  1. Lucky mother fucker! Damn, look at that big ass fur coat. BAM.

Very cool to see Axl, but it's been pretty warm in T.O. What's with the fur?

Holy shit man, it was FREEZING that night. I'm from the Toronto area myself, and I'm cold. So I can only imagine what it would be like for a Cali guy.

It was freezing the night of the concert, but not the day he gave the autograph. It had been relatively warm that day, well over freezing. The temperature plummeted the day of the concert.

  2. Do some of you just not get it?

BBF, Richard, Frank, and the rest of the "band" Axl has on his payroll are pawns. Nothing more. Period. It is NOT a band.

It's basically Axl Rose telling a group of unestablished musicians to do this - and not to do that - and if they do this specific thing they will be fired. If you don't think this is reality, you are lying to yourself. That's why Axl no longer has the all-star cast of musicians that the world wants to see behind him (Slash, Izzy, Duff, etc). They wouldn't allow Axl to control them. Now, Axl is forced to employ different musicians every couple years so he can have this full control that he is looking for. Think about it .. did any of you even know who Fortus, Frank, Pittman, etc were before Axl started paying them? After he started watching guys like BH, Robin, and Freese bail on his ass it started sinking in that he wouldn't be able to find & keep any respectable musician (with an ounce of pride) who would be willing to operate this way, so he knew a group of virtual unknowns - with no other options - were his only resort. It's sad, but it is in fact reality.

No other band on earth gives answers like "no comment" or "I really don't know what's going on in the band" (that I am supposedly a part of). It's not normal and there is no other way to explain such abused, subserviant behavior. Their roles are to play their instrument (the way Axl wants it to be played) and to shut their fucking mouth. That's it. It should be painfully obvious that this is the case and I truly feel sorry for anyone who feels as though this isn't true.

Deal with it guys. It's fucking sad.

    Not a fan, eh?

  3. Another thing is when I first joined the group, because leaks were such an issue they wouldn't give me the music. I didn't have any of their new songs, and the band would say to me "Just tell them you have to have it - you have to have the songs to learn them", but the management folks would not give me the music - they said "No".

Umm,what the fuck? I have never heard of anything like this. Axl/"The Band" couldn't get access to the songs for him to rehearse. Is this some kind of a joke? Dudes in caves on the other side of the world had the songs but a "band member" couldn't get them to learn? People on here wonder why GNR is looked upon as a joke by rock fans well, here is a prime example.

Give the guy a watermarked ,copy-proof cd of the songs for fucks sake.Like he is gonna risk his spot in GNR to leak them?

He says management, but it's SOOOOOOO obvious Axl wouldn't let him have them. As if Axl couldn't EASILY give his guitarist these tracks. Give me a break.

Talk about distrust and paranoia. Dear God...

But he also said that everyone in earlier management was gone. If he included Axl in his definition of management, he wouldn't have said they were gone.

  4. You know with all the 'they didn't play my song' and 'why bubbles' stuff, it makes me realize how few complaints there really are for what's been an incredibly awesome time. With this board, twitter, facebook and actually going to a concert, I feel like I've been involved in the whole tour. The anticipation, LAX, the rumours, the setlists, the Axl pics, the awesome shows, and even the nitpicking. I feel like I shared it with all of you folks. The Canadian tour was great, every show was great, Axl was in a great mood, few late starts, no cancellations.

Come on, you have to admit. We've had a blast since it started.

  5. how was the reaction to the new songs? did u hear anyone talk shit about axls looks?

New songs were well recieved, SR especially. Heard people mention Madagascar before the show and as I said there was a twat chant. Sod

got a big cheer. Better had the whole arena dancin too. People were diggin the breakdown. Saw lots of 15-19 year old kids

    going wild for that.

No Rickey/Julien but bubbles was rockin the spacesuit again.

Thanks Jackie. I'll bet Halifax is going to be awesome as the last city on this leg of the tour.

  6. Maybe they thought that Vh-1,MTV etc. wouldn't care about the video? At this point the only way we will see this Better video is if someone leaks it or as a DVD extra.

It's rare that video channels even play videos anymore. Baz was right when he asked if we remembered when MuchMusic used to play videos (Toronto concert).

  7. Axl has publicly spoke about "management" out on this tour at Tokyo and now Toronto. Obviously the business end of things has annoyed him and the band. Question is...What is it they are suppose to do...especially on tour? He also mentioned that they don't have management involvement, if the tour is going this well do they need them?

