  1. For those of you criticizing the interview for its lack of depth, I ask you to reconsider the type of medium that the interview took place in. Talk shows, by nature, are fluff (at least in the United States). If Axl were to go on, let's say, Charlie Rose, Pierce Morgan, or 60 Minutes then we would have a much different interview (something of substance). This interview, however, served its purpose (to promote the Vegas shows and to portray Axl as an outgoing and charismatic dude). Such objectives, in my opinion, were beautifully achieved.

  2. His look. It's embarrassing to see someone iconic for being skinny pack on the weight. And those hats and that ridiculous mustache make him look like he's in the Allman Brothers Band rather than GNR.

If he lost a little weight, had his UYI haircut and re-grew his beard to conceal his neck, I think the majority of jokes about his appearance would stop.

Yes, because he is so fat:

He's not fat! Nice pic, thank you Soul :)

I don't like the mustache though, when he's wearing the big white hat he reminde me of

  3. I don't think you get it so I'm going to give you an example.

Slash is uninspired and BLAND AS FUCK right now.

This is a fact. Nothing against him, loved his material in Guns, love both Snakepit albums, but this is still a fact : his solo album and Apocalyptic Love suck shit compared to his old material.

Should I ask him about this fact on twitter or have some class and stfu instead ?

This hits the nail on the head right here. Imagine if Slash came to the forum and a bunch of people started insulting him, pissed him off and he left the forum. The same people who were harassing Ron would take a 5-tonne shit.

Slash is an important part of GNR history and everybody should respect that, so if he comes to the forum and people insults him I will complain even though I don't like him

  4. I remember he said he wasn't happy with the booklet, but it would be extremely stupid not to promote your album because of the booklet and Axl is a lot of things but he's not stupid at all

There must have been something else he didin't agree with, maybe it was the Best Buy deal, plus he had problems with Irving Azoff who, according to Axl, was boycotting CD because he was working to get the classic line up reunited.

I don't know what happened, but I don't swallow he didn't promote CD because of a shitty booklet. Besides, it's not the artist's job to promote their album, it's the record company's job!

I can understand your skepticism, but I think your post contains some misconceptions.

It's not necessarily "stupid" to stand up for yourself. Money isn't everything. Sometimes costing others money to stand up for yourself is just as satisfying, or moreso, than making money yourself.

To you it's just a booklet, but philosophically, it's more a question of who had final say artistically over the completed and released work. To many musicians, the packaging and artwork is VERY important. A crucial element of any album. Why support the release of an album in a form you don't approve of?

As for whose job it is to promote an album, that is not a cut and dry issue. Sometimes artists are contractually obligated to cooperate with promotion, sometimes they aren't. Every case is different.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out :)

I didn't mean it's stupid to stand up for yourself, I meant there was something else that may have pissed Axl off apart from the booklet. Can't believe it was only because of the booklet...

You are right that artists are obligated to cooperate with promotion, but some people here seem to believe promotion is only Axl's job, because they only blame Axl for the lack of promotion while Best Buy didn't promote CD the way it was expected, nor did the record company IMO

  5. I believe he stubbornly refused to promote CD since he wasn't happy with the end product.

  6. Do you have any expectations for Axl beyond someday releasing CD II? I'm sure he'll do more tours, but CD II is mainly what keeps me somewhat interested still.

Yes I expect them to release a new album, I hope it will happen soon (by that meaning our conception of soon not Axl's) and that's what keeps me interested. Although I enjoy the touring especially when they come to Argentina and I can watch them live!

  7. Of course I don't like it when members of the band I am here for -- the very reason for me being here -- is met with lots of offensive, abrasive posts causing him to leave the forum for good (?). It makes this place less interesting for me, and presumably many others who aren't here just for dicking around, hanging out with friends, enjoying the drama, but are here because they are actually fans of Guns N' Roses and would delight in the opportunity of talking with a band member even if that band member can't answer our questions in regards to the future of the band. What happened was the opposite of what I would expect to see at a fan site. Critical questions are well and good, but to attack Bumblefoot as if he's the one with the answers or the one steering M/S GN'R, is just silly and destructive and the way it transpired, staggeringly offensive and immature. The cupcakes won, Ron's gone. The fans lost.

And whether Bumblefoot really meant what he said to the fan, whether he was here for reducing the damage, whether he handled the situation well, is completely irrelevant.

Yes i agree, it makes this place less interesting for me as well

  8. oh I'm sorry I missed Bumblefoot's chat but I'm glad to read he's feeling better :)

IMO, BBF was tired of being asked about videos and albums and what will Axl do while he was on vacation and said "Fuck this, fuck that" and some of you guys read too much between the lines.

I don't suffer any chronic pain (thankfully) that may affect my humor but I do have a lot of work and the other day I was so tired of picking and relocating penguins from the public beaches that I said I don't want to see a fucking penguin til next year

Thankfully nobody sent that statement to the newspapers accusing me of hating penguins

As for the OP yes making public a private conversation is just wrong so you either freaked out and wanted to hear the opinion of other forum members or you are a douche craving for attention (I'm undecided because I don't know you OP so I can't judge you but yes, sharing private conversations is wrong)

And posting someone else's photos without that person's consent is also wrong, posting someone's phone number, email and/or postal address is also wrong in case you wonder. What is wrong with some of you guys?

