Does anyone else find the leaks too convenient and too much of a coincidence to not seem intentional?

+ If I recall correctly, there was not a single song leaked that was not later played on the 2006 tour cycle (2006 leaks).

+ The various demos with band members not included in the official release is cool but what is anyone going to do with it?

+ The Brain remixes might be the best thing leaked.  I wouldn't think it would be possible to make the Chinese Democracy songs "cool" but those remixes nailed it.  What is lost by having those out there?  It's a remix?  Anybody can remix a song, right?

+ Even the 2018(?) leak of the massive collection of Chinese Democracy demos and other music (15 CDs worth).  No matter how you slice it, I'm not convinced that pre-reunion tracks and recordings have as much value now that Slash and Duff are back and working on new material.  Even the unreleased complete songs (Atlas Shrugged, Going Down, Hard School, I probably forgot some) would likely be recorded before they would release them, if at all.

I know leaks are a very sensitive topic, especially for the management of the band.  I don't know of any other band that has more leaked and in greater variety that what ends up being officially released.  So weird.

Agreed. I've always found the whole leak business to be somewhat....strange.

The fact that they started rehearsing Hardschool right after it leaked? After so many years of no activity and no new music, a new song is leaked and then rehearsed at almost the same time? Seems quite a coincidence...

  2. There's a fuckload of instrumentals, but in terms of 'complete' songs (i e. Full lyrics and vocals) the ones we have are:

Hardschool (formerly known as 'Jackie Chan')

    Perhaps

    State of Grace

    Silkworms

    Atlas Shrugged

    Going Down

    Knockin on Heaven's Door (acoustic)

Eye on You (though lyrics aren't exactly 'full')

Then there is also Oh My God from 1999, plus the This I Love remix (with new vocals)

  3. Also, what a serious lack of tact as far as timing goes. I imagine the conversation at TB HQ went something along the following lines:

Person: "Hey Fernando, turns out there's a global pandemic going on at the moment and we've got shows booked which start in two weeks. Do you think we should put something out online to let people know what the situation is and that we might have to reschedule? A lot of people spent a lot of cash on tickets after all."

Fernando: "Hey man, sounds great but i've actually just come up with this idea for a new GN'R-themed childrens' book. Now loads of people aren't having to go to work and won't be going to our shows, they'll have more time for reading, so seems like the perfect time to start selling! Think you can post about it on Facebook?"

Person: "Yeah that's cool, but about the tour, I still really think we should....."

Fernando (interrupting): "Nah man, children's book."

  4. Seriously though, what the fuck.

35 years this band has been going, with 6 studio albums to show for it. Of those, one is all covers and one is two EPs thrown together.

The reunion was their last big chance to make a real statement and make up for those lost years. And, four years later, what do we get? A children's book. As for new music, zilch.

I mean they shows were fun and everything, but this situation...words fail me.
