  1. Forum rules:

    1) Be polite and respect other members and point of views; harassment, vulgar insults and namecalling will not be tolerated
    3) Racist, homophobic and sexual posts, images, or signatures not allowed

It's already a forum rule. I'm merely asking for it to be inforced.

  2. Watchmen turned out to be what I expected. Very pretty and imaginative but a little redundant and miscasted. It's hard to deal with the fact that it's very close in spirit to the GN but at the same time fails to convey all the nuances. Maybe it really was just too dense to be boiled down into something under three hours. Of course, it could have been terrible and it's not, very far from it, but it still pales in comparison with the GN.

On that note, I'd advise people to pick up the motion comic DVD. It's the closest anyone will ever come to bringing Watchmen to life and it runs twice as long as Snyder's movie.

I'm seeing that this weekend. I hope it's good. I think with movies based on comics and books that there's always something lost in the translation into film. Very rarely is a movie as good as the book. I think you go see the movie hoping for the best, expecting the worst, and just being happy that hopefully this will open up a new audience and bring attention to the written version.

  3. I completely agree with the fact that the 'n word' is censored, however why isn't the word 'hooray for tolerance!' censored? That word is just as offensive and people throw it around here far too often, in my opinion. Agree? Disagree?

Also, if it is added to the censored words, I don't think this is a question of hindering free speech so much as common decency that some people on here fail to grasp.

  4. Aight, I'll make one for women as well:

    Etta James

    Joni Michell

    Radka Toneff

    Ella Fitzgerald

    Joss Stone

    Eva Cassidy

    Debbie Harry

    Exene Cervenka

    Aretha

    Patti Smith

    Janis Joplin

    Tammi Terrell

    Nico

björk, marnie stern, chan marshall, beth gibbons, jesca hoop, cocorosie, and joanna newsom are all favorites.

    ^_^

Gwen Stefani, Courtney Love, Shirley Manson, Lennon Murphy, Vanessa Paradis, Axl Rose, Tori Amos, Billy Corgan, Stevie Nicks, Steven Tyler

And I'm with markyboy, Melissa Etheridge and Christina are both amazing. Although all the runs Xtina does can get old fast, she still has an amazing voice. And I love the cover of Piece of My Heart that Melissa did.

  5. Marley and Me.

    Owen Wilson for the Oscar.

    It was a cute movie

The scene Owen had with the dog at the end was convincing - he had me crying like a baby anyway.

The whole theatre was crying but I manned up and bit on hand hard. I rubbed popcorn in my eyes.

Guy #1: The woman was crying next to me.

    Guy #2: So were you.

    Guy #1: Shut up.

I wish all movies were as good as Marley and Me.

I could never watch that movie. I'd bawl. I'm not a big 'cry in front of people' person. When I saw Ladder 49 everyone in the theater was crying - even the guys.

  6. I've just seen The Lion King. Great film. I think I've seen it a couple of hundred times (My little sister loved it when I was a kid, and she watched it 10 times a day) and I still love it. I'll soon see the second Lion King. The one with his daughter. I'll just go and make myself some food first. ^_^

Now I've seen Simbas Pride too. Great movies. Love them both.

You must be on a Disney kick. I don't think I've seen any Disney sequels, except for Aladdin.

Haha The Lion King is one of my favorites too. :)

I cry when Simba's father dies....

    It is so sad. :(

    I'm such a softie.

I hear ya. I find it hard to watch Dumbo. The scene with him and his mom is sad. :(

  8. Valkyrie is nothing but a 2 hour ad for Scientology.

    That didn't make any sense.

Probably because he didn't watch the movie and was talking out of his ass as per usual. Not everything Tom Cruise is in is an ad for Scientology.

  9. I just mentioned it because it tends to set 'Lenny' off, even though he's never seen a single episode. Cause he's an 'assbutt'.

Cuz i value my soul :P Honestly, Corky The Vampire Killing Cheerleader from Sweet Valley High? Ooooh, dungeons and dragons and gorgons and mormons and ugh! How can you watch that crap?!?! I dont need to try AIDS to know i aint gonna enjoy it. And The Soporanos, oooh, the serialised Godfather, now we're rockin'...as if that shit aint been stereotyped enough that we need a Mafia soap. Makes my fuckin blood itch

You don't like The Sopranos either? My God, man what's your deal? :P

Speaking of Sweet Valley High, I had that board game when I was little. Memories. I think it's still at my parent's house.