Every thread ends being spammed with insults and personal attacks and "thought" users disrespecting band members... I do understand mods tolerate certain things because if not some users may complain about the lack of "freedom of speech" but being disrespectful isn't freedom of speech! You can ask the same questions politely or you can be an asshole and keep the band members away from this forum spoiling the fun to the rest of us which it seems some users succeeded to accomplish :fuckyou:

  9. Why do you even care Soul? People will believe whatever makes them feel good. I don't believe in a lot of stuff but if others do it doesn't bother me :shrugs:

Because I believe irrational beliefs in general are a huge problem to humankind by being an obstacle to clear thinking, to science, and to sensible allocation of valuable and limited resources, and hence progress. Astrology is for the most parts harmless, but by not opposing this particular irrational belief because of its lack of evidence, we risk coming off as hypocritical when we try to oppose other irrational beliefs for the very same reason.

IMO astrology may be dangerous at an individual level if people become dependent. I mean, poor people who believe their fate is dominated by the stars and not by their good or bad choices, and the ones that can't make a decision without asking an astrologist for advice. But astrology is harmless compared to religion. Religion has had a global impact and it fucked up the world. Animals species have become extinct because as they are not supposed to have a soul it wasn't a sin to slaughter them. And the planet has been depleted because these people think god made it for humans to take profit of everything in it. Even people have been (and are still being) killed because of religion, and our huge population number is due in some cases to uneducated people refusing to use natality control methods because they were forbidden by church.

So I don't care about beliefs that only affect individuals in opposition to beliefs that can fuck the whole planet. But that's only the biology/conservation perspective, we don't think about individuals but about populations. And our population is extremely unhealthy because of the bad choices our ancestors made based in religions. Anyway, it's a boring conversation for a GNR forum Soul

  10. There is nothing wrong with people having beliefs if that makes them happy.

That is one interesting idea. To a certain degree we agree. For instance we let children believe in Santa Clause for a few years because they enjoy that particular fantasy. But as they grow older we dispel the magic by telling them the truth. Why do we do that? Would it be so wrong if grown-ups believed in Santa Clause? Not more than grown-ups believing in unicorns, for sure. But what about astrology? Is it so wrong that grown-ups spend money and waste time listening to what astrology charlatans tell them? A bit more I think we would agree on. What about beliefs that are not only irrational but also hurting others? Like parents whipping their kids because they believe they are possessed by demons? I guess we would all object to that and not just "politely respect" their opinions. What about people who object to chemotherapy and treatment and rather spend their money on homoeopathy and other quack medicine? Shouldn't we for their sake argue with them so they have higher probability of winning over their disease and living their remaining years with a good quality of life? What about people who refuse to let their kids get blood transfusion because it is wrong according to their irrational beliefs? What about Anders Behring Breivik who decided to kill kids because he wanted to send a message about the dangers of multicultural societies? Irrational beliefs run the gamut from completely harmless to very destructive. But they ALL have in common that they replace truth with fantasy. Humanity would be better off if grown-ups didn't waste time on nonsense, there are plenty of real problems facing us that demands our attention.

So when presumably grown people claim that astrology works then I believe it is the responsibility of all the rest of us to tell them they are wrong. Yes, tearing down their delusion may be uncomfortable to them, after all there is a reason why they have taken refuge in their fantasy world, but they will be better off long-term, and humanity even more.

You believe that their beliefs are wrong and seem pretty frustrated about them not conforming to your beliefs, even sinking so low as to questions one's intellect by petty namecalling. Keep it up good sir.

I am not frustrated at all. What makes you think I am? In fact, I find this discussion very entertaining.

"Namecalling"? Would you not call people who believe in nonsense for "ignorant and/or stupid"? I mean, if they believe in nonsense they are per definition either a victim of being shielded from facts (aka ignorant, like millions of people growing up in cultures suffused with that particular superstition) or too stupid to sort fact from fiction.

Why do you even care Soul? People will believe whatever makes them feel good. I don't believe in a lot of stuff but if others do it doesn't bother me :shrugs:

  11. Holy Crap! Now what are all the worshippers going to do? After 20 years of hating Bon Jovi because Axl didn't like him.......now Axl is having dinner and drinks wiith him!

It is moments like these where I really feel bad for the Nutters. It must be so confusing.

Rocketqueen - why do you think Axl's version would be any different?

I know you like to call me a "worshipper" but I have no problem with Jon or him hanging out with Axl.

Lucky you, he used to call me a nutter hahaha

Axl hanging out with BJ won't make me like him nor his music, I still think BJ sucks and that he's a jerk

You think Bon Jovi is a jerk but you worship Axl Rose?

But Congrats on being a big girl and not blindly agreeing with Axl on everything. You are still a Nutter. But good to see you can disagree with your Idol.

Axl isn't my idol, he's my favorite singer ;)
