@Asia I guess you don't want to pack up your shit and follow them around forever any more then?

You know what, yes and no, mixed emotions as the Stones say. I had the greatest fun during the show and would love to experience that again but that doesn't mean I am completely uncritical. Also, I think Axl sounded much much better then than now in Rock in Rio and the live experience altogether is a different beast. Surely though, once you get a chance to see the pro-shot like this and compare it with what they used to deliver in the 90-s, it's a great let-down. I can't cpmpare these two experiences live cause I unfortunately haven't seen them at their prime. I am sure though, this must have been unbelievable.

And as for Axl's looks - well even there and then his stupid rings and make-up made me cringe  Just as much as Slash's idiotic hat.

  2. While I agree that mocking anyone for his looks like they did is very wrong, I have to totally disagree that Axl looks good, let alone great. No, he doesn't, he did not age well, he aged quite badly. I do no expect him to look 29 obviously but he barely looks himself. Yes, the hair is horrible and I also find it hard to undersand why he doesn't do anything about it (3 hours at the haidresser's would do, there are all kinds of treatments, extentions, anything and he's got millions of dollars), his face is weird, it's on one hand much too smooth, on the other, it has lost it's shape entirely, lost lots of the mimics and is very womanish - he kinda looks more like an old lady than an old man and that I consider the worst. Looking at him these days you can hardly see what sex he is... Not to mention his outfit and image choices, which are simply horrible and dreadful and do more than half of the damage. The jewlery, especially those rings are just a nightmare, the necklesses - too much, too expensive, too heavy, ugly, the makeup on his eyes - this is some kind of nightmare, I don't know what the hell he is thinking, he's additionally emphasizing this old womanish look with this, it's dreadful. The way his bad hair is cut is also terrible - it's an old woman's hairstyle again - either let this hair grow really long or just cut it short. Anyway, truth is he hasn't aged well at all, and though with doing quite little, he could easily make himself look much better (good hair, no makeup, no cheesy, gay jewlery, no red fluffy bathrobes that make him look like a brothel lady, no hats, etc.), he does everything to the contrary. I don't expect him to look 30 but a 54 years old man can look very good, unfortunately he's not that case. To be fair, I also don't like the way Slash looks now and his choices of clothing also leave a lot to be desired.

  3. It was quite bad, indeed. I didn't even make it to the end. Had to stop and play 1991 Rio just to remind myself what it was all about with this Axl. Did this guy ever really sing so good or why did I like him in the first place... Well, he did...

Anyway, this was sad. A guy who had the best voice in the biz, could do with it whatever he wanted, never ever delivered a shitty performance in the 90-s, comes out and sounds sooo bad. Gee, I was watching some singing contest and thought - these days they wouldn't even let Axl in there, everyone would tell him he has no voice and cannot sing at all. It's just sad. It's not only the Mickey - it's also the lack of timing, lack of tune, he doesn't make it on time with the phrases, he has problems pronouncing the words, it's all a fucking mess. Maybe the band is also playing too fast, I don't know. I don't think it is his running that is so much a problem here. When he was young he ran and jumped so much he often ended up much more out of breath than now. There were moments he missed or barely shouted out the entire stanzas but once his breath was back he sang perfect again. Now it's all just weird. He seems sometimes as if he had forgotten how to do it, not only lost his voice.

That's why I'm thinking seriously of alcohol. Because it affects the entire brain and body and  would make it more difficult to do all things - the timing, pronounciation and all other shit as well. And that would fit, other than that I cannot see any reasonable explanation. It's one thing to have a weaker voice and another to completely forget how to use it and he once knew it perfectly. It would also explain why there are such ups and downs. And why once he has a break and goes to celebrate with TB and drink, he always comes back sounding so much worse. And a big gathering like this is a great occasion to have a drink or two...

He should quit once and for all. He should start working hard on learning how to adapt his way of singing with the voice that he now has to the songs he performs, he shuould work out which songs to keep, which to eliminate from the set. Abstinence, some more hard work and it would be so much better. Or he should start a career in painting or something. Because the way it is, it's embarrassing and makes me feel truly sorry for him.

  4. In all honesty I think that Axl's vocal problems have one major cause - alcohol. He used to say back in the day it fucked up his voice and made him unable to sing. Since then he has spent 20 plus years drinking much too much and apparently, as we've seen during this tour as well, he still doesn't refrain from it. He even brings it on stage and drinks during the show - something he'd never do in the 90 s. I don't think the lack of rehersals is the main problem here, I think he has a different one and it can't get any better until he solves it and he doesn't even seem willing :shrugs:So there you go - two weeks of all kinds of "celebrations" and here's what you get...

  5. The only right thing to do after this tour is a new GNR album with new music and bringing this once amazing band, the greatest achievement of their lives,  back to life for real. That's their only and last chance to do this, there has not yet been a better one and there will not be. If they fuck it up, than they are more of fucking pathethic idiots than I've ever thought they were. Which, unfortunately, seems very likely...

