The vinyl is delayed until December earliest.
Be patient and don't die.

Strange logic to meet one or two of a nationality, get along with them and assume everyone else in their country are 'nice people'. Don't meet Nigel Farage. He's a right cunt and it'll mean you find all English people cunts.
Anyway, since you can afford to hire Brazilian maids and chauffeurs (even if it does take you a while to find out they are from Brazil) could you lend us a few notes? I'm not as rich as you and Axl.
Work hard.

You know generalising all Brazilians as 'nice people' is a bit, well, racist, right?
It's as ridiculous as saying all Brazilians are awful people.
Very magnanimous of you to give your maid gifts from time to time though. What does the butler and chaffeur get? Nothing until you 'work out' what nationality they are?
Yes, of course. I'm so racist I found all norwegians I met to be nice people when I went to Oslo & Bergen Gn'R gigs 13 years ago. I have a nasty, and very racist, habit to think some foreigners are so nice. Damn I have to work on myself, thank you. Oh and yes, I love my "chaffeur". She used to be in the Fantastic Four. Now, she's all mine. Only problem is I can't see her very well and I think I may be very racist for thinking she's nice. Thanks for that real review of me and reality check.

Maybe not...but I think there's one or two or fifteen Bra$ilians that might....
You know, I share a common point with Axl. It took me a long time to realize it, but my maid is brazilian. I took care of his son several times and give her gifts for him from time to time.
They're among the nicest people I know.
If anything, Beta and Fernando clearly are very nice people who took care of a lot of things and hadn't they been here, I don't think there'd be anything regarding Guns as of now. Axl may have auto-destroyed himself. You should thank them instead of small cheap attacks like this.
This vinyl is partly for the money, for everyone involved, maybe. So what? They all deserve it. And I doubt it'll be a big source of income.

You did take all of those pictures at the same time given the light is consistent between all 3 pics. But this song is not supposed to release on CD, yet, or as a standalone. Doesn't look like it's a promo cd either, they don't look like this. This object makes no sense. And the case looks old.
Still, let's test you: describe the music of The General and some of the lyrics. What's the length of the song?

Last update I got, UMG didn't notify this big streaming platform, at all, so I think nothing tomorrow. Unless directly from Guns Youtube channel but I doubt it.
Wanna thanks all those persons I don't know in this company, except for my friend, they sure searched and asked questions haha. I bet it will drive them mad too, now they know about it

I might have to eat my words. I was sure this would be a digital release like the other three singles. It would be weird to have it come out on vinyl before streaming, so maybe it is vinyl- exclusive. Bizarre
I'm sure it will get a digital release, I don't see how it could not. But it very probably won't be today (midnight I mean) and small chances tomorrow.
From what I'm understanding, given there's not schedule (yet) for a such a big streaming service, whoever decided to throw the General on this vinyl hopes this song will make hardcore fans buy the vinyl, and they'll choose when to release the digital version later. It may not even be just for the money but just because it's obscure and fun.
But who knows, maybe Fernando will update Guns Youtube channel tonight at midnight.
Anyway I think they achieved their goal, hardcore fans are all over this thread ; )
-
Ok so out of 5 people, no one has a clue what this song is in this big streaming company, The General is not on their schedule nor catalog. They know Perhaps, they had been informed, but know nothing about The General & its release. They had never heard of the title. They did have a clear schedule for a live, a remix and an edit of Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift on October 18th, my friend showed me this past schedule as an example from last week.
There's a semi-good news though, I asked him "even if it's not on the catalog/shedule and no one knows, if they receive the song tonight, can they release it at midnight?" and he said yes.
But he doubts it will happen, things don't work in such a small time frame normally, they do have a clear schedule, 12/24 hours in advance at least. He's also been very surprised when I explained him The General will be released on a b-side, on a vinyl, tomorrow. He doesn't understand how they don't have any info/anything for a digital release for such a huge band when there's a physical release tomorrow, apparently (meaning it should already have been shipped today or yesterday to people who pre-ordered to make sure they get it on release day). He thinks it doesn't smell good and doubts the vinyl releases tomorrow either, or it would be something he's not seen for a while. Normally every physical release is timed with a digital release. Has been for years. Digital even comes before physical most of the time. Or maybe they'll be given the song late tonight/early tomorrow to make things coincide with the vinyl release.
I do find this situation very funny though. Funny people working in this big streaming service (one of the biggest) know less about this particular song than we do, funny Guns management works as it always does, and this thread makes me laugh a lot (but I'm not trolling I promise). Let's hope the vinyl releases tomorrow at least. If not well, there'll be even more things to say about this song in the future.

