  1. I have experienced what that woman experienced. Honestly I find it more annoying than harassing. You just want to get on with your day. And many of the guys think they warrant a response, not aware that there are comments from numerous men. Enough already, got somewhere to go.

There are harassing comments sometimes, comments designed to make me feel uncomfortable. I always considered them trying to impose power over me with those comments, they are in control, sort of showing they own the street. I do resent that because I feel like I can only put my head down and move on quickly. I feel like they win a contest I didn't want to enter. But those types of comments are not that common.

Those guys walking along with her are out of order. That's just creepy.

  2. making the video may have helped the girls to learn they have a voice, but it failed in helping them to understand how to use it effectively. Hopefully they will pursue that. And hopefully they will decide their futures by their own choosing.

Let me teach my child many things, so that when my child chooses a life for himself, it will be determined by choice and not by lack of choice.

  3. Teach boys and girls that they are important, show them they are loved. help them to become confident and secure. The rest takes care of itself. They will learn that "words" are only powerful if you give them power. And female rights, human rights, are just, and they are worthy of them, and so will fight for them - confidently.

I don't get why the video measured something as important as rights to something as unimportant as words. they could have had those girls demonstrate ways that girls can take make their own way in the world, through study, work, and government. They could have encouraged girls to participate.

Video missed the mark. Fuck that bugs me.

  4. I have a love hate relationship with my job. Currently closer to hate. Depends on the amount of politics which is high right now. But other times it's more about getting things done, projects, problem solving. Then I love it. Many, many hours a week. Excellent pay. Could be a lot worse.

  5. I was walking 10K every morning and had just returned when the "breaking news" came on CNN. I sat down and didn't move for a coup,e of hours watching it. I remember thinking, how can a plane miss that building on such a beautiful day! Was it technical issues? Then the second plane hit and I remember the blood draining from my face because at that point you knew it was an attack.

Then I remember just trying to reach my son, a little panicky until I did reach him. Then the rest of my family in Florida.

It was a horrible day and week.

  6. I do have a requirement for education in my IT jobs. And to that extent it is important to have had technology based education because understanding the fundamentals is important. Does it need to be four years of university? no

I find I use a lot of my MBA education at my level, but I could have read the books and would have been fine I think. My big payback came from my education at community college more than my uni degree.

Today, the price of university, and the interest on loans to pay it back make university less valuable.
