  1. i guess Axl is just having fun touring at the moment and of course the money being generated from it couldn't hurt. But somehow i don't think Axl is interested in releasing new music any time soon. I dont get why he cant go on releasing new albums every few years like most other artists. i only wish he could be as relaxed about releasing new albums as he seems to be about touring,

  2. Estranged.

Ouch. It's really annoying when he does that "silly" voice, especially on November Rain. Here's hoping a break from touring will get his voice back. Good to see everyone having a great time, though, it's a shame India misses out on a lot of these big concerts.

yes it is. i hope they tour India again...

if i am not mistaken she is the famous movie star kangna ranawat. is it me or does it look like Axl is flirting? not that it matters but it just seems that way to me.

  3. i like it and that is enough for me. i mean what difference does it make if the album was an official hit or not. you have to be honest to yourself. if you like it you like it. if you don't you can't help it.

i mean think about Velvet Underground. who cares that their initial albums were flops? those very albums today are regarded as one of the most influential ones. being popular( and thus being hit) is not a proof of quality nor greatness.

  4. i have never heard of him. in my opinion unless you have the money to fly out to foreign destinations to see popular rock bands perform anytime you want, you are naive to miss out on an international act when they are performing in your city because the line up is not what it use to be. it is great music after all. if you are a rock fan you are not going to miss this irrespective of weather slash is playing or not.

  5. This is what I have been talking about since GNR announced they were going to be playing India. It's not like any other country in the world. There are literally no health and safety standards. Professionalism in India has very little relation to what you'd expect in the western world. I always tell my Republican friends that if you love the idea of a small, limited government, go to India and tell me how great it's working for them. I really hope for the people looking forward to these shows that Axl can handle what passes for professionalism in India. Building the stage with logs and shitty looking wood is only the tip of the iceberg.

unfortunately i agree. Given that the organizers had all the time in the world what is the explanation for such mediocrity? logs? can they really play on such a stage?

it is strange that this is happening in bangalore of all places. the city has seen successful shows by slayer, megadeath, metallica, maiden and aerosmith in the last few years. why couldn't they have prepared for guns n roses is beyond me.

I hope everything goes smoothly for the rest of the shows... to be honest i don't see the band performing on a wooden stage. Great start for the indian shows this. please get it right for the Delhi concert... Gnr coming to town is the best news i have heard in the last few months. i really need this.

  6. You say that most bands play their greatest hits...but then downplay CD songs. I'm confused.

The only greatest hits this current group of musicians have together are CD songs. And not all the current guys even played on that.

DJ and Frank and BBF and the rest of them had nothing to do with songs like jungle, scom, Nov rain, etc.

wait... i get it! you don't consider the new band to be Guns N Roses

But surely you can't deny that the greatest hits under the name Guns N' Roses are not just from the album Chinese Democracy? So what is wrong when a band called Guns N' Roses (and the significance of the lineup notwithstanding) performs songs which were released under that name?

all i know is that when i get there... my first gnr show after following the band for 14 odd years... i want them performing the classics. i mean i really dig CD and i am looking forward to hearing some of the songs live... but despite the fact that Axl is the only remaining original member i'd still want him to perform the songs written by the classic lineup.

  7. Okay, it is 99 % official now: http://www.hindustan...le1-947633.aspx

LOL at the photo they use...

the reporter probably just used google images tbh

I am from Delhi, and, HT city used another classic GNR lineup pic with the same news. I would definitely blame the reporter to not research before printing the picture, however, its hard for an average nincompoop reporter to find a GNR pic with current lineup.

As a matter of fact, there is only one official GNR pic with new lineup. Although, there are millions of fatso Axl's pics around.

As a huge GNR fanatic, I can truly say that anyone who is going to watch GNR is either expecting Slash and co. to play (naive souls), or, just going to check out Axl and him playing the classic tracks.

I love Chi Dem. But its the package of Appetite, Lies, UYI that's selling. No ones expecting a headbangin' good time listening to Silkworms.

    naive souls? okay dude.

I am quite sure most fans know Slash isn't part of the band anymore... and i dare say the (still to be confirmed) GNR show will be attended by more people than the (proposed) Slash show next year. Of course it is about the whole package and why should'nt it be? Most bands perform their greatest hits set list instead of playing any relatively new material while playing India.

Would you rather want a full setlist of only Chinese Democracy songs? I am not sure if that is what you meant.

  8. In today's interview with Tommy he confirms they are playing in India!

    What interview?

    http://activate.metroactive.com/2012/10/guns-n-roses-tommy-stinson-replacements/

Ahh right, nice. Sounds legit then

I'll still wait until I hear Team Brazil or Axl confirm it before I announce it as confirmed on A4D, but it really looks promising :D

they should confirm it already!... i have a feeling that maybe there are still some issues regarding the tour that needs to be sorted out. I think DNA is organizing this tour... and they better know that can't fuck this up like the Metallica gig last year. Among the rock n roll audience, GNR are what the people have been waiting for. Cmon!!

Might be interesting if that is a single gig or they intend to start another Asia tour?

    Three gigs so far:

    December 5: Gurgaon, India (unconfirmed)

    December 7: Mumbai, India (unconfirmed)

    December 9: Bangalore, India (unconfirmed)

Thanks did not hear about that before! Remember that Iron Maiden did a gig there a while ago; always kind of surprises me that not more bands tour a huge market like India!

Yeah, it must be out of nostalgia they keep on touring low value markets like the US while neglecting high value markets like India and Asia in general.

    that was sarcastic right?...

this has been posted a few times actually on mygnrforum. but nothing is confirmed yet.

  10. hmm it really comes down to personal preference but i'd say i would probably chose lennon because his songs makes a lot of sense to me than cobain's... but 6-7 years ago i would have said cobain.

both wrote a lot of songs that revolved around innovative riffs... so its hard to judge them guitar wise.

anyway lenny throw in ur 2 cents... who do u prefer?

  11. Being someone's muse is nice, but it doesn't pay the bills, otherwise Patti Boyd would be pretty wealthy right now (Clapton went from Layla to Wonderful Tonight, to Promises, to Bad Love)

and Something by George Harrison... the greatest love song ever :P

boy she must have been special.

  12. Think about it.

Sweet Child O' Mine, November Rain, Estranged, and This I Love were written about Erin Everly. The woman must've been really been something special to him. People harp on and on about Stephanie Seymour but she inspired TWAT....Erin was probably Axl's true love and I bet if they ever got back together we'd see SCOM II.

are you implying TWAT is a bad song? :o

personally i couldn't care less who inspired what... i mean for trivia and stuff its cool to know all that but its hardly a matter for a phd thesis.. just my opinion though :D

    dint she also inspired YCBM?