I think we'll have to wait for a bit longer. I actually do have a friend who works for a big music streaming company, I asked him if The General will be released tomorrow, he doesn't have access to the servers as he's on vacation, but he's asked several of his co-workers for me. So far one of his co-workers answered "as soon as the major delivers the song to us", and another said "I can't predict the future, I assume it's a future release?". They don't even know what this song is. It appears they don't have the song in private on their servers yet nor do they have a release date or heard anything about it. Will have to wait for more answers, maybe someone knows in the publishing service.
I doubt it's scheduled for a digital release tomorrow considering there's no information for this song on their schedule for tonight or tomorrow.
Sorry for the bad news, will keep you guys updated if I have anything new.

Maybe Axl cares less, because he has the golden mixes with Buckethead and Robin slated for a special release, or just for his own personal enjoyment.
On the contrary, it must be refreshing, interesting and liberating. He's known those songs & previous versions/mixes by heart for years. And for years he must have wondered "how would Slash tackle this solo?". Now he has the answer and it brings a new touch. It's also a bridge between old Guns, NuGuns & this last lineup. I think he's proud he held on for so long. Plus it makes most people happy, you can't go wrong with that.
Purists will continue to think Bucket was the best guitarist Guns ever had (I think so too) and hope we'll get all versions/mixes (with Axl vocals) at some point. But most people prefer when Slash plays, no matter how complex the solo was originally. Axl may even prefer Slash's style & tone, who knows?
Like Axl said at some point, I'm paraphrasing, but it's like with NBA & football. Some people may prefer a certain team/line-up, specific players.
I'm just very happy we get to hear The General soon. I'll appreciate this song more than any other, even if it sucks. I've waited over a decade for this. I hope we'll hear the original at some point.
I can't take anything away from this current line-up, the show in Paris this summer was absolutely amazing.
Can't thank Axl enough but I've already thanked him in person. I'm sure he's okay with whatever Slash does. Happy for them ; )

