  1. Overrated song by some fans on this board. It is a good song, but not a "great" song. Not a song that will top the charts. Everything that is topping the charts right now, or everything that is running MTV is all a different dynamic, "verse-chorus, verse-chorus, bridge/solo, verse-chorus"

The Blues kinda bounces around a bit and is a long song, almost too long of a song for a huge mainstream audience to pay attention to. It is a good song, but not a song that grabs people.

No, it's not the new November Rain

I don't think it can be considered overrated. Don't forget that many of us are nostalgic of a certain kind of music and as it seems, THE BLUES tends to fit this lack of good music. (for me, same for Madagascar)

I do not consider it a new NovemberRain at all for example but I think it can have a good impact.

You're rigtht that it can be seen as a long song but hell, there's a place for all in this world and I wouldn't want it to be shorter, to be honest I sometimes would like it to be longer.

I guess the band has chosen another kind of song for the new single so I won't try to make bets here.

When I say it is has been overrated, I am refering to the way that people think if it comes on the radio, GNR will be back at it's '91 strength; that everyone, everywhere will love it. That's the way some fans hype it. Chinese Democracy the song too. There is hype on these boards that CD will change the world. That is what I am refering to as overrated. Unrealistic expectations.

It can have an impact but it is a depressive song and to release a single like that too soon when you are a band again trying to rise again can be a huge mistake. Guns N Roses was a rock band and they rocked, thats what people remember. To remind em you are back is to rock your way back. Madagascar and The Blues arent the way to go IMO.

That's a bit why I said The Blues is for nostalgic of a certain kind of music.

I think people thinking that CD will change the face of the world are fully wrong but also it's a CD that they've been waiting for a long time so it's kind of normal. I don't blame them although I don't share this point of view.

To be honest I couldn't say what kind of song I'd like to hear as a new single: I'm both OK for ballad or a rocker song since GNR is know for both. I think die hard would go for the rocker but general public would go for a slower song. I couldn't say for myself since I'll buy the CD anyway.

    On topic:

I like the new intro more than the 01 version, but as for the voice, both are OK to me.

  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZGaDSYNNiw

What happened to him? Seriously - he used to be the coolest guy ever, the greatest stage presence of anyone I've seen in my life.

But look at that video - he's dancing like..well, like a white guy with no rhythm who somehow got lost and ended up at a taping of Soul Train and is trying to imitate all the black people.

    What happened to you, Axl?

To be honest I watched the video just to see if any part of your claim was somehow based on something but after watching it I just have this to say:

    YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE :)

Axl's dancing is fine, are you some kind of frustrated guy?

This way of dancing is cool, not structured at all and really natural. If you look at more shows from the past that's what you'll see: "natural moves"

    He didn't change at all.

Sorry to have said you're an asshole but I was reading the board for a while and all I see is "Axl should do this, Axl should do that" and now you with "Axl's dancing is embarrassing" and putting it in caps furthermore, man just give us all a break ...

To be honest: go fuck yourself with your cheap criticism, they don't mean a thing.

    AMEN.

  4. :o

What? Revesokken didn't pay the rent????????

    Oh my God!!!

    yah...

that, and he kept coming out, and get dry humping his girl-friends leg...

Axl said it was funny at first, but..once you start riding my leg Revesokken..

    then, your outta here.. :chef:

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you wrote  , I'm not english native and I don't catch what you meant. Hope it was funny though!

  5. The fact that this band just finished a very successful tour yet people are looking for the worst performance speaks volumes about this place.........they rocked and they rocked fucking hard...end of story for me rock3

    Well said GOAB!

    Same here..

People remind me of this type of couple in which everything's fine while they spend time together and suddenly when one of the two has to leave for a while, then the remaining one starts criticizing on and on...I think it's just a way to avoid admitting they already miss the other, in our case, they already miss GNR on tour!

¡Que novia se ha hechado el Axl! :P

From what I heard, there weren't bad gigs, there less good than others.

  6. People dont admit those new ones are talented....

And its axl who greates the melodies...Every hit of gnr is Axl songs

loads of people, myself included know the new ones are talented

as for the rest of your post

    i won't bother saying, i can see you're impossible

    agreed..

    fully..

    and,

what the fuck is that 2nd part..