Of course they do, if they did not have management we would still be waiting for the album.

Axls problem is unless you are a yes man then there is a problem. Management does not kiss Axls ass and they tell him how it is, that is a so called problem to Axl.

Axl needs more people like that around him, not ones like Beta who tell him he is always right even when he is wrong.

I have to agree. Azoff is the creme-de-la-creme when it comes to artist management. Plus, he heads up Ticketmaster which is in the process of merging with Live Nation, which will effectively make him the most powerful man in the music industry. Not a bad person to have behind you.

Wasn't Beta the one who stone-walled Slash when he tried to visit Axl in '05? It would be nice if he surrounded himself with people who didn't fan the flames of his insecurities and anger. That's not to say that Beta has not been a positivitve part of Axl's life. She obviously has. It's just that he should probably listen to those who have been in the business and know what will work for this band other than a group of 'yes men'.

I imagine everything Beta does has Axl's approval and that she wouldn't turn Slash away if it wasn't what Axl wanted.

  8. Users wanting to know where Axl found out about the French thank you well here it is:

In Montreal Eric wanted to tell him to say it, wrote it for him and everything, then he didn't... Eric asked him later and he said he got the note but did not elaborate, so tonight he ended up doing it, Axl rocks!!!

Well, that was actually really smart of Axl to use it in Quebec City and not Montreal.

I have friends in "english" Canada who told me there are serious divisions among french- and english-speaking Canadians. And since Montreal is closer to the Ontario border, many english-speaking fans would have been attending the Montreal show and would not have appreciated the "merci beaucoup" as much. But Quebec City is further away from the Ontario border and would likely have been comprised mainly of french-speaking fans. So the Quebec show fans likely really appreciated it. I could be wrong, but this is what a friend in Ottawa told me.

I've travelled to both cities quite a bit and never had a problem speaking English and being understood. But French is the primary language of both cities and a French thank you would be appropriate in both cities.

We're not all that hung up on the french/english division. The diversity is what makes Canada interesting.

I would have loved to have gone to this concert. QC is one of my favourite cities in Canada.

  9. Ok I'm in my seat in Ottawa and I personally watched a guy walk in with complete slash costume and nobody said anythig other than a few snickers so can we please stfu.

I feel this is officially dead in the water. This comes from Jackie moon personally, the highest authority.

So with your observation (the highest authority, after all) and the comments from the man himself, we can officially say this rumour was not true and let it die.

  10. I think he tops all gnr guitar player past and present maybe a close tie shredding with buckethead. What's ur opinions

In terms of the new guys, Ashba is the only one, I think that has ever written a hit album (SIXX AM)

Ashba is cool but let's not go crazy.

    us014-07WODEevoDdt.jpg

What I know is that I can't go back 15 years to that GnR lineup, and that lineup wasn't a 'gang' anymore anyway.

And I know that I want to have a good time, right now. I want to go to a GnR concert and laugh and scream and jump up and down and this lineup makes that happen. And DJ is right up front pulling the crowd in with playing that stands up to the hype. He was a big reason why I was so excited to be there Thursday night.

Whether Slash in the lineup is better is a non issue for me, because I can't have that now.

And what's so wrong with going crazy?

  11. Thanks everyone for being on topic and not derail Revolver's Canada Trip thread over the fake Slash thing, wich is yesterday's rumoured news anyway. So I ask everyone, including all admins, to keep that for the corresponding thread.

    Eric (admin)

yeah I just had to write about what he said on this topic though to end the seemingly endless discussion.. was getting so f-n sick of that

    Excellent read Revolver!

The day you met Eric and I in London was awesome I finally got to meet you after talking I think every night since you said you were coming, lol even way before BF called you or you won the backstage passes.

Seeing you in London reminded me of my youth, you were on the rail just giving it, I loved it from my vantage point!

I remember hooking up just after the epic Montreal show, as we got ready to go Backstage I said to you "are you ready?" and you looked at me and you were like "oh yeah!!!!" Although I don't think you knew exactly what was going to happen just yet....

I was watching you talk to all the band members while I talked to others and could see you only got distracted from the girls lol

oh man those girls yeah! hahah I came up to you like 4 times just going "can you believe how hot those girls are man?! what the fuck??!" hahaha.. thanks for the good times man and I hope I'll see all of you soon! we'll just see how money goes, I guess

So what was with the girls? Were they girlfriends, the shooter girls, groupies? Did they travel with the band, or were they 'found' at the concert?