Rogan adds nothing to the experience and even detracts from it sometimes, but it can still be fulfilling if the guest is motivated to talk as much as possible and is passionate about what they're discussing.
However, if there's any hint of hesitancy or unwillingness to dive into certain subjects, it's useless. Joe Rogan just isn't the type of interviewer that can make a nervous guest comfortable. Axl is not a good fit for that environment imo. Axl has too many sensitive subjects that Rogan will obliviously bumble into, and he comes off a little insulting sometimes which would make Axl shut down more. I also think that if politics get brought up, it would get a little awkward because of how much those two differ as far as political leanings are concerned.
I want Axl to be interviewed by Marc Maron or Conan O'Brien, people who actually know what a real interview is and how to handle serious topics.
Wow I'm surprised to read so many negative comments towards Joe Rogan on a Gn'R forum, especially this one.
Joe does make nervous guests comfortable. The best example is Bob Lazar, I think it's one of his most watched podcasts. Bob had a migraine that day, was very nervous, but Joe was extremely patient and understanding. This is one of my favorite podcasts, ever.
It depends of guests of course, there are some guests Joe likes better than others. I bet he'll be on his A-Game if he has Axl on the show, he's a huge fan.
Also, he sometimes has dinner with his guest(s) the day before they record the podcast, which make the guests even more comfortable, and they can establish what they will talk about.
Contrary to some posts I've read, Joe works like a madman on his interviews. I understand some people dislike his political views, but you can't say he adds nothing or doesn't prepare his interviews. He drives
the interviews!
It's not just a conversation. He has an incredible memory, he sometimes quotes very technical articles just by memory, without a script. He's a lot more precise than people realize.
He invites people whatever their political views are, it's not a echo chamber.
He clearly prepares his questions & the general structure of the conversation, asks his assistant Jamie to background check a lot of stuff (even during the podcast) and depending of the flow of the conversation, he adapts. Sometimes it goes in unexpected territories, but most of the time it's grounded.
It's way harder than people think. The way Joe conducts those podcasts during 2, 3, sometimes 4 hours, leading some guests to talk about topics they've never talked about before, or not
as precisely, is remarkable.
It's not always perfect, sometimes Joe goes "crazy" (when he's high), it's like a rock show. But he's the best at what he does, to my knowledge. There are other talented podcasters, but
they don't quite have it. Lex Fridman for example, is a very bright guy, he's taken a lot from Joe, but he doesn't have his flow, and he's a bit "boring" (without being harsh, he's a great guy and I'm
sure he'll improve over time).
Now I don't know if it would work between Joe & Axl, I don't know whether they'll have chemistry. But they're both incredible in their respective field. I think it would be the best interview of Axl we've had,
if Axl feels comfortable. The interview with Steven Tyler was great.
I'm not sure Joe is stuck in a particular political party, especially considering the amount of democrat friends he has or invites on the show. He's not woke, but I don't feel he's a die hard republican.
The real problem lies with the audience. I'm pretty sure Joe is very embarrassed by some racist extremists in his audience, but what can he do about it?
His only option would be to betray what he thinks on some topics, and to adopt a more "woke" attitude.
But even if he did that, like Axl has (remember Axl wasn't always so woke): Axl also has a lot of fans whose political views may horrify him. You can't control your audience.
And everything doesn't have to be political. I'm sure Joe & Axl could talk for hours without mentioning politics. They could just talk about music, the state of music in general with streaming, the state of rock n' roll and how it's slowly dying, or how Axl has struggled to maintain Guns N' Roses for years without Slash & Duff. There are a lot of things to discuss regarding Guns N' Roses & music. When Axl did interviews in the 80's/90's, I don't remember him discussing politics. Only music. In fact I remember an interview when Axl said he didn't want to become a political organization like Iron Maiden. Kind of forgot, I think he was drinking a soda.
Anyway, I hope this podcast happens, it would be amazing, as a fan of both men.

Review: it was absolutely incredible.
I wasn't sure I was going to the gig tonight. Decided at the last moment because so many problems in my life.
Just: There Was A Time + Prostitute. + Coma. Has this ever happened?
And Axl sang perfectly on those. He sang with fucking passion. I remember asking Bumblefoot to play TWAT 13 years ago and he told me "ask Axl". And I was too shy to ask Axl.
Despite all the shit I'm going through, those songs alone were worth it.
The band is extremely tight, everyone is playing his part perfectly.
Axl sounds much better in person than in YT videos, as usual.
And he's just graceful. You have to be there to understand. He is out of this world.
Again the band is great. I just feel Richard could be offered a better spotlight, I miss his Bond theme. He's an amazing guitar player.
They begun at 8 pm, I can't believe it.I have absolutely no complaint, tonight was just crazy.
Thank you Axl, because you're the one who held on all along.
My father has a cancer, he's been hospitalized two weeks ago, his right foot has been left paralyzed. Permanently. It's very hard to process.
And my cat has a few more weeks to live. Tumor. On the rib. Impossible to get rid of.
In short I'm going through the worst period of my life. It's the worst fucking year for me.
So attending such a great gig was soothing. You have to appreciate every single moment. Thank you Axl.

