Had the pleasure of interviewing Tommy again. The GN'R stuff is quoted in Blabbermouth but I hope you listen to the whole thing too

Nice, I'll take a listen this weekend. Were any subjects off limits?
Nope, just the focus being the charity event so I wanted to do right by them by staying on topic for the most part. Hopefully I'll have Matt on solo again so I can ask more questions directed at him.

Recently had on Sorum, Def Leppard's Rick Allen and his wife. Mainly talking about an upcoming event, but Matt does talk "Live and Let Die," Kings of Chaos, and Hollywood Vampires. Hope you enjoy!

Creative planning, lucky breaks, and 6 hours in a bathroom allowed GNR fan Corey to sneak into Guns N' Roses' first reunion show with Slash at the Troubadour on April 1st, 2016. This is his "best story of my life."

My name is Alejandro, I'm from Argentina and I love your show, so I'd like to start by saying congrats for your great work which has led to many very interesting interviews.
That said, as a fan, and please consider this is coming from a great intended place...I'd like to know why is it that you sometimes avoid many of the usual topics we use to discuss here.
I was listening to your interview with Beavan and I was hoping you would ask so many things about Axls recording sessions, his changes in vocal style, his vocal issues, his vocal capability compared to previous years, etc.
Is is something you avoid due to contract terms??? If not, and again, considering this is coming from a fan like you that follows and appreciates your great work, maybe you could take this into account for future ocations.
Hope you get the message and specially my good intentions here.
Appreciate the kind words, Alejandro - In the first interview we do discuss the vocal recordings, how Axl warms up by doing "standup comedy" and Sam Kinison impressions. I think talking about the quality of his voice or "issues" is a lose-lose situation. Nothing to gain for Sean or myself by criticizing his voice, saying forum-like things... "not as strong" or a conversation about "rasp." I feel like it would just shine a light on a negative narrative.
I certainly don't have a contract with anyone. Many of my guests and/or their management are fearful of clickbait topics, so I try to avoid those tricky areas. Sometimes I'm too cautious, I admit. Building positive relationships with artists/labels are important to me.
That said, I should have focused more on the recordings, but our first interview it seemed like he didn't remember specifics, so I didn't think to go there. He did his homework for this one however, but in a scheduling conflict I had to get to Scott Ian on Zoom right after. I would have kept Sean on longer. I'd like to think they'll be a 3rd time

but "hey "took a break" from each other a few years before that, no? was there any other reason given for why Doug was fired other than touring issues that you know of?
According to Doug, while being phased out by Merck and Yoda, Doug was having issues at home, wanted to manage from Hawaii much like Alice Cooper's manager. Axl said no, wanted him around, then Doug quit to be with his kids. Also touring issues were the product of taking the blame rather than put it on Axl.

Why was Zutaut fired? Never heard the real reasons for that, same as for Goldstein.
Doug says he quit in 2004.

Spoke to Sean more about Robin Finck and songs he worked on for Chinese Democracy.
Scott Ian talks Axl/DC and that 2006 Eddie Trunk interview.
And as per usual we talk what they're doing now before GNR stuff. Hope you enjoy!

Doug Goldstien can read? Brando you had to know this guy was a fucking fruit loop.
Everything seemed fine, just that agency guy fucked the whole thing up. Tells me that you're not supposed to write the whole book first, just send in chapters to be approved. Gtfo, I write how I write.

@Gambit83 I think it's a good thing , I mean does anyone actually trust the guy, let alone like him?
I think he says what he thinks people want to hear and any truths would be highly embellished.
He always came across as a bit of a chancer IMO.
the article that was posted above is one of the things that bothered me....never did he mention that his mom drank, yet we spent countless hours talking about his family. How can I do my job if he's not being fully transparent? And to waste the story for a nothing article rather than save it for the book? Oh well.

Funny thing, I called Alan Niven for advice. Not for a Doug-bashing convo, which it wasn't, but more of like...here's what happened with the book and what Doug said in the book, curious if they're true...
Alan for one validated my feelings toward the agency, laughed at the fact that I was given deadlines without being paid. As for Doug, it meant a lot for Alan to say, "don't do the podcast angry." He could have gone all-in and pushed me to be angry at Doug, but he didn't. And as for Doug's stories about Alan, according to Alan, they're all made up. Then of course Doug says all of Alan's stories are made up. Makes me feel for Mick Wall who had the task of finding the truth in it all.
Disappointed overall of course but was causing me stress without any help, so a bit of a weight has been lifted.

I was about to ask that, it existed with full lyrics and title already in 85people will say anything for clout
It would be an odd thing to lie about. Perhaps WASP was touring with that song title before it was released in 86?

Recently it was announced that Iranian singer Azam Ali is making a full-length album with Buckethead. You may know her from Bucket's album Enter the Chicken where she sang on a track with Serj from System of a Down. She tells a great story of first meeting Bucket in the 90s without his mask and just cool info about him overall. Azam actually asked Bucket to come on my podcast but he's still not doing interviews....he did text her during which was funny. Hope you enjoy!

this one too. Great GN'R story about the early days in Alabama to lead the ep.

New eps featuring Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake/Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Also, Doug is back in music, as a consultant. He'll be on more eps coming up with more acts he's working with now. This one features Railrod that opened for GNR in Mexico a few years ago.

As a Skid Row fan I was happy to see that you had Rachel on your podcast!! And well done that you didn’t mention Bach. He would have been quite annoyed by that. Did you know that Snake managed Duff for several years? There are some Gnr/Skid Row connections 😊 Looking forward to the new album!! Erik is a great singer and frontman
I did not know that!
