  1. If Axl announce tomorrow that he will continue touring ininterruptly for 30 years for CD, with the promise of releasing a new album exactly 30 years after now, and if he actually releases the album ON TIME, exactly 80 years old, would you continue to, from now on, coming to this forum and posting here every day? YES Would you also wait all this time patiently and anxiously, and would you be happy to hear the new album? NO Would you then comment that "the band is doing fine, they just released an album in 2008, and at least now we have a real date -- 2038. The dark ages are gonne"? NO Would you say, in 2030, "hey, man, more respect with Tommy. The guy's more than 40 years in the band! It's more time than Duff ever dreamed to be"? NO And if Slash dies in the meantime of the Chinese Democracy Infinite Tour, and Axl, to celebrate peace with his late friend, announces that he will replace DJ and Bumble with his son Blash, would you approve it? NOWould you still prefer that Slash should be the guitarist, even if he's dead? YES And if Axl, instead of releasing a new album, just end up releasing in 2030 Live Era 2, recording new vocals over the old classics (with no CD song), and then announces his retirement, would you feel betrayed? NO

Answers in bold. I do have to agree with you on the "Hey, man, more respect with Tommy." I say that all the time. "How do you like the new line-up?" I always reply "Hey, man, more respect with Tommy."

  2. Fernando Lebeis (part of Team Brazil) was asked by a follower in instagram "@flebeis @waxlrose come back to Phoenix AZ ;-)" wich he answered "flebeis: soon."

And since there is a pic of Fernando talking with Rod Mcsween in the O2.

Hope things turn out like fortus said "new album at the end of the year and go to the road again after that"

I like how the new management is keeping the band active, new site, merchandise etc etc etc... if they manage to get an album out of GnR then... they will accomplish what we all want :shades:

Feel free to merge with another thread if it doesnt deserve one.

Lol "soon." That word has a special place in the hearts of anyone who followed the Chinese Democracy saga from 1998 on.

  3. "Source?"

my friend said he saw a picture of axl with a dolphin. i have never seen it myself. has he addressed this in an interview?

    tumblr_lnj620YMPw1qbqb1do1_500.jpg

    He named it Splash

He's still got a long way to go on the "basic social etiquette."

  4. I think CD "failed" (if it did, opinions vary) because of other factors, not because of the music. I know I'm bias because I love it, but I can't see how anyone can think it's a bad album. There was a negative stigma surrounding it, and, in typical GNR fashion, it didn't get a smooth release - no videos, no tour, no press, it just shows up one day...but the music, in my opinion, is great, it's just something people wanted to hate from the get-go...

    Lol @ no press.

Anyway, I played it for a friend on the way back from a concert and she did nothing but laugh at every track. She couldn't believe hot bad TIL was, in particular. She also had a good laugh at Scraped, Shacklers and ITW. She couldn't believe Axl was singing those songs.

  5. I won't be going to see them again. I saw them in February in Orlando and I saw what I needed to see. There's probably not much that would drive me to see Axl again, outside of the obvious.

  6. I just watched the show from Stoke on HDNET last night and it was awesome! Slash played RQ, Brownstone, Patience, PC, Civil War and Nightrain along with his solo work. It was amazing to hear him play those songs again hear just how much he brings to them. Check it out if you get a chance. It first aired last Sunday.

  7. They are just warming up--the sound of the gigs and Axl's voice were fantastic! They always start adding stuff after they know they have their mix figured out, etc. I would expect Dublin is going to get a wail of a show, with a larger set-list and some different songs and maybe a few new ones added in! This UK leg with Thin Lizzy has the potential to be an epic run!

I don't ever hear of any other band doing "warm up" shows. Additionally, if these are "warm-up" shows, are fans paying a reduced price to see them warm-up? These are professionals, right? No way for them to be warmed up before the tour?

  8. Great idea!

I took a look at some old files on my computer and also found these (unfortunately, I can't find the source of the first two quotes, but maybe someone else knows where they're from?):

"(Axl)'s completely crazy... Without the other four of us around, I wouldn't even want to imagine what the fuck would go on in his head. Or his life." -- Izzy

    "Axl isn't really 24, he's a million of years... he`s seen everything." -- Izzy

"I never really knew, I guess. Just one of those things. On tour he had a real hard time finishing the sits. And he had a hard time getting onstage. So you're sitting there in the dressing room at a hockey rink and for, like, two hours the walls are vibrating while the audience is going, 'Bullshit! Bullshit!' That time goes _slow_ when you're sober. And they have to send a helicopter to the hotel to get him. He would just 'get ready,' and sometimes he would `get ready' for a long time. I don't know what goes on upstairs with him. To me it's simple. Get an alarm clock, ya know? There's a modern invention that seems to work for people. You set it, and then you wake up when you're supposed to." -- Izzy (Musician, Nov. 1992)

"We opened for him once in Long Beach during the early days. This was back when Axl used to wear those chaps with his ass hanging out and no underwear. I remember it was backstage, and Johnny Thunders said, `What are you, some kind of biker fag?' Axl goes, `I'll fuckin' kill you.' Really wanted to kick his ass. And Johnny just sat there smoking his joints and drinking his Budweisers. Great first impression." -- Izzy (Musician, Nov. 1992)

The second Izzy quote is from Guns N' Roses: In Their Own Words, I believe...