Did Axl have a girlfriend there? (Can't believe I didn't ask this sooner).

  12. You should have asked Axl about Estranged on this tour :D

If it were me, I wouldn't have been able to think about anything, much less questions other people had for Axl. I'm just glad every part of the after party was a thrill for Revolver, and that they were so cool to him.

  13. ... He should have came out and said all this publicly.

Agreed. If he had come out right away and said that he believes fans should be able to wear whatever they wish, this would have ended the entire discussion. But he didn't.

And I have to say that it saddens me that Axl thinks the sources are "fake." The security manager is very real and I have his name and phone number if he's interested in following up. Also, our forum members who witnessed this firsthand had no reason to lie. Axl can talk to them as well if he doubts they exist.

Revolver - glad you had a great time. :)

But he did come out pretty early on, through Fernando, and refute the story. But for some reason that is not accepted. No we didn't hear it from Axl himself, but you didn't hear from Axl himself either and still communicated that it was fact.

  14. I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure the original band couldn't get back what they had together that made them great.

The main problem with restoring the chemestry between Axl and Slash is that they don't like each other. That would be apparent in any performance and would need to be worked out long before.

Wow, can you imagine the team of lawyers and psychoanalysts it would take to pull that off? I think in the end, they were always travelling in different directions and for a brief period of time their paths crossed and we benefited from it. And now this lineup's paths have crossed and we are benefiting again. Yay for us.

  15. Guns N' Roses Prove Sometimes You Can't Go Back Home Again

Guns N' Roses circa 2010 can definitely cut it in technical proficiency — all are talented musicians. They're not exactly left in the background while Rose takes the spotlight (all three guitarists got their own instrumental solos). But the sense of menace and seething anger is missing from the current incarnation. It's what drew me to them as an impressionable 12-year-old.

While Rose still carries these qualities with him everywhere he goes, the rest of the band seem subservient to his whims. It's not that the original line-up didn't have to deal with his antics; they put up with quite a lot, in fact. But the group always felt like a unit who had lived the nihilistic lyrics of their songs and had come together to take on the world. It's a quality that you can't replicate and no matter how good this band gets, Guns N' Roses will never have that again.

    http://www.chartattack.com/reviews/79008/guns-n-roses-prove-sometimes-you-cant-go-back-home-again

This guy put into words what I could "feel" after seeing the show, but somehow couldn't explain. The new band is great, the show was great, but this:"But the group always felt like a unit who had lived the nihilistic lyrics of their songs and had come together to take on the world. It's a quality that you can't replicate and no matter how good this band gets, Guns N' Roses will never have that again", is absolutely spot on. That being said, even if the "original" afd lineup was still together, it would likely be the same ie that "spark" would no longer be there imo. They're all older now, have lots of money, have passed all the original angst that drove them, etc. I love chi dem, so I do not agree with the part where the reviewer says the tunes were "snoozers" or whatever, but I do agree with the part about the band kinda just "whisking" through the afd tunes kinda like "hafta play em" sort of deal. If, for example, this new lineup, writes/records/tours a new album, that "they" created, the feeling might be different imo. And totally agree with YCBM kicking major ass (november rain also, even though Im not a big fan of it other than the solos).

    Cheers

I'm gonna be nice. Ya sound naive. It really sucks that you know the vibe haschanged but still buy a ticket. Axl thanks you...

Why the bashing? I think the new band is great, show was great, etc. and I don't want a reunion. Didn't bash Axl either, he was fantastic.....Maybe because my username is "Slashz28" you sort of misread what I meant. I went in with the mindset that it would be a great show (which it was imo, Baz included, cause I went just as much to see Baz as I went to see gnr), and came away feeling it was a great show. Probably just not explaining it right. Anyway, I do take offense to being called "naive", I mean wtf? I won't retort to name calling on here cause it 's just childish for no good reason.

    Anyway,

    Cheers

Yeah, Baz was a surprise for me. I just thought of him as a retro 80's novelty, but I'm so impressed with how this guy can still perform, with a great voice and energy. I had pointed out to my friend that I had heard he was in this year's Celebrity Fit Club. I had thought that was a show about weight loss (don't know to be honest) but how could it be when you could bounce a dime off of Baz's gut. My friend, who was more aware of Skid Row back in the day than I was, said he looks exactly the same as he did back then. Good Canadian genes, I'd say. And certainly a great lead in for GnR.

