Oh wow, great catch.
I sure hope the vinyl gets released on it's own too.
I wonder if they're just breaking up the old sets in hopes to sell off the pieces individually. If so, then the vinyl could be an option to show up on the website. There's also a chance that they may hold it back and release them as Record Store Day Exclusives for Black Friday or even next April.Either way, I hope they get sold on their own soon!
that would be cool. that goes to show they totally screwed up this release. this didn't even happen to the KISS $2k boxset

I really liked DJ's TIL solo. Much better than Slash's.

part of me laughs at Slash and Duff thinking they're gonna get Axl in a studio to record songs from scratch. The other part of me is scared and says oh no we're not gonna get ChiDem2 material.

I finished it last night and thought it was great. Made me curious to read a book or two on it. I don't exactly get the "greatest show ever" hype but I also haven't paid much attention to it.

Black Frog Entities was likely the entity through which Axl did NuGnR business.
Pretty common knowledge that Black Frog was the entity that Axl ran all things nuGNR through

Could be a Delaware entity (most common jurisdiction), so not sure any legal filings would be in a California system
Could be. But knowing that they have always filed in CA I find that unlikely. You can still search DE though. I'm not that interested in finding the answer but I know a few people here probably are.

Alternative could be that Axl, Slash, and Duff are shareholders in a LLC or limited partnership. Presumably, they’d do an LLC, which would be more common and a better decision legally.
My guess is they created a new legal entity (an LLC), Axl contributed the rights to GNR (since he controlled or owned it) in exchange for partnership interest units in a newly formed LLC. Revenue generated by concerts, merch, music are revenue at the LLC and net earnings (post all expenses, including employee costs for Dizzy, Melissa, Richard and Frank, and mgmt fees by Beta and team) are distributed to the three unit holders (aka shareholders)
But this is pure speculation!
I spent about 5 minutes searching this last night. I didn't find any "new" corporations or LLC. The original GNR, Inc is still dissolved while Axl renewed Black Frog Entities and Black Frog Music about two months ago. Again, I didn't really spend much time on it. Anyone can go search the California corporations site.

I didn't ask, but I don't think he was ever rumored to be part of it?
indeed he was rumored. missed the boat big time by not asking that question!

that Slash wasn't accurate. He was clearly 2016 Slash because he played too many notes

after months of procrastination I finally pulled the trigger on upgrading my amp. I got a Rega Brio + Pro-Ject Vacuum cleaner from MusicDirect. Arriving Thursday!
I only managed to get Weezer Teal on RSD since I decided to sleep in and go in the afternoon. I had to get Weezer Gems and My Chemical Romance online at a few bucks more than retail but still a lot lower than the outrageous prices. still looking for Green Day Woodstock but only at retail price. I'd be interested in The Crow as well if i can find it cheap enough.

The same company presses the Ju Ju Hounds album as well as 117. I may have to look into getting all 3.
I have quite a few MOV releases, including the above Izzy albums. They also did Duff's Believe in Me recently. All of them are steller releases and I have no complaints. Give or take a decade ago they were known for putting out sub-par work but I haven't seen any complaints about their releases in recent years. The source they use for the vinyl pressing is sort of whatever they can get so sometimes its CD sourced. Nonetheless, i'm expecting this release to be solid and look forward to getting it.

I would consider getting a second box if it drops to about $300 just for the LPs and maybe do something with the posters and Litho's.

Bad was released at a time when the record companies were still trying to get all music buyers to fully switch over to CD. So Leave Me Alone was only included on the CD to entice people to buy that over vinyl or cassette.
Leave Me Alone was eventually issued as a single and was added on to the vinyl pressings of Bad from there out. It was done quietly, no big reissue campaign or anything.
Didn't know that!! I have an OP (I think) I bought used right before the vinyl boom hit and got it rather cheap. I haven't picked up any of the reissues/remasters because from what I've seen online they are notoriously bad and compressed so OP is the way to go.

great interview! Not to diminish Gary's role in OMG but I always imagined him having a much larger role during that time period in teaching/coaching Axl and playing on OMG/Chinese. I was totally fascinated in hearing Gary talking about hanging out with Axl at his house and I would love for him to expand on that some more next time. I would also love to hear if he had any interaction with Tommy and other band members, his initial impressions on Axl versus what the public makes him out to be, and more.

I heard (haven't tried) that you can use the code HOLIDAY for 20% off on music vaultz so you should be able to get the bundle deal that @RussTCB got for the L&L and Turntable at $500 USD.

I would pick CD material all day long. I believe Zutaut when he says everything was coming out in 2016. We know Axl and Pitman were posting studio pics and then the reunion happened and Pitman went on his crazy reunion rant.

the main GNR shop only reflects 249 units left. Clearly that's not accurate since you can get it directly from amazon, musicdirect, etc now

Even though the box set has been discounted quite heavily since the original purchase price I paid for it, I still have no regrets! I play the LPs quite often and I listen to the Sound City demos more than the regular album version. Love it!

My book has the same mistake but don't know what page it is. I just took it as a goof by the manufacturer. No big deal really.

Disc 1 folders on the usb has 16bit files only.
There should have been 16/44, 24/48 amd 24/192 files on it, as promoted(!!), but there are 16/44, 16/48 and 16/192 only. They somehow messed up putting 24/48 and 24/192 files on there. This is an issue to be adressed.
Discs 2 - 4 folders contain the promised proper files.
my folders look correct Disc 1-4 each have 44/16, 96/24, and 192/24. Total 12 folders.

Goddammit. I keep thinking I want this more now.
do it
listening to the AFD vinyl now and i'm really happy its a quiet and flat pressing despite being done at GZ. My new Rolling Stones box was filled with surface noise issues

random thoughts:
listening to the demos now. They all sound great. They were cleaned up very nicely.
some of the sleeve photo's used for the 7" in the L&L box are pretty blurry. I wonder what the source was. Live Like a Suicide LP looks blurry too.
I might go to goodwill tomorrow to see if I can find a cheap tape deck to listen to the cassette.

right, but what i'm getting at is they allowed the KISS box to sit in a wharehouse for years instead of breaking it up like the GNR box.
