  1. Have you tried breathing excercises to help you relax?

Start by breathing in through your nose and then exhale though your mouth.

    Do this ten times.

    It will relax you.

If your sociial phobia is due to not knowing what to say, just read one topic online in your local paper or something and start off by tallking about that to people.

I have generalized anxiety and I know what you are going through. I don't have social phobia so much but anxiety can be a pain in the ass.

yes i do that often. lately i have started taking a medicine, it keeps me calm for four hours. and sadly no if it were due to lack of knowledge i would have read the public library inside out. its not so much about talking to people.. its the fear of being negatively evaluated. it use to be quite bad actually. mostly i have ot under control. it just that starting out in a new college has made it come back.

that sucks about generalized anxiety. My brother has it (along with social phobia) and i know it can be really painful. i mean he couldn't even watch telly without being anxious. he was always up to something constructive like working late etc. never did him any good. finally he decided to quit and got help. seems to be doing better now. so :)

  2. people :nervous:

seriously though i have social phobia and it sucks... getting up every morning to get to the class full of 90 students. it hasnt even been a month and i have missed 10 of my classes already. and for extra fun this semester we have to study communication, its activity based. in the first class we had to mingle!... each one of us had to make at least 10 friends in 10 minutes.

    fuckin terrible.

  3. i feel it is important to have an education system which attempts to teach kids how to learn. back here its all about memorizing chapters. really, so what we end up with is high school graduates who cant even tell the geography and the history right .

the funny thing is, most people i have met who tend to be prejudice against others based on their religion, cast or even region are all educated. but if they were really educated they should know better right?

  4. i remember the time the 7th book came out most people were disappointed and some were suggesting that it felt like the book was rushed.

Some people were also of the opinion that the books were mainly written for kids and they probably didnt see the glaring plot holes and probably loved the book just the same,

it did feel like it was rushed. maybe she just wanted to get it over with? as for as your objection to new objects being introduced for the first time in Deathly Hollows... well that is how each book was written. each book had a plot device and that particular book revolved around it. Rowllings was merely following the traditions.

But I loved the prologue :D ... i think i read somewhere that it was the first thing she had ever written for the Harry Potter series. it really was well thought of.

Personally i liked the the 6th book the best. Flight At The Lighting Tower being my favorite chapter.

  5. Both Axl and Slash wouldn't have made it big if it weren't for Izzy in GN'R.

But isn't that common knowledge? :shrugs:

Buckethead was the most eccentric member to play in Guns N Roses. Ever. oh i wish he was still in the band. It seemed liked he was tailor-made to fill in the spot left by the Top Hat.

  6. Didn't make it to Bangalore when I was there, just Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai, Goa, and Jaisalmer. And yeah, I just can't see GNR pulling off a 3 stop tour in India. Like you mention, if they were to play India, it would be one stop, get in, get out and tour the rest of Asia/pacific. A GNR tour is already complicated and dramatic enough, I can't see how well it would mesh with the commotion of a place like India for too long. Though the idea of Axl and co. taking a train from one place to another would be something awesome to watch and hear about. LOL. Could you imagine? My bet Axl would re-write or rededicate the lyrics to Welcome to the Jungle.

or maybe touring India will have a similar effect on Axl as it did on The Beatles and he will go on to record the guns n roses White Album ;)

how long were u here for? looks like you did see a lot of Rajasthan.

  7. I wasn't suggesting that India does not get any large international acts to play, as it does. But the problems faced by the artists and promoters often have the effect of keeping many large artists away. I was in India last year and all I heard from friends of mine and strangers is how often "logistical" issues hold up concerts. Take a look at what happened when Metallica tried to play New Delhi a year or two ago. Shady promoters, corrupt officials who wouldn't give permits to change the dates, it's just one headache after another.

    http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-02-27/news-and-interviews/28638174_1_music-concert-musicians-promoters

the Metallica concert was a fiasco... i was there (and no i wasnt one of the people trashing the stage after the show got canceled). it was mismanaged from the starting... i looked at the grounds and i knew it wont happen.

that is why i doubt any band would plan a three city tour... the only city getting any international act is Bangalore... (aerosmith, maiden, metallica, megadeath etc) and it seems like they can handle the events well. last i heard you coudnt play loud music after 11 in mumbai. the reason no rock band ever goes there. i really doubt a three city tour is on the cards. if at all they ever planned to play here it will prpbly be Bangalore. one show and then they will be off. its a shame as i live in Delhi... but hey i'll travel 2000kms

  8. this song was written about a bitter break up i had. that' my story and i am sticking to it <_<

dude thanks for my first laugh of the day!

I think it's about a bad breakup. We've all had them. I doubt it was about Slash.

I think Axl tries not to think too much about Slash or every song Axl wrote would have "fuck you" in the lyrics! lol

Whoever it's about, I just love this song. It's my favorite song on CD.

yes mine too along with TWAT. i actually prefer the striped down album version rather than the early 00's.