  9. Wow, can't believe how so many here tried so hard to make this public defense on CNN as "ass-kissing". In other words: people can't agree with what Axl did without being qucikly called a nutter or any idiotic shit like that. Everytime someone says nice things about Axl is like that.

And yes, Axl wanted to be there by his conditions (we don't really know exactly about this, do we?) and tried to look at this. But he also never claimed to be such a good thing - back in 2008 he even talked about the matter. From how he handled the thing before the letter, I'd say he tried to be there at the HOF cerimony because he knew there would be a backlash and because fans would demand, but that was NEVER his priority nor something so well regarded. So yes, he tried, but once he learned how dubious the whole Hall is, he gave a big fuck you to them. How could this be seen as a bad thing is beyond me.

    Really?

"I still don't exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this board decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially "rock" enough to be in the Hall?" -Axl

  10. I would agree wholeheartedly with Piers's comments if he hadn't misinterpreted some of Axl's intentions with regards to the HOF. Axl said in both his statements that he had extensive discussions with the HOF. If he was so against the HOF as an institution and what it represented then he would have declined the invitation from the outset. But he didn't. His first statement, a couple of days before the induction, stated that he didn't agree with the HOF's policy with regards to which GnR members should or shouldn't be inducted.

The bottom line is this - if Slash et al didn't turn up and Axl was allowed to have his current band mates inducted with him, he would have turned up, accepted the honour and played Madagascar. Simple as that.

Exactly. I was just going to post the same thing. "He tore up the invitation, threw it out the window...." Sure, after he and his team read it and tried to work on getting what he wanted lmfao.

  11. Plug plug plug the new album

Lol. The interview was primarily about his new album. They then asked a question about GNR. Don't see how it's a "plug" when the interview was for promo of his new album anyway. This was just a small part of a longer interview.

and talking about gnr is a large part of the plug

Slash doesn't ask himself the questions. Do you get upset when someone asks Joe Montana abiut the 49ers?

Gunsguy edit to post full thing in first post:

To: Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N' Roses Fans and everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I seriously didn't plan on or expect the overwhelmingly positive response and public support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. With such a generous outpouring of solidarity from fans, media outlets, writers and other artists, I'm truly humbled, blown away and unbelievably relieved! To be honest, I thought it would go the other way and was just hoping to weather the storm. As I said, I sincerely didn't want to disappoint anyone. It gets old being the outlaw even if "it's only rock and roll".

It took a lot of focus and soul searching to be sincere and informative while making a genuine effort to be somewhat diplomatic. We made, what I feel, are real efforts to learn about the Hall and the Board, spoke as I said with the president and various members, and though I inducted Elton John and Bernie Taupin in '94 saying something to the effect of "I'm learning what the Hall's about..."

I still don't exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this board decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially "rock" enough to be in the Hall?

This isn't an attack. These are genuine issues I don't have enough verified information on to have more than rough ideas. Certainly not enough information to make any judgments about.

I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city. I think they know how much I genuinely love performing there. Cleveland does in fact Rock!!

Now that the smoke's cleared a little, any desperate, misguided attacks have been just that, a pathetic stab at gossip, some lame vindictiveness, the usual entitlement crap, he's obsessed, crazy, volatile, a hater. I once bought a homeless woman a slice of pizza who yelled at me she wanted soup. We got her the soup. You can get your own.

Again: HUGE thanks to the fans and to everyone for the incredible public support. My congratulations to the other artists inducted. And my apologies to the city and people of Cleveland, Ohio. I hope you'll forgive me and we hope to see you again soon!

    Keep Rockin',

    Axl

Unlike my open letter to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Guns N' Roses Fans and Whom It May Concern this was written for GNR's official website, Facebook account and my personal twitter account and not intended as a press release. If anyone does choose to pick this up as has been done previously I'd appreciate if you'd run in full including this paragraph so as not to give a partial picture, have things taken out of context or to imply or inadvertently give the impression this was intended for other outlets.

    Thanks in advance. Peace-

I wonder if before Axl goes to a restaurant if he reads all the reviews he can find for it, if he learns who the owners are and where they get their food, how they came to own the restaurant, who came up with their recipes, who the head chef is and where were they trained, who those suppliers are and how they intend to spend the money he plans to give them for the meal, the names of the bar tenders and where they went to bar tending school, how do they plan to spend their tip, Does he ask if they plan to invest it back into the restaurant or blow it on a Saturday night out? What kind of work experience does the server have? Why are they working there and not at a different restaurant?

Give me a break. You had plenty of time to know what you needed to know. You and your team can find the source of leaked songs on the internet but can't figure out the RRHOF?
