  1. listenin to black mountainside as we speak....this first album kicks ass!!! im such a first album person, they always appeal to me the most, they did with Please Please Me & Englands Newest Hitmakers...and so far too with Led Zeppelin I.

  2. i borrowed early days off a friend a year or so back...but i was kinda lookin' at it thru punk shades and although good times bad times, rock n roll, dazed n confused stuck out to me...i kinda...dismissed a lot of the others offhand and i guess i wasnt REALLY paying attention but anywayz...i hear this song played by somebody i THINK its called Black Dog i remember some of the lines roughly "been somethin somethin i found out what people mean by down and out" and "i dont know i been told big legged woman aint got no soul" (dont laugh, thats what it sounded like to me!!) and i jus been playin the nuts offa this song, over n over n over n over n over and i dont even know what its called, i just took the cd outta my friends car where i was listenin to it (it was a burn) and jus repeated that track over n over n over, i jus love it to bits, somethin bout that guitar bit is like....simple yet fuckin just totally totally perfect. so i figure fuck it and got all their albums today offa ebay (for under 50 bucks, pretty good i thought) assuming i got the right shit, led zeppelin 1 2 3 4, in through the out door, houses of the holy, presence and physical graphitti. kind of a dumb move considering i might hate the shit but somethin bout that song REALLY fucking turned me on. i hope their not another fucking pink floyd cuz i dunno...theres so much promise in that shit. this is prolly gonna sound insulting to hafta explain this shit to me cuz i know they're like, rock gods or whatever but tell me about em!!! i mean, albums, which ones good, which ones bad, did i get the right ones, am i missin one, who the fuck are they, i know this much bonham, drummer, dead, drugs, not gettin back together again. page singer sounds kinda like axl, plant guitarist, supposed to be hot shit...thats it. oh yeah, i remember hearin somethin about groupies and sharks once? and uh, they're from england, i dunno, someone help me out. really hope they dont suck but so what if they do, nothin ventured nothin gained and WHATEVER happens, that one song with be the shit until the shit dries up!

Tough to read your post since you don't know how to spell, but I find it hard to believe you've never heard of Led Zeppelin. I think you're full of shit, especially since you are a die hard fan of the Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, etc.. These bands were popular at the same time Led Zeppelin was. You know it, stop pulling our chains.

the thread is titled "Led Zeppelin, i never got into em" now where in the fuck does that suggest that i haven't heard of them? yeah i like the pistols and iggy pop and yeah they were around the same time as zeppelin but i wasnt actually alive then so what the fuck has that got to do with anything and anyway, why the fuck would i lie about that i mean, to what ends?!?!?! if u look in the beggining of the post i even said i borrowed a zeppelin album offa a friend a coupla years ago but never really listened to it. please try and make sense at least.

  3. Paul McCartney's first solo album.

EVERYBODY had high hopes for it...the whole Beatle connection and all,but moreso based on the strength of the first single from it...Maybe I'm Amazed, which is a great track and still holds up today.

Unfortunately the rest of the album didn't own up to the strength of Maybe I'm Amazed.

The "gifted" Beatle didn't deliver the goods.

apologise now and i wont make you cry!! :P:lol: j/k!

  4. It was probably Mr. Crowley who wrote it then...

are we talking about the same Crowley as in Alaister Crowley, Thelema and shit?? whats he got to do with Led Zeppelin?!?!?!

  5. ...living loving maid were the stand out tracks to me....

I think Page rates that as the worst Zeppelin song ever. I like it though.

REALLY????? shit i thought it was cool :):):) was it ever explained why he thought it werent all that?

  6. i went through a phase a coupla years back where it was ALL i listened to. its REALLY a cool and origninal genre insofar as the format was unprescedented in the 60s when it came out, bass led, reverb and echo heavy music with those little toasts they had. King Tubby, Lee 'Scratch' Perry these guys are so influential, i mean with DUb im not sure that we'd have had techno, house and a lotta dance music. i mean, before this the only dance music was rock n roll, Dub REALLY changed the face of music in a way that was very understated and its contribution became obvious from the late 80s onwards. Reggae in general was a format buster i think. anyfans?

  7. listened to Zeppelin II. its kinda cool y'know :):):) that song Heartbreaker has the coolest riff, whole lotta love and living loving maid were the stand out tracks to me but there really isnt a bad song on the whole album. i'll be honest, it IS really good but i think its gonna require multiple listens to REALLY get into it whereas certain albums are just drop dead classics when you hear em on the spot, not to at all detract from this cuz it did kick ass its just kinda...all the extended instrumental bits take a bit to digest.