  9. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hope Axl and co. know what they're in for by touring India. India is not like anywhere else in the world. Though they do 5-star almost better than anyone, it's not an easy place to do business. I hope they're ready for the grift by promoters and local governments. Too often have I heard stories of bands and artists wanting to play India only to shut the whole thing down due to extortion by the locals. If someone like Bryan Adams (who's an easy going Canadian) couldn't stand being swindled, I can't see how it's going to go over for someone like Axl.

yes i guess its not that easy planning to play in india. there will be certain elements in the bureaucracy who would want a piece of the pie. its a shame really.

do u care to elaborate about which bands wanted to play in india but couldnt due to "extortions by locals"?

but i would say that Bryan Adams has played here more then any other international artists (4 times i think) and he has said he really enjoys the shows...despite "not understanding how the politics in this country works"... i think he said that back in 2002.

  10. why not release a new album first and then play India? I'm sure the ppl there wouldn't be pissed about that. It wouldn't make sense to debut new material there? Fine. Then tour the USA, South America, Europe, or whereever it makes sense first, and then play shows in India.

i think that is what they are doing... they released an album then toured popular destinations a few times and now they are (hopefully) coming to India ;)

but no i know what u mean. we need new stuff. sadly i dont see it happening this year.

  11. the venues doesnt seem right. but if true then it is fantastic news . however, i will wait till its announced officially before i allow myself to get all excited.

and yes i do think they will only be performing old hits as opposed to unreleased materials... but i hope they at least play Oh My God.

  12. The post above me said everything i thought i should say but didnt.

the sikh Army Of God was meant to protect every faith... the reason they targeted the muslims (as opposed to protecting them as well)was because in those times the Muslim rule in India had become extremist under the fundamentalist emperor Arungzeb. He was forcing his own non-muslim countrymen to convert to Islam. He was one exception in an otherwise glorious Mugal rule.

  13. if you ask them to release new music (which there is apparently plenty of in the vault) you are often told that the "misguided sense of entitlement does not govern Axl's decision" but cmon already. who benefit from this lack of new music? why would a band deliberately delay the release of new albums...

"Because it might be shit" is the first explanation that springs to mind...

it seems with every tour they are getting closer to becoming the ultimate GNR cover band :tongue2:

having said that... i have never seen them live and would do anything to watch them. just hope axl does sumthing about his voice.

  14. Get ready for more of those classic Bumble tweets :book:

i think they are going to continue touring until the end if the year (based on a Fortus email).

a part of me is being rather hopeful that there is gonna be a release date announced before the next tour, whenever that might be; but then again i am reminded of the Rnr, HOB and VMA era when people thought that CD would be released any day... it took gnr nearly eight years after that to finally get CD out.

oh well as usual we will wait and see. mostly wait :shrugs:

  15. Can't really identify myself as anything... I was born in India but have lived roughly half my life in England. I've moved around a lot due to my parent's work so I've never stuck around any place long enough to identify myself as part of it's "culture". I suppose I do still retain some patriotic feelings towards India but meh... :shrugs:

*stands up and salutes and sings*

Sareh Jahan seh ucha, hindustan humaraa :D

  16. hmm but what if they dont get married to the natives? in India there are many parsi (Persians who had fled to escape persecution) families who only marry among themselves but they have been living in India for generations. According to you should they be considered Persians and not Indians? i

If they choose not to be apart of their new country, more than to live there, then yes, they would still be Persian or Iranian, whichever is more correct. They choose not to intermarry and blend in or to mix their cultures, so why shouldn't they be called something else? It's like in Sweden, up north, we have these guys that are kind of like our Indians (American Indians that is) called Sami people and they don't really have anything to do with Sweden other than that they live up there. They identify themselves as "Sami people" and they live up there by themselves. I see no reason for why they should be called Swedish.

Because they vote, represent their country in sporting events and have done their country proud over the years. why do you think it is necessary for them to mix their DNA with the local population in order to be considered a citizen? Do you see many immigrants there in Sweden?

  17. I added this part to my last post:

Edit: Not to mention that they within these generations they might mate with someone native to the country, which would make their kids half of each origin. If they do it again and again and again, it will be 25%, 12,5%, etc.

Also, America is obviously very special, as almost nobody there actually have origins from America. They all came from Europe and almost exterminated the native population and they brought slaves from Africa. It's not a very good example for what I'm trying to say. Take European countries instead.

  18. I define someone's nationality from their origin.

Most researchers agree that mankind spread out of Africa starting about 50,000 years ago,

    Read Article

going by your logic we are all Africans. i dont think it's right to define somone's nationality like that.. if someone's grand parents had migrated to America from Sweden to settle down in the early 20th centuary, would you still call him a Swedish national even if he has never been to Sweden?

I can only go by how we see things, or at least how I interpret that we see things in America. In most of America, your national origin is important, you continue the culture as much as you can within the overall American culture, and identify yourself and others as that nationality, while everyone is still American. There are some caveats to this. In the South, there is very little identifying with your national origin. Everyone is pretty much so homogeneous white people, black people, or Mexicans (which covers pretty much all Latinos/Hispanics). there are hardly any Asians in the South. Also, it seems that people who are not white or black are more likely to be identified most strongly by their family's origin than as Americans, but that's just the ethnocentrism of white people.

So, here, yes you are American, but you are also Italian, Irish, Polish, Japanese, etc.

ok i can see what you mean... but woudnt people born in America to parents from a different country be called by both nationalities? like italian-american etc? in this terminology you accept both, someone’s nationality as well as his origin and that is a totally different thing then saying that no matter where you were born and brought up if your parents were outsiders so are you.
