and on.

  14. If he did do WTF is the big deal, people do it everyday for just 30 or so pounds. Hell if you go by the height a weight scale if you aren't skin and bones you weight too much. That is what they go by and the total body fat.

Yes there are guidelines for a gastic bypass but if you got the money Dr's will do it even if you don't really need it.

I am not saying he did, all I am saying whats the big deal either way.

Hell I had the lower half my stomach removed due to a tumor they THOUGHT was cancer and it wasn't and I am 6'3" 231lbs and I am over weight dispite the loss of the lower half of my stomach and having delayed gastic emptying from damage to the vagual nerve and my stomach muscles don't contract right and I throw up after every meal because my body says that food should be gone after about 1-2 hours on my stomach and it is throw up time. Nothing I can do but roll with it because I can't stop it from happening. I get some food through my stomach but I usually throw up more than half. Hell I can't even get one full egg through my stomach in 2 hours, the test showed I had 65% of the egg was still in my stomach after 2 hours and it should have been 0% left. Last year I lost 65lbs over 4 months and I am holding my weight now.

  15. I followed LA Guns up until about 92.

There first two albums LA GUNS and Cocked n Loaded where pretty good not great but pretty good.

Hollywood Vampires there 3rd album is where they lost me it was like they made a record out in left feild and the sound just didn't work for them, it had at best a couple of songs on it that where ok.

After that I have no idea what they done.

I was listening to LA Guns folder on my usb in the car about 3 weeks ago. That probly satisfied my craving for LA Guns for the next year or so.

  16. Here is a linkg to slide show of 15 celebrities that have had plastic surgery that had gone wrong or made them look worst

A 2006 pic of Axl they have show first on the list. But they put him in the company of Micheal Jackson. There is a little bit of difference there.

  17. Sorry but anyone with the username SlashIsGOD can't be taken seriously. How can it not be done by him? Its advanced shredding guitar work, which isn't Slash's thing.

That said, I'd pay money to go watch Slash attempt to play the Chinese Democracy songs

The plus side is no one would know if he messed them up cuz no one knows those songs.

That said, I'd pay money to go watch Slash attempt to play the Chinese Democracy songs

One could say that a teenager who pretended to be Izzy Stradlin online shouldn't have his opinion taken seriously.

The overwhelming majority of Gn'R fans want Slash and Duff back. The only ones who don't are kids who were too young to experience Gn'R the first time around so they are cool with anybody that Axl hires. Of course Slash could play the ChiDem material. This isn't Malmsteen level difficulty.

I doubt Duff is coming back even for these gigs. It would be great but I just don't see it happening.

I grew up on GNR back in the late 80's and early 90's.

But not long after the UYI tour wrapped up with both Steven and Izzy not in the band already GnR as I knew first knew with was gone in '91 and even more so gone in '92.

Then come 1995 it was over as far as the band that was the as it was in '92 which was Axl, Slash and Duff and 2 hired hands.

Now we have what is considered widely as "NU"GNR which to me it is Guns N Roses.

Why sit around and bitch about who was better and say things like if you ever heard the orginal band you would hate the NU band. That is total BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know everyone is gone but Axl but to tell you the truth I liked CD more than anything the others have done, I will give credit to VR they had a couple goods songs but there albums as a whole where shit!!!

I have seen both the GNR of 87 88 88 91 92 and the GNR of 2006 2010 2012. Both bands are great in different ways I don't try and compare them, but I end up doing but it really is just plitting hairs when I do.

If they do a reunion I am up for it but I will take GNR anyway I can get and that is not a compromise that is taking things for what are and at face value.

And to the folks saying Slash could shred, highly doubtful but that is not his cup of tea. I bet Slash could not play most of the stuff on CD other than a few solos and rhythm. But again he don't play that way.

Now BBF on the other hand has the ability to play both the CD material and ANY back catalog material put out from AFT to TSI. He can play it note for note if HE wants to but he doesn't he adds his own style to the songs, which he should.

I remember years ago people saying "There is no way this band could play Estranged like the UYI band" well guess what BBF played it early on NOTE FOR NOTE and when he took over the first part of the solo from DJ and he done the full solo it was to perfection. But in later gigs he added his own style to it which changed it a bit and it still sounds as good as it ever has.

You can say BBF doesn't have "feel" with the bluesier song but he does and and he can shred with "feel" also that is a pretty wicked combination. But is he BETTER than Slash no just different.

  18. I don't think they have over saturated the market in the US. The economy is shit in the US right now people are not spending the money on act that are considered older by saying this I mean a mom and or dad won't pay to go see a band of there youth but they will buy there kids a ticket to see who they like. The the big main stress singers or band that the youth of american is more interested in will pack the arenas.

James Hetfield has even said in an interview that they don't know what the deal is in the USA as far as ticket sales when conpaired to the rest of the world and they will not be touring on a large scale in the USA anytime in the foreseeable future due to the declining ticket sales.

IMHO It's the economy plain and simple!

  19. Never really liked the ritz, Axl and Slash were pretty bad on this one.

Slash? Maybe. He wasn't at the top of his game that night but even when Slash was bad he was still brilliant.

But Axl? Axl fucking owned that show!

IMHO Axls voice went to shit for the last half of the show.

Everyone in GNR was fucked up for that show and there playing of the songs suffered but it was still an ICONIC performance that showed the world who GNR was at THAT TIME.

  20. 19880202ticket.jpg

Disclaimer: no I didn't go, but I thought this was pretty cool.

I remember there was mention of the video crew being there to shoot Great White, and I think the same thing happened when GNR shot SCOM and Great White made "Once Bitten Twice Shy" or another video.

GNR and Great White had the same manager and at first is was GNR opening for Great White with Great White being the one fimed for an MTV special.

The manager, I think his name was Allen Niven went to Great White and sad basically you guys can't follow GNR and the show they put on you would have a dead crowd, and he asked GW if they would open and be a tough act to follow insteed of trying to follow the toughest at in RNR at time and they done it.

There is an interview of there old manager eplaining how it all went down. It is a webcast on youtube with several parts to it which is very interesting but I don't know where that part is here is one of the webcast parts