But that "come together to take on the world" thing that everyone loved about GnR wouldn't be gone now if they reunited just because they got older. It was gone even before Izzy left - 20 years ago. They felt that in the early years, when they all lived together in tiny apartments and had no money. It was actually only there for a couple of years. Then as Duff has said, the entourage got bigger, the drug dealers were on call... Besides, none of us would have seen much of that. We would see the comraderie on stage - and that's what we saw on this tour. And I really saw it in Toronto. I've probably watched every YouTube GnR video and I just don't see it any better with the AFD or UYI lineups. These guys on this tour appear to really like each other, and are having a great time.

And I thought DJ was pretty into the old tunes. He was psyching the crowd up for WTTJ and SCOM quite a bit from what I could see. I think sometimes people make their minds up before they go. I saw a band put everything into every song, and I'm glad that's the band that I experienced.

  17. The subtitle to this thread should be "Why am I illiterate?"

    :book:

Ever considered the possibility that maybe English isn't the topic starter's native tongue? :book:

    Moron.

At least two people who admitted to being confused now, or for sometime in the past, were native English speakers. One from Australlia and one from Boston.

As for the OP, they did not indicate.

But had they been literate, they could have went to any number of free online sites to do a little investigation. So as to not, instead, post such a fantastic topic.

They could have typed "How do you pronounce Scraped?" into Google in less time. I assume Google exists in all parts of the world.

It's not a language question as it is a lack of literary resourcefulness.

Did you even try googling that phrase, before suggesting it? Here Now, please point me to the relevant result.....

I like how the first thing that comes up in the search is this particular thread. Check out the site description:

    The irony astounds me.

    Best post of the day!

  18. I dont really ever post. i usually am checkin out the forum everyfew days keepin my self posted SINCE I HAVE BEEN A DIE HARD SINCE I LEARNED TO SPEAK!!!

This concert was the night of my life. The review is right about everything. Axl's voice was fuckn amazing. I must say, for the first time, i feel this band has not only held its own to the old guns, but surpassed them with the talent and the ability to make you feel like your still at a GUNS N' FUCKIN ROSES show!!!

DJ Ashba had completely gained my full respect and is now my favourite GNR guitarist. This guys interaction with the crowd is not only awesome but genuine at the same time.

I was at the front by the stage where Ashba was rockin out most. He was throwin us picks all night, Finally I caught one!!! it was a hard one with his signature on one side and the new official GNR logo with the stars on the back. It was fuckn awesome!!!!

When Ashba jumped off stage during the outro to Paradise City he came right to me and my uncle, hopped on the front fences and we held him up while he whaled away! this is a moment that felt so surreal I am still fuckin gettin goosebumps thinkin about it. HE WON MY ULTIMATE RESPECT AND in my opinion, he felled that gap with respects to his persona and character that slash had. I love slash but DJ has proved himself in my opinion. i gave Ashba an envelope with a Canada flag zippo and some note or something for this girl beside me since she couldnt throw it. she was estatic with the show as wel

Axl was fuckin amazing screaming his ass off with no flaws that i could hear. At the end of the show he saw me and my uncle going nuts waving at him so he gave the security guard a shot of tequila and nodded him over to us. I HAD A SHOT WITH AXL!!!!!!!!

i even caught that stupid bra the review was talking about! didnt keep it though. who evers that was though was fat, and had big titties for sure lol.

Anyways this was the night of my life and i could not let it go with out sharing even if i just blabbered on! GUNS N ROSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rock3 rock3 rock3 rock3

Great review! I was sitting above you and saw a lot of it. You'll have awesome memories of this forever. I agree with you, DJ has won me over and filled that Slash gap. You can tell Axl really likes the guy. He's energetic, great charisma, and into his fans. And he was having such a great time being part of GnR. I was so happy we were on that side of the venue. We had DJ most of the night.

    Who the fuck is Slash?

One of the early guitar players who couldn't hack it.

  19. ITS STOOOOOPIDDD face facts people will not love this gnr all the time, i agree they doing awesome, but 8 good shows in 17 years is hardly going to make me go and have a wank !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love axl rose to bits but he has alot of making upto all his fans that have put up with his crap over the years

I don't get this. What does he owe you? He makes a record, you like it you buy it. You don't, you don't buy it. He doesn't owe you another record. He's touring, you want to go, go, you don't, don't go. He doesn't owe you another tour. He didn't ask you to love him to bits and he never asked anyone to put up with his crap. You could leave, you could stop listening. What does he owe you?