That said, Im surprised you say Axl sounded good on TWAT....man, for the exception of that powqerful scream...he just sucks...if he wasnt Axl and you listened to this performance (first part up to the solo) from an unknown singer...you would surely think its embarrasing and nothing to do with a profesional singer....
Come on guys...he sounds atrocious on the verses of TWAT
He has always struggled with TWAT. He nailed a lot of the high notes. I've heard a lot worse in the previous years.
I take in consideration several things when listening to this band as of 2023: their age, what they sounded like 2 years ago, 10 years ago, 30 years ago...
Axl isn't 30 anymore, nor is he 45. He's aged, but he's sounded a lot worse than here (not just TWAT). But I have to take his age into account, you wouldn't expect Michael Jordan to play basketball as good as in the 80's or 90's.
If I didn't know him, sure I'd be more critical. Of course I take in consideration he's Axl the legendary frontman, an older version of this legend. I'm not blinded by the fact he's Axl though.
In 2020, I was very disappointed but told myself "it's age, it happens". He's improved a lot since then.
I also take in consideration GN'R catalogue which is incredibly hard to sing. I absolutely can't sing those songs, I appreciate how hard they are to tackle.
You could argue Steven Tyler is older than Axl and masters his catalogue better. I'd argue Guns songs are generally harder to sing than Aerosmith songs. Though Aerosmith doesn't have the easiest catalogue either.
But it's true Steven Tyler's voice has aged better.
If we compare someone like Myles Kennedy to Axl, would you say he sings the same Guns songs better? I could admit Myles sings "better", in a more conventional way, but his voice doesn't interest me.
He doesn't have Axl's signature voice, nor does he have his attitude.
Also, Axl went through hell to maintain Guns N' Roses alive for all this time. I'll always respect him for this.
And I could name singers who have really turned to utter garbage like Vince Neil. I'm happy not to be a diehard Mötley fan. Axl has aged much better, let's not confuse everything.
He doesn't "suck". He isn't as young as he used to be, but he's still showing effort & passion. It's not perfect, but for me, it's good.
Of course I'd rather have Axl sound exactly like 2010 or 1993, but hey, we all age. Still, he sounds better than in 2017-2022, so that's nice to note.
I saw Guns 4 times in 2010, it was amazing. Now we're all 13 years older, I'll enjoy the show for what it is and have a nice time. Sorry you didn't enjoy your time as much mate.