  8. Yeah, I think Hell was more about the scene than being a musician, you're right he was more into writing. Funny thing I see him around the neighborhood every once and a while, looks way different know a days.

where?!?!?!?!?! (im in NY too, tell!!!!!!)

I dont know exactly where he lives, but he definitley still lives in the East Village. I last saw him on Ave A.

i'd be SOOO embarassing if i met that guy. on seconds thoughts i just wouldn't period, just end up makin a dick outta myself.

I just gave him a look, like "I know who you are." I really didnt wanna be fanboy and bother him.

he strikes me as very pissed at the british scene, like a lotta people from around the old new york scene, people like Legs McNeil and stuff, which is kinda sad.

Well they're probably pissed that the majority of people think punk started with the Pistols, when we know it didnt. I think the old guys from the NY scene just want people to know that.

the label punk is laid on a lotta folks...and what the pistols were doin is a world apart from what hell was doin so he has nothing really to be mad at. i mean...suicide are punks, james chance and the contortions are punks dead kennedys are punks the slits are punks, they have NOTHING in common...so whats rich mad about?

  12. The Voidoids 1st album was good but other than that... While Johnny has all the NY Dolls, Heartbreakers, and solo stuff.

you pretty much nailed it right there!

i'd hafta say Johnny as a musician but thats not really a fair comparison really cuz Hell wasnt...expressly interested in rock n roll, he was more of a literary person. Hell went from Television to pissin Tom Verlaine off to joining the heartbreakers and pissin everyone there off cuz he wanted to be the leader not realising the whole reason they came about was to give Johnny HIS band then he made the voidoids, released that incredible album and went on the anarchy tour to get spat at by british fans. Hell is like the unsung hero of Punk Rock who never really got any dues at all. i mean people say that about the ramones but they at least get credit now, no ones even heard of Hell to this day and he started Television was in the heartbreakers made the voidoids, INCREDIBLE band really, with Mark 'Ramone' Bell on the kit...intense fucking band really walk on the water, liars beware, down at the rock n roll club were terrific songs, not forgetting blank generation. he also, allegedly co-wrote chinese rocks and wrote Hurt Me for Thunders which is one of Thunders best fucking songs, really low key and emotionally suggestive whereas most of thunders like tragic songs were very lyrically clear, Hurt Me was really one of the best thunders had to my mind. the comparison is totally unfair cuz Hell i think could give a shit about music once the 80s came around.

He has released shit since during and since the 80's. Anyway the question was asking who you preferred.

yeah but it was fairly half assed really wasnt it? to be honest i cant answer, i like em both for different reasons. Johnny was the better musician.

  14. thats one of my favourite guitar riffs. i think that song is easy for beginners but hard for experienced guitar players. for some reason only beginners can play that song. no please excuse me while i beat up another stoner.

oooh, i have an the better part of an ounce in my room, if i light up will you hurt me??? shhyah

  15. shit thats pretty fucking cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look at the iguana!!!! n yeh, they're chelsea girl tracks. ever see the movie chelsea girls? or the movie velvet underground??

Alright, I will get Chelsea Girl soon.

I haven't seen either of those films. :(

chelsea girls is a trip, i ordered it from italy, comes in two video cassettes and Velvet Underground is just them jammin for 25 mins with the camera goin herky jerky on em. u should be able to get em offa ebay.

Can I get them anywhere else?!?!

Do you have Peel Slowly and See?!?!

yeah i got peel slowly and see, someone stole it for me out of a college dorm cuz i couldn't afford it at the time and someone knew this loser who had it. as for gettin them, i dunno, they crop up on ebay from time to time, thats only place i seen em, along with those other warhol shorts.

  16. Super Lyrical

    Deep Cover 98

    Beware

    glamour life

    dream shatterer

    you aint a killer

these are fuckin incredible tracks. this guys flow is up there with Biggie Smalls, i seriously seriously SERIOUSLY think that the guy coulda been, no fuck coulda, he WAS one of the best of ALL time, its such a shame he died he was lyrically just incredible, i can't believe how underrated this album is, its such a disservice to this immense talent. this is like one of those immense hip hop albums like lifestyles ov da poor and dangerous, all eyez on me, paid in full, the great adventures of slick rick, am i black enough for ya, ready to die and the slim shady LP that will stand the test of time i think for years to come. unlike people like Big L who had to rely expressly on their lyricism on some tracks cuz the production was generic, the whole rig on this album is REALLY hot. i urge you to check it out if u haven't.
