Bach also described Sorry as doom metal, the guy is fucked

I'm catching myself constantly humming the main melody of 'The General' to myself.
That's a good thing, right?
Same, can’t get this shit out of my head. I’m still gonna try to not listen again until the real release. So tough though.

Gotta say I’m surprised to see people ragging on the General “daddy don’t” lyrics - we’ve known this song was about abuse for a while, and the lyrics SHOULD make you uncomfortable. Most musicians would never even write on such a dark and vulnerable subject.
I do think the chorus lyrics are weak in that it’s not clear what he’s trying to say, the whole “and the, and the, and” thing sucks

People think The General is BETTER than they expected? Fucking Christ it's terrible.
What makes you say that?
It's def not "epic" in the way everyone thought it'd be.

One thing I'll say - assuming these were ripped from a vinyl - they sound fairly far from being complete, like so far that it's surprising they were ever placed on a vinyl?

Chills
The General is basically every bit as good as I hoped. I did expect a killer solo though.
I never doubt Axl's songwriting. Even the dumb shit he writes like Eye on You is good to me.
I think I might try to put these away until December. The mix/quality on Monsters is pretty rough to me,

Do we know anything about the history of Monsters?

Starting to get really excited

2009 Tokyo Nightrain where Axl sung the beginning an octave up. He really had something to prove on that tour.

Not the first time Tommy has spoken of Axl's difficulties releasing the album, I'd love to hear his specific explanation of that

Haha, that's the first thing I thought. Keep your arms down in that vest Uncle Ax.
Or get a longer one - it's even too short with his arms down

Really happy to see him out there and that he’s healthy enough to still do the nunchuck routine. Also not a short show. He seemed like he just kept wanting to play based on all the little cover bits he was doing.

Big props to Axl, hopefully that’s how he’ll sing the song more often than not going forward.

Love the Buckethead vs Slash Argument, feels like 2010 or something

But doesn't he stay in that character off-stage too?
In the studio for example, he still wears the bucket/mask (always does when making music) but is less in character (for example, he talks to people, does not require a puppet lol). He's really shy regardless but there is a normal guy in there.

Holy shit Axl would sound bad on these today

Isn’t bucket basically having garage sales to pay bills? Kinda sad for someone so apparently talented.
He had health issues that prevented him from touring for a while + had his house broken into and some of his valuable guitars stolen.

Kindof curious about how a casual fan feels about Axl singing these songs lower. It might only be a GNR nerd thing to think it sounds great. They might be wondering where his signature high voice is. To me though, he sounds much more like himself singing like that than he does when Mickey is at its worst (which it usually is)

Strong Madagascar - are both Fortus and Slash soloing? How do they handle that part?

At least we won't know how bad Slash fucks this one up since we will not have heard the original.

When I sing Perhaps at work without listen to the song it always ends with singing Irs 🤣 Is it just me?
Haven't done this but I can imagine how that would happen.

Regarding the Slash/Gilby/Paul Tobias situation, I think it's useful to repost this Slash interview from 1995 that surfaced about 3 years ago. Probably one of the most interesting and informative interviews (from Slash's perspective, of course):
This is super informative, one of the most valuable interviews from that time I've ever read. Slash seems like he's being relatively fair and honest here. He doesn't totally dislike Axl yet at this point, GNR is still a possibility to him, so he's not just shitting on him.

I think this is a nice time to review writing credits from CD (only including band members)
Dizzy -3
Tommy - 2
Huge - 4
Finck - 1
Shitman - 2
Reese - 1
Bucket - 3
Brain - 2
Now that we have that out of the way, my money is on Hard Skool being written by Huge and Axl. I’m thinking the same for Perhaps.
Finck wrote on only one song? Never realized that
Edit: NVM just saw post above

Sick, I've been thinking about this tour lately for whatever reason so this comes at a good time.

It’s the spelling of Skool, the song is automatically bad for that and the accompanying school bell