Thanks for the pics & videos. I've looked at some particular songs on Youtube to decide whether I'll go to the Paris show or not. And now I'm convinced they
deserve the money & time.
As always, what makes or breaks the show for me is Axl's performance, and I'm very, very pleased with what I'm seeing & hearing.
Axl was at his lowest point ever in 2020, I honestly thought he was completely done. Completely out of shape, couldn't sing properly, I stopped following, it made me sad.
But he's clearly made a huge come back, not only for himself but for his audience. I saw some good signs in the last 2 years, but he's really improved a lot in the last year.
Not the first time he's come back like this, but at his age, it's incredible.
He's in the best shape he's been since probably 2006, he looks very healthy & fit. I hope he continues on this path, it's great to see him like this as a long time fan.
He's also improved his ways of singing. He compensates the lack of vocal capabilities on some very technical song by expertise, he knows his limits.
He sounds amazing on some songs I've heard. He's really good on There was a time, which is a song he's always struggled with, I really like his new approach. I
really hope he sings this particular song in Paris.
It's great they picked songs that matches his lower voice better, like Down on the Farm, Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obsession... He masters those. I think I said that last year,
but they should've picked songs that match Axl's lower voice much sooner since his higher range is harder to sing, even though I'm not a fan of Bad Obsession for example, I prefer hearing Axl doing a song I don't particularly love justice, than butchering a song I adore completely. It's better for
him & better for the audience, to pick songs he masters & sings perfectly.
That doesn't prevent some occasional surprises like There Was A Time which is extremely demanding, especially when he does the song justice. Not saying it's perfect, but it's good.
I still think he should drop Hard Skool, as much as I love the song. It's clear he does the best he can, but I don't know if anyone actually enjoys the song live, the way it's
sung as of now. I'm sure he must tell hismelf "why did I record this song like this to begin with, it's impossible to sing", even worse than what he said on You Could Be Mine back in the day ahah.
But since it's part of GNR "new" material, I guess it's a dilemma.
Perhaps would be a much better fit for his voice.
Overall, I'm just so happy to see Axl in this shape & hearing him sing that well. Might be his best performance overall since 2016 with the Axl/DC tour.
It's clearly not up to 2010 level, but I'm not expecting it. But who knows, Axl clearly has a will superior to the average person.
The rest of the band is great, I don't want to be harsh on Frank like some people are on this board. He's a loyal & solid drummer, been there for a while, I'm happy for him.
Axl is very loyal too, I don't see him firing him.
As for Slash, I've said this several times: he doesn't master CD songs. I don't think he hates them, it's just beyond his league. Anybody knowing guitar knew
this before Slash came back in the band, I never pictured him being able to play Chinese Democracy solos properly.
There are two guitar players we know that could handle these solos perfectly: Buckethead and Bumblefoot. Ideal choice would be Bucket, but he's too impossible
to tame apparently. It would be amazing to offer Ron Thal a spot in this line-up, though I get with that many players in the band, dividing the "loot" as Izzy called it,
would be a problem.
Richard could also play those solos better, but I guess it's an image problem. Slash must be the lead on most songs because that's what the global audience expects.
Slash sounds great on his own material though, so it's not that bad. He's still a legendary player.
Again, thanks for the material you've been sharing guys, and seeing this band soon will make me happy. Have a great day.

"all white all male headliners" - WHAT A LOAD OF BULLSHIT!
As if they need to offer an excuse for booking white male musicians!
GNR has a female member right there on stage. Perhaps Melissa is not black enough for them and both Slash and Frank are not female enough to be counting as "worthy" by Glastonbury standards? Biggest pile of political bullshit ever coming a festival not poor of political bullshit.
Axl should open with One In A Million and have Elton join in on piano - just because.
What do they want at Glastonbury - good music or the "right" boxes ticked with a transgender gay black "person" performing communist anthems on a broomstick made of eco friendly unicorn ivory? God I hate fucking England.
It's not just England, it's the occidental world in general. You often don't hire people because of their skills but because of whatever fits the smarter than me agenda. That's why most movies & tv shows are mediocre nowadays. Wrong cast, wrong director, wrong characters, wrong everything so it will please some very vocal extremists on Twitter & in the media. Most artists shut up about it because they're afraid of being canceled. This world reminds me of an old South Park episode where there's a drawing with a hanged man.
It's not that big of a deal anyway because most women are still the same, the world is still the same, nothing's really changed. You can't go against nature. It just sucks for culture, it's also disappointing that most artists I admired are acting like cowards and have no balls, but we're lucky to have access to everything that's been released until now from past decades so easily. It's great to watch old movies from the 50's, 60's, 70's, listening to all those great musics from those eras. This decade has been disappointing but I'm sure it will get better at some point.
This smarter than me mentality will disappear eventually, it's just utter nonsense and laughable. It's great Guns are headlining Glastonbury, it also shows most modern artists haven't had an impact similar to Guns, I hope it motivates artists to produce better music.

really positive review, I like this part: Make no mistake: the singer spent years driving this band’s hard-earned reputation into the ground.
It's a positive review but whoever wrote this doesn't what they're talking about. Everything he loved about the show he saw was far superior (understatement) in 2010. Slash & Duff presence aren't enough. I won't change my mind on this, this band was at its best, live, in 2010 (since the 90's), and it's been slowly deteriorating. It's still amazing to me some Guns fans are just happy to see Axl, Slash & Duff, even if it doesn't sound too good on half of the setlist (whether it's Slash butchering the CD songs or Axl unable to sing the hardest songs properly), and those same fans ignored or shat on the CD lineups when the live shows were much, much, much better.
I know Axl is trying his best, and I'm happy they're all enjoying themselves, but at this point I'd just enjoy new/unheard material much more. I don't think I'm seeing them live again, unless they change their approach completely. Quality over quantity.