"And its axl who greates the melodies...Every hit of gnr is Axl songs."

    dude..

    Axl called..

He said please tell Revesokken to get out of my ass..

    :o

What? Revesokken didn't pay the rent????????

    Oh my God!!!

Well, I know this topic is a bit lame, I never start a topic, but since I've been a Gn'R fan, all I hear and read about Axl is: he's an arsehole, he should go to prison for live and give all the bands' rights to Slash, he's the reason why one of the biggest R&R bands split up. I didn't really care at the beginning (i've just enjoyed the music), but it started to piss me off lately. I mean, he may not be the nicest guy on earth but you can't deny that he's as talented as a singer as Slash is with his guitar. It's always Axl vs. Slash and usually the credits go to Slash. I shouldn't care, people have different opinions, but everytime I read a review about a concert of this tour, I read what is more a comparison of old guns - new guns. For example (it's an article about the Download festival in the "Play" magazine):

"Which leads me nicely to the latest incarnation of Guns N' Roses. It all starts so well, on stage early and the one-two-three punch of 'Welcome to the Jungle', 'It's so easy' and 'Mr. Brownstone', but it soon becomes apparent that this show will be molested into farce. Half an hour in, Axl throws a wobbler, storming off sighting technical difficulties, whilst cries of 'We want Slash' ring out as A N Other engages in a guitar solo so boring that a trip to the portaloo with your Sunday papers is preferable to watching this impostor(!) arpeggiate his way to the rock hall of shame. Christina Aguilera? C'mon mate, you are at Donington and you are taking the piss. Eventually Axl returns, some guy that plays the bass and is not Duff threatens to go home if he gets hit with another bottle and with a positively lunar atmosphere the band play on. Even the introduction of Izzy Stradlin and the motor-mouthed Seb Bach latterly in the set fail to recapture the magic. A finale of 'Paradise City' lifts morale on the trudge back to the campsite, but after three days of exemplary metal it is clear how out of touch Axl has become."

It's obviously one fuckhead playing intelligent, this article isn't objective at all, but I've just read another one from my country, it isn't much better, they see Gn'R as a joke, something like Axl Rose & support band. When will this shit stop? I don't know if after releasing the CD and touring things will be better. I mean, there are, of course, positive reviews, but compared to this crap, it doesn't even count. No, I don't give a shit about the media & press, I know they've always presented Axl as the "badass rock n' roller" BUT then I read on other Gn'R or Music forums the same crap. People DO believe Axl is a motherf***er who should leave the band. It makes me laugh sometimes; other times it makes me wonder: what did this guy do to them? They hate him more than the 9/11 terrorists.

I just wanted to know what you people think about this.

I think it's called an opinion and it's what makes people individuals rather than singularly-minded conformists.

Meet someone who doesn't like Axl? Great. He doesn't like Axl. So what? If you're a fan that's all that matters. If you want everyone to love Axl then I suggest you start a new political regime and practice some form of fascism, because that's the only way it's going to happen. I like Axl - that's enough for me. I don't give a shit about what the majority says or thinks. "Out of touch" with modern metal? Good. Modern metal sucks in my opinion. I'd rather hear GN'R with a mediocre guitarist like BBF than hear shitty metal like AX7. On their worst day with average bandmembers and weak vocals GN'R is still 99% better than any other modern rock band.

    That's my opinion.

    Followed.

  7. TWAT analysis

    Ok tight intro

"Broken glass and cigarettes" - bad ass lyrics.

Perfect blending of hip hop beats and a solo effect.

It's already taking off and Axl's are weaving out the story so well.

By the second break we are ready for the first solo and that cool acoustic background strumming.

This is a proper song, the solos take the song forward.

    Cue the uplifting Chorus.

    There was a time

Didin't want to know it all

    Yeah there was a time

Didnt want to know it all

still don't dont wanna know it all"

    Kick ass.

The song is really kicking ass now. Axl has stepped it up, cue solo coda.

Solo is going epic as Axl is really nailing this shit, now theres choir coming in.

    Outro mimics intro. Total classic.

