  1. I've just seen it in 3D Imax.

Probably the best cinema experience I have ever had.

Bleak movie but with so much beauty in its decay. Fantastic cinematography, solid script and killer music.

Beats the first one in all departments ( save for the technical prowess of directing it during the 80s ).

    Loved it.

Conor isn't a legendary MMA fighter.

He's a big mouth who's hyped himself into being a star over the past few years. Debatable whether he's even best at the weight's he competed at, but he is the best at the minute of drawing a buyrate in UFC against "insert the name".

That's important in the fight game though. There is a reason Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has a perfect MMA record barely gets enough money to pay the bills, not to mention doesn't even get a title shot :  because he is boring as fuck and constantly whines outside the octagon.

Superstars are byproducts of both their skillset and the way they portray themselves. I'd say the charisma part is even more important because charismatic people are remembered while uncharismatic talented people, unfortunately, aren't.

  3. What this franchise needs is a reboot that focuses on suspense and horror.

The creature has so much potential to be more than just a space-bug...As much as I love Aliens and the Queen design, I think it did the series a disservice in the long run because it made it okay for sequels to be less scary than the original masterpiece.

I don't care about bug-hunts. Please bring back egg-morphing and the androgineous / rapey creature that has no dumb origin backstory.

  4. Boring and rather awkward on both parts.

That being said, McGregor did better than most expected. 87-84 before that tko. He was completely gassed though in the last round so maybe showing up at 170 pounds was not such a good idea after all...

Ah well. He is a rich man now so props for having the balls and the mouth.

I dont think they like each other...at all.  Floyd in particular REALLY dislikes Conor.

I don't know, there were several occurences of McGregor making both him and Floyd Sr. crack a laugh and they weren't laughing at him ( when McGregor called the guy from Showtime a weasel to his face, when he stroked his bald head from behind, or when he called Sr. a fan of his ).

That's a pretty good sign you like someone when that happens despite your best efforts to remain serious.

I mean when you watch this, it's pretty clear that despite what they say there is no real rivalry between both camps :

  6. I'm pretty sure they actually like each other, hence why all the trash talk felt fishy.

And why wouldn't they, they are about to make a shitload of money because of each other, with almost nothing at stake. It's entertainment, not a fight with a genuine rivalry.

I just hope McGregor won't make himself look as bad as CM Punk did when he joined the UFC for about two minutes.

Poor Conor McGregor, i feel terrible for him.

I'm pretty sure he's aiming for a KO. Don't think he's dumb enough to think he can outscore Floyd.

He might have a chance in the first few rounds if he turns this in a street fight.

It's going to be interesting ( or hilarious ).

everytime i google "the universe news" i see some article from nature or national geographic, about new scientific discoveries on the universe, and it only points more in the direction of a creator.

seriously, to the "scientific camp" in this thread. actually look up the science on the universe, the latest developments in quantum physics, string theory, parallell universes, strange discrepancies in background radiation, ....

i'm not saying there definately is a creator, i'm just saying i believe so. anyone who disagrees, i'm happy to see the scientific articles that back your argument.

like i said, i despise religion. religion and science don't match: religion is stale, it's about status quo,  it's predetermined. science is about discoveries, change. both have to clash. but who knows, with every new scientific discovery, maybe we have proof of a creator some day? (though i doubt so)

I have no doubt that there is a creative force in the universe, that seeks to teach us more about ourselves and to learn more about itself through us. And yes I believe that we already have proof of the existence of such thing ( I believe Everett's Many Worlds theory is correct for personal reasons that I won't discuss here as the discussion is already messy ).

My guess is that well over a third of quantum physicists believe in some sort of creator simply because of the implication of the discoveries about individuality and the non-objective nature of reality.

However the topic wasn't really whether God ( no matter how you define the concept ) exists or not but how much organized religion impacted the pace at which scientific discoveries were made.

Not really. I've not even received a reply, least of all an adequate reply, to this,

I can make that as literal and modern as, how is one meant to build universities when American bombers have leveled your city!

I posted an article two pages ago dating the decline in islamic science to 750 years ago and clearly linking it to the rise of anti-rationalism in suni islam in response to geo-political factors.

    You ignored it so...

  10. Going to use a retarded yet real example :

Muslim leaders have launched a fatwa against whoever will go on Mars because "there is no righteous reason to go there"...

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2562957/Muslim-leaders-issue-fatwa-against-living-MARS-no-righteous-reason-there.html

Do you think said fatwa encourages people to work on a muslim space program in the long run ?

If the answer is 'no' then how does a religious environment not impact scientific research in general ?

He established the scientific breakthrough in the Europe of his day which was religious. If Galileo never even reached the theory through religious impediment, and in affect drifted off into history as a 'nobody', then your point would be valid, but we would not have the example before us today so it is a rather circular argument.

It took 123 years for his theory to be accepted and only after it was finally authorized by the Pope...

    Fuck this Mandela effect bullshit.

Should be called "Things I remembered wrong."   All there is to it.

Which would be fine and dandy if one of the standard models of quantum physics wasn't Everett's many worlds theory in which retro causality / the mandela effect is possible.

Also how do you explain that Gnr are convinced to this day that they recorded a cover of SFTD for a movie titled "Interview with a vampire" that is now titled "interview with THE vampire" ?

  13. The problem with Christianity's "turn the other cheek" is that, the way it is taught, it is incompatible with having healthy boundaries.

Turning the other cheek deliberately when you have healthy boundaries is making a powerful statement.

Turning the other cheek because it is the only thing you ever learned and because you don't value yourself enough is pretty weak.

As for MMA, I'd say most people don't enjoy it mainly for the bloodbath but because of the technical display, for the excitement of not knowing who between these two incredible athletes is going to win beforehand and how he or she is going to do it.

  14. Lack of empathy is one of the main traits of narcissists.

Millenials grew up with social media, sometimes being ignored by their parents, so is it really surprising that a large percentage of them are now full blown narcissists ?

  15. Frankly I hate that I'm not even shocked by those attacks anymore...

Wonder what it will take for the West to have an actual reaction. The last attack was twelve days ago. Twelve and it already seems ages ago and forgotten.

If we get to a point when it happens every two days, maybe then people will accept that there is something fundamentally evil with this shitty cult and that more of the same ( sadness, candles, praying, then business as usual ) won't solve it ?

  16. There definitely is a problem with Islam though : that it can't be reformed as other religions were, before they could rightfully be called "religions of peace", because there are various currents of Islam and since the Quran is supposed to be the "actual word of God", it can't be modified, only interpreted.

Don't think there is a problem with an entire branch of Islam ( and not only with a few radical nutbags ) ? Tell that to shiite muslims who have been enduring this kind of violence for centuries...

For every westerner that gets killed, two hundred more shiite muslims get the same treatment.

There IS a problem with Islam and our only hope is that followers of the biggest branch of Islam, Sunni muslims wake the fuck up and get tired of the bullshit that is done in their name and find a way to reform it.

Wester leaders are more concerned with the feelings of sunni muslims ( who should open their eyes to what is done in their name ) than with the bodies of innocent citizens / kids dying in the name of a bullshit cult and because of their cowardice.