Sorry I'm confused about one thing: the Ritz 1991 concert is the only one that's included in this boxset in video format?
I was under the impression Las Vegas 1992 was also included in video, not just audio but can't find a teaser.

Perspective.
The audience is the winner on this one. We got to hear Axl tackle the AC/DC catalogue and he was amazing at it, and Brian performed with Muse, and he was amazing.

Funny interview. I guess we still have to thank him for his involvment back in the day, so I'm not gonna be too harsh. It's his point of view, why not.
I just can't quite understand how he got that far in the music industry with such mediocre tastes. Doesn't mention UYI best track (Coma, by far), thinks Chinese shouldn't have been released, and the funniest part: dares saying CD tracks are better live thanks to Slash!
Yeah, no. Respect to Slash for his career & skills, but he ruins every single CD song. It's just not for him. Witnessed it live, got to compare with the previous lineup, and Bumblefoot was doing it right. Slash does not.
I can't tell if it's just bitterness at this point or just mediocre average tastes. Funny nonetheless. No wonder he didn't hear from Axl ever again.

I mean if we are strategically looking at this from a “what if…” perspective where you are financially trying to save this thing, while also having a little fun with it;
cancel tomorrows gig, sure, start having Frank and 4tus learn VR stuff, fly Myles out literally tomorrow and have a fucking mini VR reunion set for the next 5 shows. Setlist half VR half GNR hits. Tell me you wouldn’t have at least SOME interest from people.
tell me right now with the current state of this band endlessly touring the same shit over and over, the Euro fan base wouldn’t be like, oh shit lets go see what this is about. I gaurentee you with how professional Myles is, it would be less of a trainwreck then the current state of the band. And the band themselves could save the day. Don’t call it GNR. Give a refund if people want it. Whatever. Its weird times we’re living in, which call for weird answers to things.
we all know they will stay on the safe side though. At the end of the day I only forsee more dates getting cancelled and “rescheduled” than not
As much as I respect Myles, he looks like a nice guy... he's the most boring frontman ever to me and I can't stand his voice on GN'R & VR songs, especially Guns. I struggled not to leave when I saw Myles & Slash years ago.
The only replacement I would accept for Axl for a short time would be Steven Tyler. I doubt he could cope with most of the GN'R catalogue but it could be interesting. Half Aerosmith, half GN'R setlist, now that would get me interested.
Not related to your post, but about the guy who's complaining that he lost thousands of dollars on twitter because of Guns cancelling: you play, you lose. I made a trip to Norway once to see Guns & it crossed my mind the shows could be cancelled, who knows, so I had planned to visit some places in worst case scenario. It's beyond me some people travel far from home just to see a show. It's also a time to get in touch with the country's culture. Otherwise just wait til they come near your city.

"The General" is officially delayed... but "The General" AND "Monsters" is (unofficially) out of the bag
in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Posted
The digital release still isn't planned as of today. Still nothing showing up. If one of the biggest streaming platforms don't know this song (the general) and have never been informed about it, I suppose it's the same for any streaming platform.
The only persons who know and have the song are in GNR camp. They must have known for at least days the vinyl would be delayed. That's why it didn't leak, no one has the vinyl anywhere in any warehouse, it may not have been produced at all yet. We would have seen a pic of the vinyl at the very least.
I'm not expecting the new December 8th release date to be accurate, there must be a bigger problem than just production problem regarding vinyls.
I think the problem is the song itself. This song has a special place/mythology, it's supposed to be a big one, not just a b-side. Axl must have a change of heart. If the vinyl does release, I'm expecting the General to be swapped by something else. Not expecting anything now and I'm fine with it.
