  1. GG, I have done both and both are useful experiences for your career. If doing both is not an option, then the business/accountancy route may give you more options later.

I started out in accounting and directed it towards computer programming later which set me down a technology path that has paid off. I ended up teaching it as well, though I don't have a love of teaching so stopped that after a while.

You don't have to be great at maths, accounting is more about the rules and standards than the math.

  2. I now live in Toronto so that I can walk to work and avoid the traffic. I live in the west end so not quite the downtown. .there are things I really like but I do get the criticisms. A lot of idiots, and way too much traffic and people everywhere you go. Once the job ends I will likely move out of the city

The criticisms of Quebec seem more political than anything else. If you are talking about the cities, you tend to hear positives about Quebec.

  3. What I hear about Quebec has not been my experience in Quebec. At first it bugged me that in Ontario we have to have everything in both languages, including street signs, but then in Quebec they don't do the same and you see only French all over the place.

But being in Quebec I had heard that they would not speak English with you if you were from Ontario but would if you were from the US. I experienced that only once when asking for directions in Montreal. The rest of the time the people in both Montreal and Quebec City were pleasant and spoke English to me.

They go through their "I want to quit Canada" thing every few years, though I think it's more political and a diversion to push through other agendas (NAFTA, GST tax). But I'm glad they are part of Canada. I like the diversity.

  4. I think actually falling in love would be good for you, bro.

Falling in love is awesome. It's the being in love that seems tricky. Or does it often start to become something else: control or competition or something? I don't know but it scares me off every time.

  5. My feelings on "the visit"?

He dropped in, not stating it was any more than that. Mended a fence but didn't tear any of them down.

    Made me laugh once.

Said he couldn't tell us much and then didn't tell us much.

Nice jump in an otherwise bland day.

So I was okay with it.