  6. Really, one doesn't have to be after the musicians or crazy or antifeminist or whatever to find this or other person irritating and not likable, at least at the shallow level of Internet or instagram interaction. It's more than obvious that certain people we see on the media, wheather journalists, musicians, actors, politicians, men, women, wives, husbands, whoever, gain our sympathy from the first glance and others to the contrary. It can be a completely wrong impression that would get verified within 5 minutes in real life but It's just how it is. To add some crazy ideology to it is simply stupid.

Of course, going as far as leaving rude comments under this person's posts, not to mention threats or stalking of any kind is already sick and much beyond acceptable but that is a different story.

And as for the right of the families to privacy - well, to be honest, neither Susan nor Meegan act as if they wanted to stay private but rather they seem to want that limelight on themselves and their children as well. Otherwise why would they be so active in the media? After all, they could refrain from posting anything if that was what they wanted. But it seems they want to be celebrities as well and gain something from it either for themselves or their offspring. Not saying there's something wrong with that but certainly it has its downside too and surely they're aware. It's not like Axl or Slash or Duff are only getting positive reactions from people, either. Negative comments just go with the territory of being popular and they consciously chose to make themselves popular. So I'd say dramatizing over their poor fate is much of an exaggeration, except for the creepy behaviors verging on illegal that should be taken care of by proper services, regardless of who they concern.

Plus the song won't likely be played considering that was one of the songs that was definitely against the old band.

So what? Do you really think they stop playing songs because the lyrics are not up to date anymore? In that case they shouldn't be playing anything at all.

  8. Hmmm... Sound is off, last time Meegan turned off the sound, she commented that we need to wait to hear new music, if I remember correctly she never explained what she meant or reacted in any way to the rumours and hype it caused, now this, well, I guess there is s possibioity there's something interesting going on... wheather we hear it anytime soon is another thing, though...

Don't know about that...Meegan sounded mighty surprised to see him there.  When she thought it was someone else she was like, Hi.  Then Axl steps in and she's all, OH, HIIIIIII!!! HOW ARE YOU....I WAS JUST LIVE AND LFJ£$G*F  Clearly shitting herself like everyone else who accidentally gets Axl on film.  Flebs nearly dropped his phone when he did the same thing last week.  Hilarious stuff though.  Axl seemed pretty cool about it.

Seriously, I think it's crazy to think that they don't talk and only meet on stage. That would be more than ridiculous and awkward and is just simply unreal. They are normal people, not from another planet, they have a huge history together, they've known each other very well for several decades, they're obviously happy to be doing things together again, why the hell would they not talk? Why would they not share their experiences and thoughts from the shows or whatever or just simply talk about whatever? Meegan is surprised as she probably didn't expect him in that moment while she's filming and streaming it live and this is a little uncomfortble knowing Axl doesn't like being filmed. Also she's licking up because apparently everybody licking up to everybody is just the manner nowadays. TB to Slash, Meegan to Axl, etc.

Axl on the other hand doesn't seem at all as if he was doing something unusual, comes in pretty much like to his own place and starts talking to Slash right away in a pretty casual manner. Doesn't seem like he's never done it before.

Since I am the original source of these pictures (at least nowadays), I feel like I have to comment on this.

I saved that picture strip with the 4 pictures of Slash and Duff on bed (with the fourth picture being the one where Slash is bending over Duff) many, many years ago and don't remember the original circumstances anymore (or if there even was any additional info to go with the original pictures). Then that picture strip apparently disappeared from the internet until I posted it again in the original Women's Thread during a Sluff discussion or something and it's been circulating around Instagram and places like that ever since.

But like I said back then when I posted this picture, I have no clue if that fourth pic in the series is real or photoshopped. I researched this once and was able to find bigger, more HQ versions of all the pictures from this photoshoot, except for that last one.

So take it with a grain of salt. Or if you really want to know and don't mind feeling like a creep, ask the original photographer if there was ever any actual kissing going on during that photoshoot...

Hmm, that's possible. I thought they were just fooling around but yeah it could be photoshopped. The quality of this picture is so poor, you can't tell anything...

I really don't get why you would want to watch the same show 70 times, the travelling part I get but even then they don't stay somewhere long enough to appreciate it.

To tell you the truth, when I was at the show, I had so much fun I dreamed of having the money to be able to go for the entire tour and I think I would have great fun doing that. Of course, I can't be sure I wouldn't change my mind after the third show but either way I wouldn't consider it impossible that someone may actually really enjoy such a thing. Although with the part of them being interested in one member only, yeah, that I also find weird.

I do think they're still putting the blame on others (previous management) and not accepting responsibility for their own involvement though.

Yes and there is no other way out. Can you imagine Axl saying - well I was an idiot and everything I've thought was stupid and everything I've done was wrong? Or Slash? Obviously they're not the characters that would ever do this. Also it would be pretty risky cause if they took the whole blame upon themselves they would now have to admit they ruined it all for themselves and maybe even hate themselves. It is much easier and definitely more pleasant to hate on Dougie, Lawyers, Maynards, Guitar Technicians or whoever the fuck comes to their mind  Seriously, I think that with who they are and how they are, finding a third party to blame, calling it a misundestanding and alleviating themselves of a lot of responsibility is just the only way it could work. It might not be a good way objectively and generally but probably the only way in their case.