No gay sighing or wanky guitar solos all in under 6 minutes. Felt like 3 minutes. Whereas Nov Rain comes in 10 minutes and has no good lyrics or solos and doesnt build up, just wanders around and then changes its mind.

I read the thread and it's ok to have any opinion in my books but there is something you seem to forget when it's about lyrics. NR was written as A. Rose was almost a teenager and TWAT when he was an adult. Maybe you should bear that into consideration before you criticized too much.

As a teenage these lyrics do not sound "cheesy" they're felt and correspond to the special state o'mind you're in at that age.

As for TWAT, you necessarily write this kind of stuff when you're balls have been kicked out of somebody's.... sorry... I'm being too graphic here... but you get the idea.

as for the music, I do not consider TWAT better that NR nor the opposite, I do hear them both as songs with great potential, for NR, we already know, so let's see for TWAT.

When I play the instrumental I have, I do love it.

As for the melody, there are things I don't like whereas in NR I love each part.

    Did that mean anything? :xmassrudolph:

Agreed that TWAT is better than NR, but Fall to Pieces is better than both.

Not really in my books...the melody in fall to pieces isn't that catchy for me.

But let's not make a VR vs GNR here pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!

hehe..start dreaming buddy :P nothing beats NR ;)

    NO!!! :P nothing beats Estranged.

  8. Interestingly, Bach was turned down for the lead singer of VR.

Yes, Bach was turned down. Thank God. Hope he's happy in his new role as another one of Axl's yes-men.

infamous encounters where Sorum stalks Axl and wouldn't stop commenting about to this very day

Matt was stalking Axl? You been snorting splenda, dumbass?

A fan who met Izzy quoted him as saying that "his (Izzy) music went one way, GnR went another ... and Slash was all about fame and money." And I didn't know this, but apparently, when Slash and Duff were writing their music, they had asked Izzy to come contribute. But funny, nothing Izzy contributed to or no credits were ever given to Izzy for anything on Contraband.

I don't believe for a second Izzy said those things about Slash. Prove it. Also, none of the music Slash and Izzy wrote together during the initial "project" stage of Velvet Revolver was used on Contraband. It sounded too much like old GnR and the band wanted to do something different. Izzy played with the band several times afterwards, so obviously there is no hard feelings.

Of course, there was also that lawsuit that Slash and Duff tried to file against Axl because they "lost millions in potential revenue" because Axl wouldn't agree to allow GnR's songs in certain movie soundtracks. According to Axl, he wasn't going to sellout to make a quick million and ruin the integrity of GnR's work.

Refusing to put WTTJ on Black Hawk Down was without doubt one of the worst things Axl has ever done. Such a huge, critically acclaimed movie that would have cemented the song as a classic rock tune. Instead Axl acts like a petulant child and refuses to let the movie makers use it unless it's a re-recorded version with the new "band". Disgraceful greed and bitterness from Axl Rose again.

So to answer your question, knightider, I learned that there are still a lot of insecure Axl Rose sympathisers that are still trying to discredit Slash, Duff & Matt - presumably because of the resentment they feel about all the success they've had with Velvet Revolver.

    Well, suck on it. :)

    What are you doing here?

Knightrider seemed happy to make his own comments, if some of what he says is not completely accurate, well, it's no big deal in my books. Anyway I don't know the truth beneath the things...

In his post, I didn't read insulting words on none of VR's members, on the other hand in your post it's rather clear that you have a problem with Guns n'Roses, I quote: "yes-men","Axl acts like a petulant child", "Disgraceful greed and bitterness from Axl Rose again".

So I repeat my question again: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

On topic: I learned I hope to live to hear Chinese Democracy.

I hadn't heard a rock show in a long time and what I heard was perfect to me.

I also learned that any of the leaks we heard is franckly (sp?) better than what I heard lately.

    Thanks GNR. :)

  9. Hey i don't know what is wrong with Axl but apparently doctors told him not to perform tonight and he had to leave halfway through Nightrain cos he was ill and didn't come back out.

So wish him your best to get better soon guys.

He was only suffering from a severe hangover. He's probably fine now ;)

Great if it was only that!

One of my friend almost died this year due to blood pressure problems. He got a 3 weeks bedtime before he could come back to us again...