As for Izzy and Steven - well we still don't know what went on behind the scenes and what the reality is with those two is so I'm not so quick to blame them. Izzy and the negotiations with him are a big mistery, we know shit about that, as for Steven, I still think people are underestimating the degree to which he's unstable, dependable upon other people and influenced by them (especially his mother), difficult if something goes not the way he wants to and shit like that which make make it virtually impossible to stand him throughout the entire tour. We only see the smiling happy guy behind the drumkit, we have no idea what he's like on everyday basis and what kind of trouble he could potentially be causing. From what I see, after all his drug history, he definitely isn't an independent person, who thinks independently and clearly and makes all decisions for himself. He's more like a kid - he'll do whatever his mom or whoever else at a given moment tells him to do. I don't think anyone can really depend on him behaving himself adequately to the situation and not causing drama while this is very important for the big three at the moment, so... well, I don't think they care enough about Steven to risk the whole thing going wrong for him.

well, what I read was, we are going to blame and project the real issues on to others and absolve ourselves, see how long we can go like that. So those that caused problems, including themselves, wont be mentioned. The quote said it all, look how it is phrased. I can almost bet they have dared to blame Steven (Axl) and Izzy (Slash). The business people etc are not who they are talking about, he is saying that no one is there to disagree with their assessment of who is at fault. I'm sure they threw in other names, relationships and some industry people, but it feels a bit fake and dishonest otherwise he would have said we talked about OUR issues and how we got in our own way at times and didn't have to elaborate.

C'mon what do Steven and Izzy got to do with it? Why would any of them blame them when they weren't even there while this happened. It's obvious he meant Goldstein and some other people that were around at that time. And that they blamed it all on others? Well, I guess Duff already hinted at that in his book and it was a safe and smart option. Better than quarelling once again who was more at fault, which would take them nowhere. And most importantly, it worked. Also it's not totally untrue, a lot of people had a lot to do with driving them apart.

They're out there playing together.  They're in a band.  Why do people need them to be best buddies?

Because the incredible chemistry between them - BOTH musical and personal - is what created the best band in the world. GN'R was never a band of coworkers and collegues. It was a family band which is what made it so special. The close relations between them were reflected in the amount of engagement and dedication with which they approached it. That is why it was so honest and heartfelt. No business collaboration can ever come close to it.

Im sorry but you are displaying ignorance about the subject. You truly do not understand what xenophobia and classism are.

Ask yourself why do you have a need to remark she is Brazilian? What does it add to the problem or the point that you are trying to make? If you don't think that a Brazilian is more or less inept than a British person then what is the purpose of the word in the sentence?

I'm sorry but you are displaying a serious problem with the ability to look at the world for what it is rather than only see it from the perspective of the indoctrination you've been feeding yourself with. Just because you read in some book or saw on the TV what xenophobia or classism is, you think you know exactly what other people think or why they used this or another word, what they know about xenophobia or what their attitude towards other nationalities are. That is plain bullshit. Because you know nothing. Are you really trying to tell me what I think or what my views are? Do you really think you know better? One big LOL.

I'll try to explain it to you once again, although with people seeing the world through the narrow peep holes of ideology (even if this ideology is by definition positive) it is often hard to do and might be in vain. I say Brazillian because she's Brazillian. Were she British, I'd say the British housekeeper - the adjective in itself isn't in any way evaluative.

People, their motivations and the reasons behind their choices of words are far more diverse than your definition of xenophobia can possibly cover. Please, bear that in mind.

Oh and btw, not so long ago we were remembering 300 000 people (1/3 of the population of the capital city), including women and children, who were murdered in one city within 63 days (my grandparents' brothers and sisters included) just because they were considered less human by the occupants, so yeah, we here know nothing about these kind of problems...

And no, I don't think Brazillians are inept in comparison with the British, far from it... Although, of course, it might be that you know better what I think.

    * When you need to remark that someone is a brazilian, argentinian, armenian, american or whatever, in order to make a point about the faulty traits in their character or other negative points they may have as a person or as a professional then YOU ARE BEING A XENOPHOBE, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

No! Even if I call her a Brazillian housekeeper with some contempt, that doesn't mean that I think of Brazillian people as more stupid or that I think there's no possibility that Axl could have a great Brazillian manager. All it means is that she is Brazillian so I can't really call her British, Czech or German housekkeper, which I would if she were one of those. If I call her housekeeper that already means something but not necessairily classism (LOL) but just the fact that housekeepers are not generally best educated or prepared to become managers - same goes for astrophysicists, engineers building bridges and many other professions simply completely unrelated to managing a band. I'd risk a theory that a majority of people calling her a Brazillian hosuekeeper on this forum mean more or less the same.

Seeing xenophobia everywhere someone uses the name of a country in relation to something negative is much of an exaggeration.