Long live hangovers if it's that !!!

  10. Clearly, the pic is real. Not sure why people are making a federal case of it. I mean, the vid is right there to show you the whole shot.

On another matter.... I can't believe Axl still can't even give a simple wave to fans as he walks/runs to his car.:monkey:

Don't forget how shy he is according to some!

  11. has axl.... through his music molded your personality into what it is today, i'm talking about the indirect

influance the music and mr rose has had over you!, just how much power has it got over you? if any at all.

axl didn't want you to be someone of anger

    or idolize this cult figure

    he said just be yourself

but it's the example he sets himself

    good with words

growing up seems a problem in it's self

it helps release the pressure off himself!

No, I can't say he has.

I'm too rational to let myself be guided by anyone I don't know.

Though it's fair to say that I can relate to some of his lyrics, his melodies are a great "escape" for my head or have been at some point in my life but I never associated the person who wrote both melodies and lyrics to my own state of mind or personality.

I think I could only thank some bands for their musics but I couldn't admire/worship any of their members simply because I'm too down to earth to do it.

  12. I COULD reply but I learned all my Spanish off of old Cheech and Chong Movies..........

    unnerstan Bendecchio?

Now Stay On Topic Before you Pisseth off the powers that be...........

Damn! I make a halfway Intelligent thread and it ends up in Chaos.............

    Some Things Never Change....

    Gotta RUN ........

    Adios Mi Amore

    (was that a faux pas?)

BACK ON TOPIC PLEASE...........(was that obscene?)

    THANK YOU

    GODERATOR W.C.

(They made me do it......Donnie Darko)

only the assholios can read this at the bottom of my post.......

Being an asshole myself I'll precisely use this one post to say this to you: it's funny how you fuck your own threads! :P

    :book: "Grow old" Sir. :book:

  13. it's over rated, its not genius, it does get boring but it's still good. alot of people are saying it's genius because it's on of axl's favourites. it's better than alot of stuff today but I don't think it's particulary mind blowing. It's got a good flow to it and the breakdown is pretty cool and i do like the solo at the end.

It's not my fav either but I wouldn't say it's overrated. It's just new among 2 or 3 other new songs so that's why people make autopsies. Nothing new!

  14. Is it odd that the best of the new songs (and in some people's opinion, the only good new song) wasn't written by Axl?

the guitar is really lame and uninspriring (except bucket (ron's) parts), axl's melody is what makes the song.

I have to say: Almost as usual!

  15. simply because I'm not capable to think that a man can be more than this: human being.
For nothing in this world I would consider someone being a "superhuman", a "messiah" or a "living God", but don't feel offended, it is just the way I am.

I think you're missing the plot somewhat. He didn't mean it literally. You're more than capable. You have no choice. You may not be recognizing it for what it is. He's (WC) referring to the underlying emotional charge that fuels the obsession. It's happening everywhere. It happens with Axl and Gn'R for people who are into the music, image etc...initially. Of course Axl is only a human being. The instantiation of the archetype is based on your personal taste/experience - but the point is the same. It's not the medium, it's the message. Hence the sub-title of the thread. This thread has everything AND nothing to do with Axl Rose - from my perspective.

I read you and still I think it's more to be seen from the average teenager perspective. Any adult (normal adult) is past this "natural" feeling of "deep attraction" and "blind admiration" tending towards the mystic. That was my point.

Maybe I did not understand what WC meant, very possible, my english isn't so great but in no way I think I can admit GNR or even its leader or musicians can be considered as "spiritual" guides or responsible of a certain mentality, way of life... I think that would mean giving them a huge responsibility that basically doesn't match with rock n' roll and/or probably with what they think themselves. Then, of course these musicians, musics, lyrics absorb any person in need of emotional rescue (and it's very supportive unlike other bands I won't mention)

I've always thought that GNR was indeed needed, true, and I'll keep thinking so but never in the sense that may represent something they will never be.

I, for one, am humble and think that being not only the dign (?) heirs of Rock n' roll pionneers but also the greatest band in the world for their own music is already being recognized for what they are, and in my books it's not few.

I wouldn't add anything to what they already are: the greatest, both old and new line-up.

Note: I will re-read WC post just !
